Red2? Excellent!

Ok Rob, in the early scene when the bad guys are machine gunning Franks house, and you get the occasional view from the shooters perspective, that's when the LF's seemed to be hitting the hardest. The A9's became the machine gun.

That, and mj is legal here in WA biggrin.gif

I figure whatever floats yer boat. When I read about some guy pouring hundreds of dollars into nothing more than just WIRE, I tend to not be too judgmental. I treat it the same way I do when driving and encounter some RV towing a boat or trailering jet skis or motorcycles... I just remind myself that this guy has a LOT more money than I will ever have.

Be sure to take the pictures off the walls before firing up that XS30. Congrats on the new sub. Those 14 days will go by like 14 weeks. Would for me anyway.

Thanks Stanley!

It feels like a placed my order like a month ago already.........and it was ordered yesterday......rolleyes.gif

This is the part that I hate on buying things online. But, when I look at the prices at the B&M specialized audio stores around my area....................I realize that I can definitely wait...biggrin.gif

I hear you, There's an audio store not too far from me that sells new and used audio gear. Their prices are pretty darned high. At least they have a web site so I can get sticker shock at home instead of traveling there to get it. They do have a pair of 707's for $2289 which seems fair enough for a retail store compared to new.

Man, that sucks. I tell you what, I'll give you my address and you can send the speakers to my home. I'll take good care of them until your return........I can always use an extra pair of A9's at my room......eek.gif

Jokes aside have a safe trip!!

Oh, about the subwoofer, I'm going to add a different brand this time. I pulled the trigger on a Power Sound Audio (PSA) XS30. Here a couple of pics of this bad boy - did you say your speakers are cherry?:

Why did you go with PSA this time instead of SVS? I have been looking at the SVS SB12's .. But if i don't buy dual subs together i may be able to spend a little more per sub .. and i really want sealed and with decent extension to at least 20hz or lower if possible .. still gotta keep it around the $550 -$750 range

One question, what kind of beer do you have in that fridge next to A9?

Kidding!!!!!!![/quote]

While everyone laughs at the Injun keep in mind that fridge holds 175 cases. wink.gif

Hop over to the DIY side. You can build a few sealed subs that will extend well below 20hz for less than your budget.

Yep, that's per pair but being in the Seattle area the shipping cost would probably kill the deal.

Congratulations on the new toy smile.gif

BTW, why sealed and not ported? It's not easy to mix ported and sealed subwoofers, so you may need to set your PB-13 Ultras two ports closed to avoid cancellation.

Look at this (old company = SVS)

Hi all,

I wanted to drop in and thank everyone for the positive responses to our new venture. Jim Farina and myself are the co-founders of Power Sound Audio. You may not know the name but he and I worked together in r/d for years with my old company. We are currently putting the finishing touches on several designs but I'd guess it will take a few more weeks to wrap that phase up. So it will be a bit before we would like to get into specific details. But we'll try to stop by as much as possible and talk "shop".

In other words, the PSA sub that I purchased has SVS DNA in it........wink.gif

They are starting their company and currently they are offering a tremendous bang for the buck. Check at the XS15 (16Hz-20Hz typical in-room extension - as per PSA's website):

Thanks Enrico!

Well, that was my original concern in terms of what I read and what people told me about mixing subs. However, I went back and forth with Tom V. at PSA to confirm the mix (ported / sealed) should work find due to my room, current gear*, location of the subs, etc.

Of course, the real life test is going to be when the sub arrives and it is integrated at my system. Yes, worst case scenario, I can just tune the Ultras on sealed configuration and I should be fine too. That was one of the reason the PB13 were attractive to me - flexibility to use multiple tunes/configurations.

Sorry for taking the Polk thread off-topic, but I'm really excited about this sub and I tried to talk with my wife about it saying "hey honey, what do you think if we add a new sub to the room"............response:

I remember saying to my mom as a kid that someone must have a lot of money because they had a big house, nice cars, boat etc etc.. She said something that stuck with me to this day, "you can have anything if you want to make payments on it, we don't that. We save and buy what we can afford. And nobody can ever take it from us". So in many cases its the exact opposite. YOU have more money AND brains than them. I always say that as long as they don't ask me to pay for it, it's not my concern.

I just have to tell this one story from when I sold electronics. One salesman was a total tool. We were having car sound wars. It was in July and temps where in the 90's. He told the contestants to turn the heater on full blast to get more db's. What! These kids would walk in ringing of sweat. I told him it was total bs but he went on about the air being thinner and blah blah blah.

And recently I bought a cheap LCD for my porch. And the kid told me that it had sat in the back on its end for awhile so I'd need to set it upright for a week so all the crystals would fall back into place. I looked at my wife, shook my head and said "thanks for the advice". WOW! These people actually believe it and people who don't no better leave their tv for a week to "settle".

Very good advice. All my toys, both car wise and a/v wise are paid in full with cash. If I don't have the cash then no new toys for me. credit is used sparingly in my household.

A couple of months back, Carlos turned me on to PSA and, as a result, I have an XV-15 in my media room and I absolutely loooooooooooooooooooove it. Never knew bass could sound THAT good. My room is also wired for a second sub so further down the road....I may just be adding a second. I got the sub about 2 months ago and I think my wife is just getting over the size of that 92lb. beast!

I should also say that dealing with Tom V. was an absolute pleasure across the board. Their CS can't be beat. He was extremely helpful when it came to giving advice about the room, placement of the sub, etc.

I'd bet my next paycheck that Carlos replaces his subs and has 3 PSA's rockin' that room within the next....say...8 months. LOL.

Well, there's more truth to that than you know..............if your liquid crystal display TV is on it's stand, you can weight it down with strips of lead. Now you have a lead crystal display TV biggrin.gif

I would strongly recommend to touch base with them (PSA folks), they are very helpful indeed, so they should be able to give you more information about how this sub (XS15) should perform at your home and with your system. Oh, and the best part no sale pressure whatsoever!!!
