Hmm, four out of five channels say reversed going through the amp. This cannot be a good sign.

From your receiver to your XPA-5 you should be using interconnect cables, just make sure they are not touching each other at the receiver. Then check the speaker wires from the XPA-5 to your speakers.

One quick test that you can perform is to unplug everything and try one channel at a time. If each of them are working individually, then you can be positive the amp if fine and that you just need to ensure all wires are properly hooked and they are not getting in contact.

Please report back!

You missed one for a decent price a couple weeks ago on ebay. If your trying to find one in good shape for $170 like your ad says then good luck with that. Don't think that's going to happen.

Trying to get my dad off his Bose kick that he's been on for the last 20 years, but he's being kind of stubborn. How should I get him to move on?

Have him read this thread:

Also tell him they have women in mind when they design their speakers.  :D  Hey! Not my words. I'm just the messenger.

There is a person selling a LSiC at the Polk Forum. If you are a member there, you should be able to see this link (no affiliation):

My analysis is YPAO is crazy and someone messed it all up in the last firmware update. I just got to play a couple songs off rhapsody and I see what people have said about the woofers waking up. Now, I need to run this when no one is home and try two channel with out the woofer, see what the 705 can do.

Nicely done Fisch, If I could make one recommendation, I think about putting a tad bit of space between AVR and amp.
Okay, all you A9 owners that have heard that A9's are suitable for "home theater" but music is "okay".

When you can lay a little volume down, and you have a tiny respect for "classic" rock, I encourage you to listen to these tracks; From Eric Clapton's "Complete Clapton" White Room (Cream), Bell Bottom Blues (Derek and the Dominoes) and Let it Grow.

Now granted, there are plenty of awesome hits on this two disc CD, but these listed are a couple of my personal fav's, something that I think you'll all enjoy biggrin.gif

So is the RTi / RTiA line good for music or not? Lately, my wife and I listen to more music than watching movies.

Dude!!!! That's what I'm trying to say! Especially with the addition of MORE power, you can crank these bad boys and they ROCK!!!!!
Gus, what I've noticed with my A9's, is the louder they play, the better they sound (in a large room of course), these bad boys can fill a room easy. And, rated at 500w, I've gone from feeding them 200w to 300w, and soon, to feeding them 860w. Can't wait for that biggrin.gif

I'm trying to see if I can sell my 7.0 set up for $600 locally. If I do, I am probably going to buy the RTiA9 with the Best Buy card since they'll give me 0% interest for 24 months and use the $600 to partially pay it. I've got a QSC GX3 amp to power them. I'm looking at the A9, HTD, EmpTek, and Arx.

Are you going for a pair of A9's mostly for 2ch? As good as these get, my plan is to acquire a pair of LSiM 703's for 2ch.

IMO, the A9 is about the best around to double for H.T. and 2ch. I'm getting to the point where I'd like to move up to the 703 for 2ch. That would be a step above the A9. My system would be perfect, the RTiA series for H.T. and the LSiM bookshelves for 2ch.

I'm going to start with a 2.0, but I am hoping to slowly expand to 7.2.

Yeah, see, I seriously though about upgrading my RTiA's to LSiM's, listed them on CL. But after time, I've settled into my plan.

For you, if you're going 2.0, check out the 703's, reported to be a fantastic musical speaker with impressive bass. You can always add to the H.T. arena later.
