I have seen the monitor series but it seems that the rti series is the better of the two...is that correct?

The LSiM are Polks current flagship speakers. The previous flagship was the LSi line followed by the RTi line. The current flagships are pretty pricey. I've owned a few different models of Klipsch in the past and am not a fan of their horn. Some folks love them though so it's a matter of personal preference.
I own some LSi speakers but the folks here that own the RTi's really like them. Maybe they'll chime in. I haven't really seen any negative comments.
The 45B is as far as you'll be able to go in the Monitor line and keep a decent timbre match with your CC AFAIK. I'm just afraid you'll still want to upgrade again. Having to stick with bookshelves makes it a bit tough. Upgrading to the RTi line would give you a definite improvement but then your CC would not timbre match if that's important to you. I'm just not sure you'll be happy with the difference going to the 45B. Maybe there's a member here that made the same switch can jump in. I can't remember any one here doing that but then my memory isn't the greatest. May be best to keep saving and jump to the RTi line.
Great. Glad to see you finally got yourself a CC. Didn't know you were going after a receiver too. Yeah, quite a leap from that Onkyo. Congrats!
I'd wait till after you get a sub and decide after that. Having a decent sub will make a huge difference.
We're all constantly wanting up upgrade. Just the way it goes. Money is the only thing holding us back. And of course sometimes the WAF. The wife will say: What? you want to put that big ugly box that just goes boom in the living room?
Big improvement. Money well spent.
