I called Emotiva on this a couple of years ago. Their answer was, their original specs were modest and underrated, but eventually, they changed their specs to reflect more accurately.

Well, I guess this additions might bring a nice inflow of second hand units X2 and X5 first gen. to the market.

Ok Geoff.........your move!

1000w bridged? Just like an XPR-1 fo sho! Well, for the price I'm getting my Gen1, I'll be happy with a measly 'ol 860w wink.gif

That would be cool. Neither my son or my dad have an interest in H.T. like myself (other than to be a spectator), but my dad was impressed with the set up on his last visit from TX here a few weeks ago. He loves the Eagles, so I gave him a fix cool.gif

Same here. Brought my parents out to visit for a few weeks and my dad actually complained about the noise from movies. He wears ear plugs when he goes to the movies and hates to listen to music. I don't understand it either guys... tongue.gif

I got a Polk Monitor 70 II via FedEx today -- one more coming Monday. Bought 'em on the cheap because I'm out of work for the time being. The reason they were cheap is because the grill "pegs" were broken off into the receptacles on the speakers themselves.

Is this the one with the black face or the silver one? I'm trying to pick up a pair of the black faced ones but cannot find them anywhere.

I say we make a new rule that you're not allowed to put the price down when you get such an incredibly better deal on your speakers than I did... eek.gif

Not quite. The first 105's had a single 12" woofer and were on casters. The rest looks about the same though.

I have a complete set of M70's series II (the ones with the solid black face)... M70's original boxes, matching M40 surrounds and two CS2's plus a CS20. I used to use the CS2's for the rear channels. Where are you located? Shipping would be a bear, but you can have the whole nine yards if you need it.

Pretty spiffy review. Spiffy is the only word I could think of that he didn't use bragging up that amp. I may need one since I'll be picking up those RTi12's tomorrow. Supposed to anyway.

Interesting first impressions. Something we all should keep in my though is that reviewer is an employee and is paid to say wonderful things about emo and all of jade designs stuff. He doesn't hide it, but if one didn't know then they might have a different perspective.

Im more interested in third party reviews.

Did you purchase the RTi12's from CL?

Sweet!

I do agree with you on this. But, until third party reviews are available, at least this review is providing further details on the new amp not covered at the product page.

Now speaking about the XPA-2 Gen 2, it is really disappointing the "bridged mode" can only be used with speakers with 8 ohms impedance or higher........mad.gif

Well, I guess is their way to avoid direct conflict or competition with the XPA-1 market.

I'll be going to look at them this afternoon. He said there were scratches on the cabinet but were very light and hard to notice. Gotta love those cats.

Scratches are scratches, so you must demand a $200.00 price reduction on them...........mad.gif

LOL..........in a seriously note: good luck man, hopefully you will manage to score a good deal here!

The Gen 1 XPA-2 is the same way. With a bridged amplifier, you are going across the output stages with a load in parallel. This play havoc with the amplifier circuits if the load drops too much. The output impedance is halved when bridged. So if you have an 8 ohm speaker and the amp is rated for 4 ohms, when you bridge it, that's exactly what you have. 4 ohm speakers on a bridged amp would in effect be a 2 ohm load. Can you say "ozone maker" when the transistors or caps blow!?!? biggrin.gif Or would the amp just become a space heater in the equipment rack... LOL:cool:

If the Polks don't work out I'm eyeballing some Klipsch KG 5.5's for even less money. Maybe I'll go back to the dark side for awhile. Or should I say the bright side.
