I ran 300w into my M70's rated at max power of 275w. I cranked the volume, was doing -10, big room (15.5 x 26), man did those M70 sound almost too good to let go, but I sold them anyway, even got my asking price for them. In the near future, I plan to power my A9's rated at max power of 500w with amplification of 860w and looking forward to it. Carlos has already been there and done it.

Besides that, if you're only running the two speakers, you'll be fine, delegate the power to more speakers and rest assured you'll be in no danger of harming the speakers from overpowering.

thanks for the info, was looking at the 67 as its the same price as the 57; the hard part is convincing my mom to let me get it, maybe if i tell her it will make the electric bill go down as its more efficient
post #20374 of 35064
Next time Carlos can upgrade to some Meyer Sound M2D active speakers and save the money of the amps eek.gif

Just to give you an example: in our 1500 seats Worship Center we have 10 Meyer Sound M2D (5 each side on vertical arrays) + two EAW speakers in the center + two EAW SB2001 subwoofers and I can reach up to 115dB easy with no distortion measured from the sound booth who is 75 ft away front those arrays biggrin.gif

Now you know why I enjoy so much when I come home and listen to music at low volumes and relax myself.

YW, try telling her that it's future proof. That this purchase will be an investment that won't turn obsolete after the warranty expires smile.gif

pffft! negative numbers on the volume scale are for wussies. I ran my 70's up to +8 with the xpa-2....loud and a tad unclean, but non-stressed. I couldn't get any of the clipping indicator lights to turn red on the xpa-2!

Hey Todd, I thought I was the Styx fan. Do you have the Regeneration double disc set yet? There's no De Young, but the music is b*tchin'. Remastered to the 9's and sound absolutely killer on the 9's.

hey i am the closeted styx fan 'round these parts!

A guy wants to trade me his NHT Classic Four speakers for my 703's. Not sure if I want to scratch that itch. Anyone ever get to listen to them? The larger woofer would be a plus since I have to sell my sub but I dunno about the rest. Living in an apartment is sure going to have it's minuses for audio. At least there's no yard work.

The only thing I know about the Classic Four is that it needs a lot space around it to sound at its best because the subwoofer on its side. Its very suspicions to me that someone wants to trade a $1200 speaker for a $749 one. Ask him to bring them to your house, listen to them and if you like them, go with the trade. Money speaking looks like a good deal to me, sound wise, I dunno!!!

I just noticed he has them listed on this site. I'm inquiring about them and see where it goes. The LSi15's I owned had a side firing woofer but was only 8". I never paid much attention to NHT speakers before. All I know is the NHT stands for Now Hear This.

Just to update my good polkies. My dog Zeb passed away today at 1:30pm. Our vet came to the house and it was a very peaceful and painless end. His brother of the same age is handling it very well. He is showing his age but still doing well. Thanks for being here guys, I appreciate it. Tomorrow back to the theater so I can post pics. I want all of you to be envious, I mean give feedback. biggrin.gif

Really sorry about your lost. I have a chocolate lab and she is only 4 years old. I cannot imagine how difficult this moment would be for you and your family.

Dogs are indeed truly loyal friends. From the distance a big hug for you man!

Stanley, I think he is a club Polk member and if he is then I vouch for the guy as a stand up dude.

He has them listed on Club Polk as well and he's done lots of business on that site and never had an issue.

I'm not worried about his integrity as I'll be able to give them a listen anyway. I'll be including the speaker stands also. Apparently he has two pair of these speakers and wants to try something different. I've been there many times.

80 buck yamaha 8 inch cheep sub would help to round the 703 to 30Hz for music and would not bug the neighbors.

Yeah, the main reason I may go for the NHT is I may not need a sub. I used to have a Yamaha sub in an apartment and it worked ok without getting the neighbors all riled up. Enrico is braver than I am with his Rythmik in his apt.  tongue.gif He must be dieing for his neighbors to not be home.

Stanley,

I had one complaint only in almost three years and it was before get the Auralex Subdude HD. Believe me, after I got the Subdude HD I had no complaints. Very late last night I was playing at -10dB, went outside my door and no bass or sound at all. That's why I'm getting the second F12SE eek.gif Of course I got the Subdude HD already biggrin.gif

Wow, a 2nd one.  Your apt. must be better insulated than the ones I've lived in. I used to live in an apt. once with a neighbor on the adjoining living room wall and it was pure he!!. More power to you buddy. If it works it works.

Stanley, its the guy from Club Polk for sure. He's a good guy and you will get a GOOD demo with those speakers. Anyway I personally will vouch for him as a stand up guy and he will do right by you.....

I have a question. I found someone selling a Carver TFM-25 amp and a Rotel RB-980BX amp for 350 cash. I'm planning on using these for my center CSi 3 (Rotel) and front RTi 12's (Carver) . What do you guys think ? My receiver is an Onkyo TX NR809. Any advise is appreciated as I will be meeting with the guy tomorrow.

That's exactly what I go through, thankfully it's only from above, and they oblige me from time to time.

Fo Sho.........I've walked into the next room from a sub and felt it more there than in the room it was in. But, it no one is complaining, nicely done Enrico, and congrats on the 2nd.

Hey Edward, good of you to pop in. I don't have any experience with those amps, but I do know, it the guy is on the level, you could ask him if it's okay for him to let you demo them in your set up to see if they work in your set up or not. I'm thinking he'd probably go for that. Doesn't hurt to ask
post #20399 of 35064
Unfortunately he lives 80 miles away and I happen to be working there tomorrow (i wont begoing up there any time soon) so bringing my equipment is not really an option. But thanks for the suggestion

With 7 off, 2 on, 7 off, 2 on, 3 off.. I need to know some things... what are your favourite movies to test your systems surround capabilities. Not just LFE intensive. But just very great audio that will get all seven speakers to shine..

And also some suggestion of your favourite songs.. My favourite music is classical and death metal. By I enjoy all types of music. Jazz, country, pop, rock, electronic(especially dupstep) acoustics, rap. There is great music in all genres. But not any one genre is all great music. To test stereo capabilities. I know without an amp they won't truly shine.. but gotta make the most out of what I have now..
