Luckily, since we have 3 kids, the garage being the only attachment points to the either houses the sound insulation is great :-) if it was an issue is gladly remove my subs too.

My house is detached, but every once in a while I get enough of the neighbors chopping wood for their fire pit at 1:30 am, or the dog three doors down yapping incessantly, or the crying baby next door with the windows open, or the smoke detector next door that beeps all friggin' night long...

When I get enough, I open all of the windows and crank the F*** out of the hardest bass songs I have at reference level with the RTiA9s (which are full range) and dual 400W 12" subs. Needless to say, every once in a while, I don't mind being that guy. cool.gif

Oh, I've been out in my back yard yelling "shut your dog up" a few times, but luckily we only have one ignorant neighbor on this strip and we back onto green space so its not so bad.

He's wises up since we all took turns calling the town about his fart can civic revving, company truck parked over the side walks, and stupid dog. There are two sides to the coin and sometimes you gotta play the bad guy, but I won't be the one to start it. My wife calls me the old man, but I'm just intolerant.

As far as the van, you saw Beverly Hills Cop, right? If you use a broom handle, you can get a potato way up near the muffler. LOL biggrin.gif

I called the company number once and told them it wasn't a good advertisement having to walk around it and 10 minutes later his girlfriend was out moving it. Hadn't been parked like that since.

I wouldn't hurt the dog, it's the owner that needs to be trained!

I live in an attached building too. My nehboir has begun complaining every time I watch a movie, which is about twice a month, during the day on a Saturday around 3 pm. I turn the bass down and tired DIY room treatments. Not even at reference level volumes. The landlord has told me a few times to turn it down over the phone. I just explain to them how the noise ordinance law (lack there of where I live) works. So you can pay a few $1000 to evict me or he can suffer through less than 4 hours a month of moderate and considerably toned down movie watching. We plan to move in March.. Some people..

Well, I'm contemplating upgrading my front 3 speaker, but now I am not sure if I am going to stay with Polk Audio. My wife and I are listening to music more often than watching movies, and she stated that our M70s and 25c are too bright and fatiguing. So, she wants something more geared toward music. I do agree with her, and the external amp I was using somewhat helped, but she still didn't like it.

So, I might go with Arx, HTD or EmpTek. I was thinking of going with RTi or RTiA, but after hearing my coworkers RTiA7 I felt they were still too bright for music. The tweeter seems like is high pitch all the time.

About the RTi12s I'm gonna buy. Anything I should look for that would tell me of a bigger issue? Anything my untrained eye might not see? I'll be able to test them but thought you all might be able to tell me things to look for that I wouldn't notice or wouldn't think are big issues. Thanks

Just curious. Anyone in here use their setup for gaming? I'm all hyped up for PS4 Ghosts on Friday.

Anything on the cabinet should be obvious. Just make sure all the drivers work and they don't make any abnormal sounds. Getting excited eh?

Would be nice if you could slip into some LSiM's. Definitely not a bright sounding speaker. The bookshelves are great with a sub. I sure understand wanting to try something different though.

Maybe it's the way your coworker has his 7s eq'd? I upgraded from M70s to the A7s & couldn't be more impressed with the clarity of sound, vocals & especially classical pieces! They provide good bass for 2-ch listening from my Onkyo & altho they could be better mid-range, never thought of them as being bright, but what do I know except what I hear with my ears. Also the cherry cabinets are absolutely stunning imho! biggrin.gif

Waiting for Destiny to come out as well as the next Halo game.

Last time I was really into gaming was playing Unreal Tournament with a bunch of old pharts on our own server. It was a kick in the ass. Used to play Company of Heroes but got burned out on it. Haven't done any gaming since. My brain doesn't move fast enough any more against the young guys. Life in the slow lane.

I found that the polk monitors on an onkyo sound brighter then on the yamaha.

I might grab these if they're still there on Wednesday. Play with them for awhile and sell them for more on audiogon or ebay. Killer price. OBO so he'll probably take 750.

I know someone who sold his LSi setup to get those and has been very happy. You might end up keeping them smile.gif.

P.S. you better have some decent power behind them or its a waste.

Also keep in mind Parts Express sells refurbs so he might be selling you a pair of those as well, and you will need to check the price they are listing for to boot.

Refurbs are 650 each on accessories4less. I'll check them out real careful first. I don't mind refurbs. I've got enough juice to drive them. He has another pair in an unopened box for a grand.
