Blackstone TL350

avr would be onkyo NR609 and a DSW pro 660Wi?

what i like about the TL350 is the small size, but people say i should go for bookshelf instead, would the rti a3 have a huge advatage over the TL3 sats? or are they close?

The RTi series will have a big advantage over the blackstone. Go with the RTi's!

thanks for the input guys, i'll go with the RTi's next problem for me to solve is how to place them

as for the placement is how far should the front speaker place on the side of the tv?

is it ok to put them really close like beside the tv with only like a gap of 2-3 inch apart?

i ask because im currently using a wall mount that swings and fold, i really like it cause i can tuck the led to the way when im not using it and when i do i can position it facing anywhere inside my room

and at the moment its on one corner on my room , its not the best position for a ht setup, but i like the configuration as of now till i move to a new house a setup a better bedroom or make a dedicated HT/computer room

so was thinking of integrating a bracket to the wall mount, so when i swing the tv to any direction the front and center speaker would move along with the tv, and i'll setup my rears to the position where im commonly watching tv

i just hope the mount can handle the extra 99lbs for the front and center RTi's

I always think rattle when I think of brackets. I would play with the placement until you are happy and then leave them alone. I hope you are able to center the TV when you move to the new house. Corner is not likely to work out best for HT.

Ours is in the corner and works well for our room. It's esssentially a fan shaped arrangement.

has anyone tried the polk audio FX Wireless Surround? this would be a easylier alternative for me if, what you think?

Front RTI A3
Center CSI A6
Rear RTI A1 " or maybe a FXI A4 " change to wireless FX?

I apologize for not being able to post a pic, having trouble accessing my photos but, you can check it out here;

You'll be able to see the progression from two bedrooms to now.

Thanks. I'll have to tinker around with my setup but good to know about your positive experience even with it positioned so high.

I just finished my home theatre setup. I really think I have an awesome setup from coming from the crappy HTIB setups. I'm running monitor 70s for my fronts, matched with a monitor cs2. Monitor 60s for my rear. Powered with a Sony dh-820, and pushing a BIC acoustech pl-200. And watching everything on a 46in. Samsung und6420 screen. Couldn't be happier with my choice of speakers. I think I'm a polkie for life

Wondering if polk sells or someone has painted the ugly grey face to black on the Cherry Monitor 70's.

Also, is there anything close to the price range that compares to the Monitor 70/CS2 combo?
Time to clean out the basement. I have some gently used (or slightly unused) low end Monitors to shed... a pair of M50's, also two CS1's, a pair of M40's and OWM3's still in their original boxes that I'll probably unload for about half what I paid, but I'd like to avoid Craigslist if possible. Anyone who lives in SWO (from CVG to OSU) if interested please PM me.

I'm curious to hear peoples thoughts/opinions(I haven't tested it out yet myself). Who leaves their grills on and who takes them off? Are the polks voiced for the grills to be on? I'm currently running M70's, CS2 and M30's.

Just thought I would introduce myself. I have been lurking in the AVS forums for about 9 months, but am finally taking the plunge on my home theater build. This is my first time to wonder into this thread.

I started purchasing my equipment over the Christmas holidays when Newegg advertised the Polk speakers I have been watching. I purchased the following:
  • Monitor 70 - Cherry (2)
  • CS2 Center - Cherry (1)
  • PSW505 Subwoofer - Black (1)
  • RM7 Satellites - Black (4)
These will be powered by a Onkyo TX-NR609, which I also picked up from Newegg at the same time.

Next up is the projector and screen, then the fun will start.

Cheers,
Scott

Congrats!! Nice set up. Too bad you didn't go with the 709 with pre-outs, those 70's and CS2 do real nice with some added power.

I'm running the 70's 60's CS2 and 30's and I've taken my grills on and off multiple times. I have not noticed any difference in sound in my room with them off vs on. I don't think the monitor line is precise enough to have a difference. It does look pretty cool with them off though...lots of drivers staring back at me.

Can anyone recommend wall mounts for the FXi A4's? I can't find any that seem to be a good match on racksandstands, etc.

NewEgg sells the Monitor Series II which features a black front. I agree with you: the titanium face is pretty ugly in comparison. It makes me want to leave the grills on my Monitor 50s. I was going to pick up a set of Monitor 70s Series II when they had them on sale ($300 for the pair) but I missed out on that. I love how they look without the grills. The black face does wonders for their appearance.

I can't answer your second question but I'd imagine that it would be pretty tough to beat the Monitor 70s when they're on sale, based solely on reviews. I have yet to hear them but I like my Monitor 50s enough and am strongly hopeful that the 70s would be a marked improvement.

Really? So the Cherry M70's Series II have a black face, and the Series I has the silver face? Great.

I painted the ugly grey fae of the PSW505 to match my black monitors (sorta )

I have read the Infinity Primus series compared to the monitors.

If you chose to bi-amp/bi-wire you remove the jumpers that connect the terminals and run + and - to each terminal. It has been stated that unless using separate amps you may find little improvement.

The two pairs of binding posts are for bi-amping - running the woofers and tweeters off separate amplifiers. They should have copper straps joining the pairs vertically... if not, you should use wire jumpers, red to red and black to black.

Great movie, especially the LFE. I used bare wires for a while but eventually went with banana plugs.

Also if my Receiver puts out front Highs, I should hook them up to the top ones right?

I think I am going to order the banana plugs this week. And this movie sounds so effing great i just can't wait to fit my center into the Cabinet.

No. Bi-amping or bi-wiring must be the same program material. The speaker's crossover will split up the signal.
Highs or wides should be separate dedicated satellite speakers.

Incase you want' to bi-wire or bi-amp. I did this to mine;

I have the jumper on mine. and hooked up to the bottom, I do get the concept of highs and wide for satellite speakers.

but look at page 9? am i misunderstanding something?

Figure 5 shows bi-amping. The description states: "Bi-amping, or using separate amplifiers for the low and high frequency sections of your speakers." It is straightforward. If you do not bi-amp, keep them jumpered.

Even if my receiver. onkyo tx nr709 with different high out puts. or save them for satellite
