I think I would be doing a disservice to fellow forum members if I didn't inform new owners and potential owners about the pitfalls of the JVC's. More and more information is coming out about JVC's and their problems,

I tried to watch TV and a DVD through my JVC TV and
nothing comes up with either device using HDMI.

Every set here has at least one issue. How many sets have you returned so far? Stop haunting threads of sets that you don't have.

Why don't you start a thread on "What's wrong with........"
Include; audio sync, screen smudges, lamps, bugs inside the sets crawling around, fan noise, purity, convergence, CA, RBE, SSE, false contouring, macroblocking, image tilt, green blobs, HDMI handshaking, lousy digital tuners, power consumption when off, SD image quality, side speakers, Sonys' ugly silver cabinets.

Did I forget anything??

You don't see me 'haunting' the Mits 1080 thread. I said what I wanted, started my own thread about the issues Mits admitted existed. They refused to do anything about them until possible the next model, so back it went after two letters to the right places. Too bad, it was a nice set, plenty of inputs, two digital tuners and a great image. If they could only get the basics correct.

It is amazing when there are easy adjustments that you can do with a remote control, such as the color drives in the SM, that 55 keeps stating that we have defective sets. As 55's post tally increases, many potential buyers may be swayed by thinking 55 is credible, when in reality - when the majority of the negative comments of a thread is from one individual, they are just a troll.

The HDMI reset procedure is in the service menu. No manufacturer is going to tell any consumer over the phone how to do anything in the service menu for the simple reason that the consumer may inadvertently change some other setting and mess up the set. While we may know enough not to mess with settings in there that we aren't sure about, the person at tech support has no way of knowing we aren't going to ruin the set.

this doesn't just apply to tv mfgs. Auto mfgs make service bulletins available to their dealerships all the time, but will not make them available to owners of the vehicles.
