i got lucky when i walked in to frys and the rti12's were 349 each. the computer listed the CSi5 at 105$ !!! but they were discontinued and had none left

remember frys online is not the same as frys in-store. and each frys store is different. best bet is to just walk in and get lucky with a sale.

to another poster: i just got my CSi5 off amazon for 305. crutchfield has it for 5$ less but i think amazon will be more likely to refund me if their price drops within 30 days. (i saw it there for 225 a week ago when ******* had them in stock...)

I bought my CSi5 from One Call dot com a couple weeks ago. It was two hundred.

Hello all, I've been trolling around here for a bit and I think I figured out what HT system to go with my 2500 sq ft room based from what I read off this cool forum.

Polk Audio
L/R: RTi8
Center: CSi3
Rear: FXi3

Sub: eD A5-350
Receiver Onkyo SR-705 (Over kill? should I go 605 instead)?

I have the 46" Sony XBR3, and PS3 for DVD/Blu-ray.

Anyone have this system set-up, and what speaker stands would you recommend for my rears, they are kind of an odd shape.

Thanks

So has anyone here bought from the Polk guy on ebay? I am looking at his
RM6900 5.1 set. Later I will add a couple of the towers to complete the 7.1 setup for my Marantz 4001. But has anyone had any dealings with the guy?

Anyone have the polk R300's?

http://shop3.outpost.com/product/4965501

I am getting the polk rm6750 speaker set for christmas and was wondering if it would be worth picking up two of these to replace the front two speakers in that set?
I wouldn't shove the R300s into a HTiB to replace the mains, even if the others are Polks.

What about the R50s?

I never think it's a good idea to throw speakers with totally different drivers and characteristics together in a system. I'd either build a system using R-series speakers or stick with the RM HTiB.

Ok thanks. One last question.

Hows the sub in the RM6750 set?

A compact system that includes 5 small satellite speakers and a powered sub in one box for a few hundred bucks counts as a HTiB to me. Doesn't matter though.

Anyway, I haven't heard the 6750 but a 50-watt 8" sub isn't really going to do much, especially if your room is larger than 10'x10'.

My room is about 12x12

Think I should consider replacing it with a 10" dayton sub?
I'd personally reconsider the whole setup. What's your budget?

I already purchased it lol

I got a Sony reciever and the Polk RM6750 htib set for $300

I would not have been able to go any higher then $300 either.

Well you can be confident that these speakers will sound better than anything Bose has put out recently

Sounds like you got a good deal too. Probably the best set you could have gotten for that amount of money.

See if the sub works for you. Your room is fairly small. Should be easy to upgrade later if it's not enough.

Yeah I think I will be happy with them ill see how the sub is and if I feel I need a bigger one I can always upgrade later.

The only difference between our systems is a CSi5 and eD A2-300. You can put the FXi3's on anything. I have three on sofa tables and the fourth on a decorative stand. The 705 gives a nice upgrade path.

Cool, how do you like your system? Any regrets, should of and would of? You think my woofer is over kill for my room size?

Thanks

I've only had my system for two months so I'm still in the honeymoon stage. Seriously, I couldn't be happier. I did a lot of research, got a lot of help from the forums and listened to as many speakers as I could.

You show a 2500sq ft room. That's a big humpin' room! Did you mean 250 sq ft? Anyway, my familyroom is 25' x 15' = 375 sq ft, has a cathedral ceiling so I guess that means 750 cu ft...and opens to the kitchen yet my eD A2-300 gives me all the rumble I need for sports and movies. I sit ~10' from my TV and front sound stage. Many audiophiles would recommend a much more powerful SW than I have, even two SW, but again I'm happy with what I have.

My bad, I meant 2500 cubic ft, something along H8'XW17'xL18'. I sit the same 10' away from my screen, and it's pretty closed up with a door to the kitchen.

I hope my center speaker is strong enough. I wanted the CSi5 like you but I didn't want to spend double what I paid for the CSi3. However, I'm willing to spend $600 on the SW...go figure I like the bass!

LOL, looks like I can't do the math either! I should have used 25'x15'x8'=3000cu ft then doubled it for the cathedral ceiling.

If you like the bass then go for it!

So I'm trying my absolute best to stay around $1500 or less (although I could go more if it really warranted it). I have a small 11'x13'x7' room, but I may eventually move into something bigger. Anyway here's a set up i'm looking at wanted to know what people thought:
RTi10 - 750/pr
CSi5 - 305
FXi3 -250/pr
PSW404 -250

Total: $1555

Although i'm really debating the RTi8s for $490/pr bringing my total to: $1295, not sure if the RTi10s are really worth the extra $250. This is pricing I found on Amazon (which offers free shipping too), better sites anyone recommends with good pricing?

Rti8 is $300/pair on frys(outpost). go with rti8's and put the saved money into a better sub(hsu, svs,ed,epik). You should find csi5 for $200 online.
Yeah i'm doing price searching as we speak, crutchfield appears to have some scratch&dent prices...but then again you never know just how BAD the scratches & dents will be. Anyway, what sub would you pair with the system? I'm thinking a 10" would be appropriate...or do u think i should go with a 12? I'm looking at HSU right now...but damn it's pricey.

In my opinion, RTi10 sounds a lot better than Rti8. This is no small money you are putting in. So i suggest that you listen to those speakers yourself before you decide. Others' opinions are others' opinions. You are buying you a system.

Add J&R and Fry's to your stores. I love my RTi8's and they are in a room much larger than of yours. For SW take a look at Elemental Design A2-250.

Oh i forgot to mention I run an Onkyo605. You think it'll have any problems running these speakers?

The Onkyo 605 will run the RTi8's just fine but from what I've read in the forum, the RTi10's would benefit from a little more juice.
