Okay then. If that makes you feel better. I am not trolling. I did not bring up the Emo thing. I am not the one that has been booted from a few other forums for doing the same thing like he did. But oh well....it must be me.....yeah it's me.

Meet in person? Where do you live? In Georgia by chance?

EDIT: Back on topic, this IS the Polk thread. Sorry for the derail. Jason, pm me if you want to discuss.

Awesome, do I get punch and cookies now?
I only show up here to pick up chics. But I go away for a few days and all heck breaks lose.

So anywho, I added a pair of RTi6's a couple weeks ago to round out my collection, and Newegg has now marked them down another twenty buck. Jeesh... this is getting to be like the stock market.

Hello folks. Dave here and wanted to say hey. Been on the forums for a while now reading and researching. I guess it was time for my first post as I pulled the trigger on a set of Polk Audio home theater speakers and an Onkyo AVR.

Ordered the RTi A9s, CSi A6, and FXi A6s (all black) along with the Onkyo NR3009. I feel a little light headed dropping so much on a home theater audio system. I am upgrading from the Bose (yeah that four letter word) Lifestyle 28, Kenwood 200W amp, two Sony three way bookshelf speakers, and a JBL 250W 12" sub. The sub is the only component that will remain. Not sure whether to sell the Bose of use it in a bedroom or garage...

Can't wait until the items arrive and I get to set everything up.

Congrats!!! You will very, very pleased with your new Polks and receiver.

I do have the RTi A9s and CSi A6 as well. Different stuff as my surround and back surround speakers. But, I'm a happy camper with my current setup.

Don't forget to post your impressions as soon you have everything hooked up and running.

Once again.........congrats!

I'm worried about a more power sub as the JBL can be heard down the street... LOL

Lol I know what you mean. I have a BIC PL200. It can get pretty loud. I love hard bass hitting scenes in movies. I like to feel my couch shake.

I say setup the Bose in another room than as zone 2.

Why didn't you go with a preamp and amp?

Yeah I was talking to the wife about a second zone for the Bose, maybe the garage.

I really like the "bells and whistles" of the Onkyo AVR. It has a lot to offer. If I were strictly music, I would have done the CD player, turntable, pre/pro, and amp. I'm still thinking of buying the Emotiva XPA-2 (300WPC).

As far as "feeling the couch shake", i think the triple 7" drivers of the RTi A9s and the 12" sub will rock the block. I already have problems with the drywall with the JBL... I can't wait to get 300 WPC on those things. For now, I'm going to go with the biamp setting on the NR3009, I tried it out and it improved the bass dramatically as well as providing a lot more headroom on the amp. The AVR has a great high current power supply.

With the number of inputs, outputs, zones, power available, 4K conversion, 192 KHz 24 bit Burr Brown DACs, I felt the AVR was a safe bet. I also wanted the ability to eventually convert everything over to HDD and the DLNA support was nice. (money and ignorance of audio pre/pros was also a determining factor)...

What is the consensus on the DSW Pro 660? I was looking at that one and heard the 550 (which was impressively tight and hard). My budget for a sub will be around $400 - $600 (when I recover from the nausea and shock of what I just purchased)... LOL

Recommendations for a 12" are appreciated. Nothing over ~600 please.
Hard to beat the FV12 or VTF-2 for under $600.

You could look at the SVS SB-12 also, but it's $650. You sacrifice a little low-end output but gain small size and tight sound.

Keep in mind SVS offers free shipping and the others don't so the prices will be roughly equivalent.

There's also the Dayton HF 12"/500W kit for $579 shipped if you want to assemble it yourself. That's what I have.

Hey everyone,

Posted this a little while back but if anyone is looking for a pair of Rti A5 and CSi a6 I'm looking to sell mine and I'm offering a great price.

If interested please PM, located in Chicago.

Since you are around $600 the SVS SB-12. The Rythmik FV-12 is also a contender. Check out Elemental Designs A3-300.

Your best option (if you are looking at a smaller sized sub) if you can save and stretch just a little bit is the X-Ref 12" sub from Emotiva. 600 Watt sealed with DSP. DSP is really going to allow you to get the most out of the LFE in movies. $699 shipped CONUS.
Those are some impressive looking subs you guys recommended. From the recommendations and lack of feedback on the Polk Audio subs, I take it that the Polk subs aren't worth the purchase price???

Thanks for the recommendations guys. That Dayton Audio sub is an intriguing idea.
Yeah the Polks don't really have anything on the top tier internet direct manufacturers like SVS, HSU, and Rythmik.

The X-Ref 12 looks nice but I doubt it would be able to keep up entirely with the SB-12. I haven't seen a quality direct comparison but I trust SVS's sub designers more than Emotiva's.
So now I have to ask what the opinion of sealed vs. ported subs!

Since this is a Polk Thread, I want to know how the 660 slot ported sub will differ from a sealed unit like the SB-12? The sub I currently have has a front firing driver with a down facing port. I think it relaxes the bass a little. Would a sealed unit give more punch (quicker bass) but require more power?

Hey, and welcome to the forum! I have similar speakers like yours and cr13624, A9's, CSiA6 and a pair of FXiA6's.

Soon to add a another pair of A9's.

Right now, I have my A9's powered with the same amp you're looking at, the XPA2. IMO, it does a fine job of powering the A9's, esp when doing just 2ch music and having them on full band.

For HT, I've got a sealed sub from Epik, the Empire, one heck of a sub, a bit out of your price range, but the smaller Legend is in your range and from what I hear from the guys on the Epik thread on this forum, they love it; a sealed dual 12" driver sub. http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html

I've had two down firing sub with front firing ports, I don't miss the chuffing noise.

Best-O-shopping and like CR13 said, give us an update once you're rolling.

My Epik Legend plays well with my RtiA setup!

Are both of the drivers in the Epik Legend active or is one active and the other passive?

If you don't mind a second hand sub then check this one out:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/3009302440.html

Cool thing about SVS is that you can transfer warranty, but check with SVS to ensure everything is in order with this sub first (that is how I did it and scored a PB12-Plus DSP few weeks ago).

No affiliation at all....

I provided the link for the Legend, it breaks down the technology and build quality of the sub. Here it is again; http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html

Thank you kindly. You guys are very helpful... My wife gave me that look of "you know you have a problem, right?!"... as I was talking about a sub upgrade.

Are Monitor 60's good for jazz and 90's hip hop?
I read alot of threads on how infinity's p632/363 are better for music and polks are better for home theater.

Sense i cant find p362 any more and 363's are way to expansive,im seriously considering Polks m60's.Do they really lack bass and are too bright and not good for music?
