Only NEW OEM tubes are any good. Anyone that "knows enough" to want a 9" projector, also knows that 50% of the picture quality is the tubes. Why would you put in anything but the best? To save a few hundred dollars?
Having seen the Ruby, I can say it produces a nice picture. It also uses the technology that I believed all along is the best for digital projection, LcOS (same as D'ILA).
I tell customers this, if you can accomodate the size of a CRT projector, it will produce a picture that IS STILL superior. On the other hand, if you live in a small apartment or have a wife :D , you should consider a Sony or JVC digital, it's as simple as that.
Just remember, in terms of longevity, the CRT is STILL the winner (by a long way). The average CRT can run 15,000 trouble free hours and in some cases, on the original tubes. While I also like the Qualia 004, the $2995 list price for replacement a bulb is enough to turn off a millionaire (which is exactly what happened with a customer I had  ).
To compare a Ruby with a G90 is a non-starter. :p
