Some guy on craigslist offered me $500 for my pair of LSi15's. Not likely. I still have food in the house. Lots and lots of Top Ramen.

Question on addition to Polk LS50's in regard to sound bar ....using them with a PSW111 with new Onkyo and Oppo...sounding very warm indeed.....had it originally for a few days on my RTI70 originally since they are only 10 years old compared to the LS which I have for 25 and think and was told they are a better speaker and more suited for living room area and despite listening with good headphones think I may need surround but can not see running additional speakers... I want to match the Polks any ideas....I can see sticking to the current setup which is great but....

I've run that set up.

As I transitioned from Monitors to RTiA's, I did just as you're planning. I moved my M70's to surround. It was impressive "at first". The sight of a tower in surround after using numerous bookies, just AWEsome.

Having 5ch of amplification, I was able to power the M70's in surround, but after listening for awhile, something just didn't sound right. It wasn't timbre that's for sure. The timbre from the front three to my surrounds was just fine (RTiA9/CSiA6). It was ability for my tower to deliver bass in surround, even powered, it just wasn't clean. It was "craggy" sounding.

I had my M40's on stands mounted in the wide channel, so I got the idea to swap the wides with the surrounds. Oh yeah, the M40's were back at home in surround, that sounded MUCH better. The M40's were able to deliver good clean bass from that spot.

But the big surprise was how the M70's responded in the wide spot, unbelievable sound. The 70's carried the full sound of the A9's during musical scores of any and all movies. When images went off to the side, they "went" off to the side. I was rediscovering the wide channel. My 807 is set to Audysey DSX to matrix the wide channel so efficiently. At moments, the sound from the front stage is "doubled" due to the wides.

Once I sold all of my monitors, I had replaced the M40's with FXiA6's (best surround speaker in my set up to date) but my wide channel now needed replacing and the dilemma was which tower it was going to be?....RTiA5? A7? another pair of A9's? I deliberated, searched and studied and scratched my head till I had groves in it but I finally did it, I snagged an extra pair of A9's for wide duty and man, I haven't regretted not one second of it.

And yes, the A9's are VERY musical for 2ch listening. And, as I think Climber mentioned, amplification is important to bring out the best your RTiA's or RTi's have to offer. I hope this little essay was helpful.

Sold my LSi15's to a very nice gentleman. Great speakers and loved them while I had them. Can't recommend them enough for the price they go for on amazon.

Finally chiming in. LSi9's mains. Just picked up a pair of RTiA9's from Fry's Electronics. Floor models. $427 each. Have had the LSi9's for about 8 years. Also just bought a Denon 3313CI (from an AVR-4306) . I'm planning on moving the LSi9's to the wides and using the RTiA9's for the mains.

Curious as to how you think the LSi9's compare to the A9's. Are you using a sub?

A wife wouldn't just slow me down. She'd probably totally stop me. Think I'll stay single for awhile longer.

Looks like I've found a buyer for my RM6750 set, so I unplugged the sub last night while I was moving components around to center the CS400 under the TV. I was a little apprehensive about not having a sub at all, but then after re-running YPAO a couple times this morning, I watched the last half of Warhorse with the 800i's, 600's and CS400 all set to "large." Bass response in the trench warfare scenes was really pretty impressive. It's almost better not having a sub, than using that crappy little 8" one.

Which is actually bad. I was halfway counting on a lack of satisfying bass in movies leading to positive WAF for buying a new sub. *sigh.

Lol, I almost blew it one night when I had my wife listen to my A9's set to full range without the subs and said, "see honey, isn't that awesome??? you can actually feel it in the floor!!" She looked at me and asked, "So why do we have those ridiculous subs?" I back peddled so fast, I said oh honey, that's not "real" bass, only subwoofers produce "real" bass, she goes "ummm hmmmm" as she rolled her eyes.

Thank God she lets me set up my space like I want it, she's never been a fan of chest pounding bass, but once I added a second empire, she was actually impressed with the improved bass response.

Of course my current set up is sub-less and I rely totally on my A9's for bass, when my wife watches a movie with me, she is very happy with my current set up. It is temporary I assure you, the twins will punch me in the face once again, oh yes, they shall punch me in face once again biggrin.gif

I think it's time for you to change your socks again. We don't want them to get too crusty.

Aaahhhhh, the mighty 4311 with MultEQ XT32............one more reason to add the second sub.

Did you purchase it brand new? I was really close to pull the trigger on a used AVR-A100 few weeks ago, but someone else purchased while I was trying to clarify something about the warranty on that unit.

I'll touch base with you to receive your initial opinion on the 4311. Congrats!

I got a refurb from accessories4less. Too much money for a new one. I'll be able to EQ dual subs with it. The Onkyo 818 can't do that so that's the reason I went with the 4311. I don't want to get into the antimode stuff so XT32 is the next best thing. Should have it on Wednesday. We'll see how it goes. I'll just do without a receiver till then.

Thanks for the info. That series looks like it's a bridge between the Monitor and RTiA series. Those are some bad a$$ looking woofers on those 550T's.

Interesting how the tweeter is back at the top of the speaker (not like the TSi series). Also, it seems the tweeter and mids are enclosed in a sealed configuration. The port at the bottom it seems is only dedicated to the low drivers.

Similar concept like the RTi A9's......pretty cool if that is the case.

Exactly, very close design to the A9's, with the exception as you pointed out, the position of the tweeter however, notice the porting at the bottom doesn't go all the way through for a "power port" design.

I'm telling you, first the TSi's got in bed with the Monitors to produce the "Monitor T" series. Now the Monitor T series has gotten into bed with the RTiA's to produce the "TSx T" series.

Notice the curvature of the cabinet.
