This is one thing I do not understand. I few years go I ordered a Mede8er MED500X2 when they first came out. It came from China. I paid $30 dollars extra for 2nd day delivery, and it was here in 2 days via DHL. Hell, I order some speaker wire sleeve covers that came from Hong Kong in two days too. However, if I order something within the USA it takes weeks...is something wrong here

I finally finished the living room, what a messy job painting ceilings and repairing plaster.....

but I got the TV re-hung and wires stashed behind the wall very clean!. will get a picture taken after we get it all cleaned and place everything where it belongs. Cable management is becoming a a bit easier.

The UPS tracking originally said the delivery would be on 1/17/12 but now it's 1/21/12. Oh well, better late than never. It's a Rythmik FV15HP.

Yep, I'm a amazon primes member so I get free two day shipping. If I pay $3.99 I'm supposed to get it in one day. 3 times now in the last few months they've been a day late. Just have to not get upset and roll with it.
Of course it's really not free when you have to pay 79 bucks a year.

I always go for the free shipping - over $25 on Amazon, and free three day shipping from NewEgg.
For the most part never had any issues, except once when our normal UPS guy was out sick.
One tends to become spoiled and take good service for granted. It's when something goes wrong
(for example a letter showing up a month late) that we realize just how fragile the delivery system is.

Yep, crap happens for deliveries. One that was supposed to be delivered today by UPS had this in the tracking: "Delay in delivery due to weather or natural disaster."
No fighting mother nature.

I bought a "Little Bear " single tube Headphone Amp

I Put it in the pre area & matched the levels with the CD player, MP3 player & theUSB Dac/laptop.

The tube pre has a volume control that "Does not change tone or quality minimum or maximum Volume"

@ 1/4 or 9 o'clock setting on the tube hdphne amp all 3 are level matched??? Correct Setting??

@ 12 o'clock setting or 1/2 of the tube pre's volume control

the volume control on my Int amp must come down from an average of say 1/3rd or 10-11 oclock position to say 9 oclock or 8 oclock position.

THE Question IS Does Anyone Understand " the line level "

Beyond the Obvious stated here that the speaker Volume moves up Dramatically

Can a line level amp increase the Volume of an amplifier FURTHER??

Is there a safety margin in line level Volumes & the subsequent Amplification generated From that Level.

Am I about to damage something?

"Line level" simply refers to the kind of signal level that normally comes from the output jacks of a CD player, tape deck, tuner, or other audio source devices. It is intended to go to the input of an amplifier or receiver.

It obviously varies as the sound varies in strength, but typically has a level between approximately 0.1 and 1.0 volts.

A "line-level" output does not have the power capability to drive a speaker; it cannot supply the large current needed.

As long as you are hearing clean audio with no distortion, you are not overloading the input circuit of the amplifier, so set it at a comfortable level and forget it. If you hear some distortion turn it down as needed.

What is the effect of providing the Amp a slightly higher Voltage?
would that Help a situation where we are using an Amp or Integrated,
that may be a bit Marginable for the Speaker
being used?

Among the shipping companies, i hate UPS the most. Always the worst service in my opinion.

Fedex is by far the worst, that's why they are going broke and UPS is destroying them. My dad also has worked for UPS for 30 years too. I've heard all about it, but UPS is the best choice around. Both companies destroy your package either way but way Fedex does business is the reason they are hurting. UPS is the only one not in trouble. Let's not even get started on the postal service.

but Mis-sorts happen for both companies and weather happens, and they are human. But you really don't have a choice, you could always pay more at brick and mortar and pay taxes!

speaking of delivery issues ups delivered me a phono cartridge today that is 1 inch by 3 inch... in a 12 x 6 box with no padding/filler. rolling around in there for a week and 2000 miles.. hope it still works. You would think tigerdirect would know better, they ship lots of sensitive items.

It depends on where you live.

Fedex delivers on saturdays.
If I miss the Fedex man and the item requires a signature, I can go to the Fedex place by 2:30 pm and pick it up. Very easy.

UPS doesnt allow people in my city to pick up signature items at the branch as its still on the truck.
You have to do the transaction at your house.
So you have to meet the UPS guy on your lunch hour, and sometimes they are 2 hours late than their normal time.

