Fit, form and function. The last being the most important. That's what we machinists say. Looks a darn sight better than using duct tape and coat hangers.

Right-o! The CSi is a huge step up. My philosophy; never let size or weight or configuration of furniture make the decision of your sound outcome.

Why, thank you biggrin.gif

Polk is selling refurb RTI A9's for $500 and newegg is selling new ones for $500. Does not compute. Problem is I want cherry and newegg lists those for $800.
Wish they'd have a 50% off sale again at newegg on the cherry. Seems like I remember them doing that before. I'd jump on those instead of refurb RTI12's.
The A9's are 1 1/8" wider and I like the wider look. I might sit tight and wait for another sale on the cherry A9's. Always hard to be patient.

Yes, it is hard. But at the end it pays off big time! Hopefully, you'll not have to wait that long to score on the cherries. They are just plain beautiful!

I now use a CSi3 with a pair of RTi A7s. Yea I believe you though. The CSi5 will put out a lot of sound. Monitors are good but RTi line is a lot better IMO.

Nice DIY shelf! Looks good to me

It would be interesting to know how they reduced the weight of the A9's vs. the R12's by 13 lbs. The A9 is 1 1/8" wider, 3/8" deeper but only 1 1/2" shorter.
Maybe because the A9 had curved sides going smaller to the rear. I like the curved sides.
I'm always looking at specs. Guess it's from being a retired machinist. Like studying a blueprint before starting a job.

I saw those A9's on eBay and was thinking of dropping you a line, but then figured you'd probably stumble across them on your own anyway. Color was not an issue for me as I prefer black anyway. At one time I had all walnut components and the problem was too many different shades of walnut. About the weight difference, I can't imagine a few inches of wood would add up to 13 lbs. You might give Polk cust svc a call this week and ask. Of course by then the NewEgg sale will have ended. But one thing you can be sure of is they will always go back on sale sometime. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I really would like to get the cherry A9's. I would imagine the sound difference between the A9's and RTI12's aren't much different. I've also got my eye on a HSU VTF-15H sub. If the cherry A9's don't go
on sale I may just grab the sub and wait a month for the A9's and hope they go on sale after that. Either way I'm pulling the trigger this coming Wednesday. Doubt the A9's will go on sale before Wednesday
but you never know. I'll be tickled pink either way and get to my goal eventually.

Every once in a while I start getting emails and have to figure out how to turn that off.
I'm not sure how it turns itself on or off. Just keep hunting and you'll find it.

Oh, here it is: http://www.avsforum.com/users/subscriptions/index/action/edit
post #15161 of 34701
Yeah, I had already checked that but still don't get notification. Oh well, no biggie.

I get them all the time. I usually get over 400 email updates from this site alone a day.

That would be worth a road trip, but I can't retire my new Monitors yet. Wife would flip! smile.gif

Ordered a pair of Monitor 70's from Newegg, should be here Wednesday. $300 shipped seemed like a good deal! Hopefully they sound decent enough off my current receiver (65wpc) until I upgrade that in a few months time. Either way they are probably a big upgrade to the 5 year old Onkyo HTIB speakers I currently use for fronts. Next will be to keep an eye out for a CS2 smile.gif

Congrats. Quite a deal for the money. Compared to those HTIB speakers I'm sure you'll be happy. Enjoy!

I've wandered away from the A9's and am seriously considering the LSi15's and a Emotiva amp to drive them. I'm reading the LSi's are better for music.
A grand a pair seems like a good price for flagship speakers. Go for it or am I fugged up? I am such a pain.

newegg has polk monitor60's for $99ea right now

i currently run 2 cerwin vega ve-5c centers as my fronts. should I pull the trigger on the upgrade? they seem to have exceptional reviews...

Better safe than sorry....;o)

If your interest is mainly or highly related to music, then LSi15's are the ones for you. No matter A9's or 15's and amp will be a great addition to your system. So, at end goes down to your preference on the use of the speakers (mainly music or movies). And, I think you already answered that question above.

So, did you hit "buy" already?

I'm not nearly as fussy for HT sound as I am for music. I watch a movie maybe once a week but listen to music nearly every day. I'm going to hit the buy button this coming Wednesday.

Just looked at your gallery cr136124. Love it. Very impressive.

Cool!

That totally make sense to me. Folks that use the 15's for music are really happy with the performance of these speakers and for occasional HT usage they will do a good job as well.

Looking forward to read on your impressions on these babies.

Cheers!

I'm an amazon prime member so I'll get free two day shipping. Hopefully I'll have them by Saturday. Sure, I'll give my impressions.

I am currently using the AVR that came with my HTIB HT-9100THX, which only provides about 65 wpc too, and the Monitor 70's sound awesome. I am currently looking at some Denon AVR's, but can't decide, which one to buy, and I am hoping for some good sale during XMAS biggrin.gif

Did you check out Polks ebay site first? Might be a slightly better price on em.

I have had a set for about 2 years and honestly am in love. I would suggest the first thing you do is to look to buy 2 Polk db840 SVC subs to replace the stock ones in the LSi. These Polk car subs are a drop in replacement with no modifications needed and tighten up the bass a bit and IMHO are well worth it.

Amazon has those subs from non authorized dealers for pretty cheap and crutchfield runs buy 1 get one free or buy one get one 1/2 off sales all the time on their Polk car stuff so its a pretty cheap mod.
Yep, the LSi15's on amazon are from an authorized dealer and are the same price as the ones on polk ebay. They are fulfilled by amazon. I wrote down those sub numbers and will probably
give it a go later on. Thanks for that info.

If you were hoping to pick up a Denon for cheap then you just missed the boat. The 2012 models were selling at closeout prices for the past 2-3 months since the 2013 models were released. I picked up a 3312ci for about $700 to replace our 1910, and after another month or two also bought a 2112 to replace the Yamaha in our bedroom as well. Word in the Denon forums is that most of the higher end models have sold out and all that's left now is low wattage models (I think 1712 or 1912 may still be available, but I wouldn't recommend anything below that)... I just checked Amazon and there is still a 2112 available for $500+. The 2112 has just about everything.

No worries. You got any questions on the LSi 15's regarding placement or anything hit me up via PM. There are a lot of things you can do to make em better from upgrading the 8" subs to totally rebuilding the crossovers using much better parts and I know most if not all of em smile.gif.

**Please note** This is by no means me saying these speakers are in any way shape or form bad in their stock form. I simply am a member of Club Polk where we folks go crazy on trying to make really good speakers sound even better just because we can. And according to the masses of modders the limiting factor in these is the parts in the crossover and the passive sub.
