The base added cost, weight, and size to the XV15 without adding any performance related benefits. You can remove the base from yours but the performance won't change. We still offer the original style XV-15 too (with base) in case you want matching pairs down the road..smile.gif

so I guess we know now that it is purely aesthetics. Also good to know that I can get a matching one when I am ready. biggrin.gif

Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

All makes sense the only odd thing(and you could argue they were underpriced to start) is that the price didn't go down for removing the plate but went up for keeping it on.

I guess they priced a bit low to attract "new" customers. It was at the end a new brand, and therefore, they have to penetrate the market with a sub offering a solid performance at a very attractive price (best bang for your buck if you will).

Look at the introductory price of the Triax. My feeling is that sub will see a price increase in the future months as soon units are shipped, customers will be able to provide feedback, independent and trusted reviewers post their impressions (supported by graphs) on the performance of these subwoofers.

Kudos to the folks that pulled the trigger earlier, they supported this new brand and us that are coming a bit late to the party will have to pay a premium for that..........wink.gif

Totally agree just thought it was a weird way to answer the email by saying it added cost but their was no price reduction when not using it. If I was looking now and $800 was my max that's what I would buy.

Dont think this is that good a deal, its about what Polks ebay site sells em for, but the ebay site has a warranty with em. Dont see any up there currently so they might have finally gone through their inventory in which case prices will rise accordingly.

Lol, done deal my friend!

Seems like only last week, my five year old, as an infant, was the crankiest, crying-est baby in the world!!! I had the biggest biceps and shoulders then, 'cause every night, I bounced her on my knees for what seemed hours some nights, just until she went to sleep, then carefully tip toe tip toe tip toe to the crib, and lay down the little feather so it's not disturbed only to catch a couple hours of sleep before "I'm hungry time".

It's hard to believe the little angel in my pic collection could be so much trouble during "sleep" time eek.gif

Yeah - oldest grew up listening to Jean Michel Jarre,

then in Jr High I turned him on to Dark Side of the Moon...

Jump ahead ten years and he reintroduced me to "Days of Future Past".

Introduce them to music early and they will appreciate it the rest of their lives, just as my father did for me.

Pretty slow day today it seems.. thought I'd share.. got to listen to a B&W nautalis system yesterday.. running with a Rotel receiver pumping 100watts to each channel. R and L were biamped with a sonance stereo amp.. it sounded pretty good.

Did an install at this guy's cabin in crested butte Colorado. He bought the house fully furnished. The last moved out and left his entire system.

Wish I could leave speakers like that behind. It would mean I have too much money.

Yeah.. the guy I did the install for paid $2 million cash for the cabin.. it's above a ski resort. It's absolutely beautiful. It's the guys 6th house.

I probably could have waited it out for a slightly better deal through Newegg, but I haven't seen a sale on them in around 5-6 months. I was tired of waiting, I've been researching speakers for around 7-8 months and my receiver is getting lonely.

Thanks for the advice!

You won't regret getting the larger center, especially if you run a window air conditioner in that room in the summertime as I am forced to do. And for those speakers in that smallish space, you should be fine for power with the Yammie 673. I have an Aventage 720 which is nearly identical to the 673, and very similar speakers a couple of generations older than the A5s and A6, and have no problem reaching any reasonable volume level I want, in a room slightly bigger than yours. I rarely feel the need to crank any higher than about -20 dB for music that I really want to be immersed in, and almost never above -25 for movies.

Good call on not waiting for Newegg, too. They haven't really had anything from the RTiA line in stock for 4-5 months except the centers; they seem to be really focused on moving the Monitors. Polk eBay is the best deal around on RTiAs since January, unless you get lucky on Craigslist or a private seller on eBay. I would suggest keeping an eye out for a good deal on A3s for side surrounds (or A1s if space is really a consideration), and then if you want to go full 7.1, get the dipole/bipoles for rear surrounds.

Is anyone in this thread currently using the RTiA3's or the F/XiA4's. Thinking of getting the RTiA3's for a 2.0 setup and the F/XiA4's to use as surrounds in my existing setup.

Yeah, my air conditioner unit can really drown out sound. I have to constantly raise the volume to hear voice, then lower the volume when any type of action happens on screen. I've sold off all of my speakers locally, except for my two front Yamaha NS-555's, so watching movies has been pretty sub par for awhile now.

Calling Polk Direct and getting stock that wasn't shown on the site was a nice surprise. They had exactly what I wanted in Cherry for the LCR, so I jumped on it. They expect to get more of the A1/A3 in Cherry in a couple weeks time. I'll probably go with the A3 because the price difference isn't much, and the drivers would all be matched across the board.

I'm pretty excited, the speakers will be here sometime today.

*A nice little bonus of purchasing new speakers is finally obtaining the boxes/materal to ship out my old speakers, if I can find a buyer online!

Surprisingly enough we already do that. In the car she expects loud music and if I am on the phone she screams till I hang up and then crank it. My mother in law didnt believe me when we told her, but she had to bring Skye back one night and learned firsthand how loud she likes it smile.gif. Shes just like daddy eek.gif

Yeah I am more worried about not waking up when shes crying at night (if she does) as I am a super hard sleeper, but I am confident the dogs will wake me up

Yup, thats the plan so far though she enjoys dubstep and electronic music the most (probably has to do with the consistent bass lines that lull her to sleep)

I have A3's as mains in a small 5.1 setup for TV and casual music in the family room... RtiA3 mains + Csi3 and Rti4 surrounds, small 8" Klipsch SW-350 sub. The A3's are set as large otherwise the subwoofer booms on commercials and news broadcasts. Typically I switch the AVR to stereo (2.0) for news programs. Previously I had used Sony SS-B3000's mains and a Polk CS10 with OWM3 surrounds in there. I like the Rti's much better. Now I have Rti's essentially all around the house. The difference in clarity between the Rti's and any lower priced speaker is amazing.

Jarre is electronic music, and yes, as an infant he really liked the bass beat.