Before Amazon Prime, buying packages on Amazon was kind of a nightmare. If you didnt get your order in my Monday, you would have to wait till NEXT Monday,,, because UPS doesnt deliver on Sat.

Both UPS and FedEx have tried to damage my stuff with boxes ripped or holes in them but luckily no damage to the contents yet. FedEx delivered my speakers two houses down from me. He must have been listening to his GPS and not even looked at the number on the house. Oh well, we just don't live in a perfect world and people make mistakes. I'm not sure but I think I might have made one mistake many years ago.

NewEgg shipped a laptop to me banging around in a box ten times larger than the laptop. I'm not saying the laptop box was in a big box, I'm saying the LAPTOP itself was in a big empty box with no padding. But it fired up okay and has been running fine ever since. They are designed to survive baggage claims and being thrown in a car trunk and such so I wasn't too worried, just miffed.

My normal UPS delivery guy is really very good. He'll even carry stuff around back of the house if he doesn't see my car in the driveway. But sometimes he's off sick and I get someone else, and then it's luck of the draw.

You mentioned your phono cartridge, I remember once when I bought one and the guy who brought it out of lockup slammed it down on the counter. I demanded another one.

Just got reminded about the Fedex guy who threw a computer monitor or TV (shown in original box) over the fence last year or so without calling out the recipient....

they do deliver on saturday's if you pay for it. trust me as a kid my dad got called in enough because of someone messing up on a saturday, but the option is there. http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/shipping/time/service/value_added/sat_delivery.html. it is not apart of the regular ground service it is it's own thing. and yes they won't allow you to come to ups to pick it up. it's a security thing.

I received the center stage bracket for mounting my CC speaker above my TV. Damn thing did not come with screws for attaching the legs to the shelf. I sure do love Chinese made stuff.

ok I think I have settled on my plan for system upgrade. First, upgrade to a receiver with pre-outs. I am looking at the one I should have gotten in the first place (hk 3600 instead of 2600) second, an xpa-3 amplifier. third, the emotiva stereo preamp with HT bypass, fourth will be the rtia9's or lsi15's. The receiver upgrade will be real soon, it's tax return season and as a bonus with that avr I will get 20 watts more per channel (measured all channels driven)

figures, if it had been included it would more than likely have been cheap crap anyway. the hardware I got with my cheetah TV mount was horrible, I replaced it all with stuff from the hardware store.

 

I've always like the looks of HK receivers but have never owned one. Looks like you have your plan laid out. If you listen to music a lot I'd sure recommend the LSi15's. For a grand I don't think there's anything on the market that can beat em. Especially at the price they go for on Polk ebay. All the people I've seen that bought from them say their stuff is like new. Either the A9's or LSi15's I'm sure you'll be tickled pink. Bet you're really looking forward to an upgrade.

I got lucky and found four screws in my coffee can of nut and screws to fit that CC speakers bracket.

I really like my HK, biggest reason is clean adio, but it has more real world wattage on every channel than anything else under 1500 bucks. The new models are measured with 2 channels driven, which was a mistake by Harman. But the 2600 and 3600 are measured with all 7 driven. They have dolby volume instead of audysee, and they don't waste money on apps and network gizmos. You get faroudja upscaling too, and the refurbs for the 3600 with pre outs are going for 499 bucks. not bad at all. I also really love the logic 7 encoding and option for true analog stereo bypass for my phono and tape. And finally, it is one of the only AVR's that has plenty of legacy video support, I use a lot of vintage video game machines and require composite and component support. The upscaling is not perfect, but for 500 dollars it is stellar. 3DO, Atari or Nintendo anyone? nothin like some original Zelda with 5.1 sound after a long day at the mines.

 

Yep, most Blu-ray players have the apps anyway and if you want airplay you only need to get an Apple TV. I actually worked at a copper mine in Arizona in my younger days. What a hot hell hole that was.

I just got an email from http://www.cybermarket.co.uk/ saying they've now got some Polk's in, finally managed to track down a pair in the UK! I ordered 2x TSI-100's and 1x CS10.
