200x5 should be fine for the LSi's. I would caution against the 25s though. Stick with the 15s.

I am putting a 600x2 watt amp on my 15s if that tells you anything smile.gif.

My only tip would be this the biggest debates in audio are these: do amps sound different, and do cables both speaker, interconnect and power make a difference.

Listen for yourself and make your own mind up.

I believe they do and I have suggested specific brands for interconnects and speaker cable through out this thread so I won't repeat myself.

I will just say spend the 100ish on 5 interconnects and get some decent ish speaker cable for your front three. To give you an idea of how my system is setup, I run 130 dollar speaker cable (per speaker) and 90 dollar interconnects (per speaker) with my front three. I run 20 dollar interconnects (per speaker) and 14 gauge mono price speaker cables to my surrounds.

This is not to say you must duplicate my setup but more to show how little I spend on my surrounds compared to my front three

Just picked up a pair of like new M70's from CL. I just cant wait for newegg sale on this bad boys no more... Paid $150 a piece so i hope thats not too far from the best deal online? My kids wont let me set anything up right now so hopefully tomorrow when they take nap...

So far i have the following:

PSW505
CS2
2x M70's

Will use Denon 3311.

I see newegg have the R300 on sale. Should i get them to be surrounds and complete my 5.1 setup?

Congrats Kevin. $150 each is the lowest I've ever seen them go for on the egg. For $50 each I don't know how they can even make a profit on those R300's. I'd go for it if it were me. You have a nice system going. smile.gif

Thanks for the details on that good call out. I would prefer to find used or something other than dropping that much money on the emotive. I'm going to look out for something else for a little while before I think about stomaching that

Thanks. You are such an inspiration as always. As for the R300 im not talking about pricing but rather if they're a good fit as surrounds with the other speakers i just put together.

Well, they are what they are. Entry level speakers. But for surrounds I think they would work fine with the rest of your gear. Just not as important as your front three. They'll get the job done unless you wanna spend more.

I was planning the M30 or M40 for surrounds but if they dont have any extra benefit soundwise then i dont need to stick with them.

I'd personally go for the R300's. If I had the floor space I'd probably grab a pair myself. I have to use bookshelves mounted on the walls so it's a no go for me.

if I had a choice between the lsi and the rtia series it would definitely be the lsi15. its only 850 for a pair at the ebay store.

I would like to join you and have some polkaudio speakers and join them to my system, but i'm confused between RTIA7 and TSI500, the first worth more around 100$, and does Powerport Plus has a big sound difference.

I saw that too. if you look at the purchase history, you will notice there was a period of a week or two where they were sold for 799. Do you think I am being too optimistic that will happen again? Does anyone know how big their (polk ebay) lot of LSi's might be? For example, if i sit on it for a week or so while i sketch out my system, etc. will i risk them being gone?

You can usually just go to their page and it will tell you how many has been sold and how many are available. So far for the LSi15 Cherries, there has been 84 sold and it still says there are "more than 10 available.

The RTi line is far superior to the TSi's. The Tsi's are a small step above the Monitor's, which are just above their entry level models. Lsi's are the top of the line. Given a choice, go with the Rti's if you can afford them. If you are serious about sound and buy anything below that, such as Tsi's, you will be selling them and buying Rti's sometime later on. Eventually you will probably also need an amp but Rti's can get by with an AVR.

The RtiA7's are fine speakers.

So i signed into ebay. The polk ebay store would allow me to purchase 50 or 55 of them but not 60. I wonder if that is they magic number remaining or of ebay just cuts you off at that much smile.gif Im glad I didnt accidentally hit purchase, that would have been a 40k mistake, haha

I ran A7's on a 90wpc Denon 790 AVR for about a year before upgrading to A9's. The A9's definitely need a larger amp, but the A7's really sounded good on the AVR. Presently I have the A7's in the surround position running off the same 5-channel amp as the A9's up front and admittedly they do sound better with more power. But I was completely happy with the A7's on the AVR and only upgraded because the opportunity presented itself.

If you buy the A7's you'll be happy. One word of advice though... if you buy the matching center, you should definitely go with the larger (CsiA6) rather than the smaller A4.

I have a poll center now, im at work now and don't remember the size. Im getting these at cruchfield, they are giving me a sub for free. Have two now but hay its free. I have a 7.1 put a y splitter on now its a 7.2 (kind of)

it is impossible to truly know how many they have, but it does mention that they have 10 pairs of lsi15s left, and that 35 or so have been sold. That is not necessarily accurate though, they get more in frequently from various places and change that number. I would guess that they lower the price based on high supply as well, so next shipment for sale you may see 799 again. honestly though, a hundred dollar difference seems to me worth it to ensure I got them if they are what I really want. I actually paid 50 more my monitors than if I had waited just to make sure they didn't run out. It's a personal choice how much the risk and wait is worth.


If I had not gotten them at the polk direct store, I would have missed the better deal at newegg anyway. so I did actually get the best available price. They are monitor series though, not monitor 2 like newegg had. I forsee the prices on lsi's staying steady for a while since they are now considered legacy speakers and are no longer in production. they WILL run out, like the monitors did.

You know the old saying, damned if you do and damned if you don't.

You're not by chance going to be running a projector or mounting your display on the wall are you? Three 15's across the front would be perfection. Just a thought.

My plan is to mount a TV on the wall. I can't even begin to imagine three 15's accross the front. That would be crazy. If I could afford it I would. I am already trying to hide the true total price from my wife. She wouldnt understand, so I just keep that part out. I just signed up for the polk forums, maybe I will send a quick post over there as well. I want to make sure I can find a matching center with matching timbre without buying the LSiM line. Otherwise, I might just do that A9s.

You may be better off just going for the A9 if you really want a perfect timbre match with the CC. The CS2 works fine for me but I'm a lot more picky about music than HT. The hunt for a CSiC looks like a dead end unless you get lucky and find a used one. The guys in this thread that own the A9 are really happy with them. If I had pulled the trigger on the A9 I'm sure I would have been happy with those too.

Yes, decisions decisions. I guess it is not a bad problem to have. They are BOTH very nice speakers. I went out on a limb and messaged VR3 since he has the cross-over mods/ugrades for this speaker and I thought on the off chance he might have a LSiC, doubt it, but it doesnt hurt to ask. What setup are you rocking again XStanleyX?

Once I figure out my fronts, surrounds and center then i have to worry about a AVR, amp and blu-ray. It is never ending, but it is a lot of fun researching this stuff and finding a great deal. I dont see this stopping after my initial purchase. Oh well, I could have a worse habit
