damn fedex..... they don't update the tracking info for days, then tell me it will be delivered today and requires a signature, so come home early from work to be here and ....... no fed ex....... no note saying they have been here, Tom Petty said it, the waiting is the hardest part.... I want my m60s!

on the bright side of things, my dad is giving me his 70s era MCINTOSH receiver smile.gif not sure what model the receiver is yet, but if I remember correctly it is a tube amp.... That'll make your day.

Yep, Fedex is the worst. They have the worst tracking system on the planet. I paid for next day shipping 2 days ago and it was delivered today. That's twice now in the last month.

i just got my monitor 60 ii's today, it seems that there is not really much change from new monitor to monitor ii

they moved the drivers around, and changed the veneer. All he same components though. So far I am very happy with the monitors, they outperform everything I could audition within 100 miles for less than 400 per speaker retail price. I am well aware that my center is not a perfect timber match for them, but it is not bothering me, I have to wonder though if when I ever get the money saved for some rtia fronts if I will look back and think of how stupid that statement was smile.gif

monitor ii's aren't the new ones like he was referring too. He was referring to the actual "new" monitor series like the 75t 45b 65t etc

ya, csia4. and I'm happy with it, my room is fairly small and now after a movie, some TV, and audio from two sources I can say that it's good enough for me for quite some time. Moving my previous fronts to surrounds has really picked up the experience as much as the monitors up front. I don't think my old lady is gonna let me spend any more on audio gear for a while anyway smile.gif At least not till I bring her a few choice records to spin and the new setup blows her mind. we lived with tv audio for 4 years, thank god for real speakers again.

i'm waiting on them to come down in price closer to the monitor ii line. unless newegg puts the monitor 70s back on sale and gets cs2 and m40s back in stock, but the new monitor line still to high for me with 75t at $230 for what is the same thing a m70 is for $150 on sale when they are on sale

right, but they still are not all that new smile.gif it seems that the change from tsi to monitor ii is in the crosovers and cabinet geometry. The change from monitor ii to new monuitor is just a re-arrangement of the tweeter position. They all use nearly identical drivers and have very similar frequency response. I think I like the veneer fronts on the new series better though.

right but series ii is over 2 years old now. that's what I was getting at vs. "new" monitor are couple of months
post #15795 of 35349
looks like they changed the color of the spike feet too. My m60 have silver feet, the m65t has black feet

Hello, I am working on a home theater setup in a room measuring 24 feet by 20 feet. The use will be 70% movies and 30% music. The music will be accessed from my Mac (presently have both sonos and airport express for this purpose). I have two Rti A9 speakers. Planning on acquiring a SVS SB13 Ultra subwoofer, Polk CSi A6 center and Polk FXi A6 surrounds. I need opinions about the following:

A) will the Denon 4520 be a good AVR for the above setup? Any alternatives to consider?
B) do I need an additional amp - I have no intention of ear shattering levels of sound but am interested in high quality sound - perhaps as loud as I would listen is the level in a theater. If the amp (eg XPA 5) helps in this regard, I can certainly get one.
C) I am planning on a 5.1 setup. Does the 7.1 setup provide a far superior HT experience?
D) all the components will be housed in the cabinetry except the surrounds. Any recommendations for smaller surround speakers I could consider from an aesthetic standpoint?
That 4520 is an excellent choice in my opinion and I would not mind having one over my Marantz 7005. I don't think you will be needing an amp unless you're going to play at loud levels. I'm doing 6.1 currently with a single floor standing speaker in the rear that satisfies me. You're on track to have a very fine system. Those A6 surrounds should do you well.
Hold off on the amp and if you feel you need one later then buy one. That's a great subwoofer. If you're going to house that receiver in a cabinet I recommend you get some airflow in it. You probably already know that.

The plan is to have air entry from below and exit at the top of the cabinet housing the receiver. I am hoping this will allow it to run cool. The rest of the components will not generate much heat. There will be several inches room above the receiver. The space is 28 " tall and 24" wide.
A fan in there would be nice if possible. Looks like you've done your homework. I'm sure you'll be quite happy with that system.

If you follow the "typical" progression, you would eventually move up to larger front speakers and move your Tsi300's to the surround position. In that case, you would already have the best center in the Tsi family to match your new fronts (assuming you move up to Tsi400, Tsi500, or even M70's).
Unless you use your system either primarily for music or mostly for music, your center and sub should be the best speakers in your setup.

I listened to you and was patient. I found a CS20 for $99 on Craigslist. It's really nice. Almost overwhelms the Tsi300 speakers though. Maybe I've had such a puny center channel that I don't know any better. Thanks for the help!

So far I have spent 2x Tsi300 and CS20 for a total of $210. smile.gifsmile.gif

congrats! enjoy the polk goodness. If I had the patience you had I would have paid less for receiver and center..... but patience is not my strongest point.

Hey everyone, I had a quick question, more of an opinion rather than needing help. Do you all generally keep the boxes and packaging that speakers come in? I know that in the event of having to send one of these guys in for repair, you're supposed to have something available for packaging, and I'm sure that would cost more than it should.. I live in an apartment, otherwise I'd just put these in a basement or storage, but even after breaking down the boxes, I don't really have room to store the styrofoam packaging. Any opinions or advice? I know these are well built speakers, but I'm a natural worrier. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I keep the boxes (except a few my wife threw away... now I wish I had them as I would like to sell some of my older speakers!)

I take the styrofoam out of one box and put in into the other box (speaking of a pair of speakers here) and collapse the empty one. That way I only need space for one "full" box for each set of speakers. Unfortunately our basement and garage are full and so I rent a storage locker to store most of the boxes, along with some extra furniture. We're keeping this stuff because we plan to move in a few years, after our kids are finally settled and out of the house.

Looking for opinions on the RC80i ceiling and RC85i wall speakers? How much of a difference will I get from 4 Sony ss-f7000 speakers? What should I use as a center for these polks? Thinking two 85s front left/right, two for surrounds and then two 80s above and to rear. My theater room is 13x18 and I have an onkyo 876 receiver.

Forgot to mention that all the in wall/ceiling speakers would have boxes built to help eliminate some noise, I have a bedroom on either side of my theater.

How does this look? What would you reccomend in the place of what i picked (newegg only)

Monitor 75t or A5's? How does that center speaker work with those floorspeakers.

Use is mostly movies/games. I do like to zap out and listen to music, but that takes a 3rd place.

Would like to place order today to get that sale price on Klipsch sub for 300.

Appreciate your time and effort.
