They're a hell of a lot cheaper and are bountiful on eBay. I picked up the 4s and they are just fine for surrounds, want to give the 6s a try though and move the 4s to Heights.

That's a good point, I might just do that if I can find a good deal. By the way, for anyone that dislikes Paypal as much as I do, you can go through Polk Ebay sales directly over the phone and bypass Paypal altogether if you find something you like on their ebay store. A great experience for sure, and I got my speakers in 24 hours...but of course, I'm about 50 miles away from the warehouse. wink.gif

I've watched a lot of 6s and 4s. I wouldn't buy 6s for more than 135 on Ebay and not over 100 for 4s.

Pictures really don't do the PS4 justice. Maybe the best looking console ever I'd say. I don't get the same "that's purty" feeling when I see my One.

Well finally found a pretty good deal on a pair of RTiA9s... hair over $1k for a new cherry pair including shipping!
I already have the A6 center and using the Monitor 30s... high wall mounted for side, rear and front height surround speakers....
Currently running the Denon 4311 receiver with no external amp but will be looking into an Emotiva in the near future, if I deem it necessary.
Anyway do you guys have any placement recomendations or Audyssey preferences...

Nicely done!!! Welcome to the Polk county club!!

I have a pretty good notion you WILL deem it necessary for an amp.....or two....or three.....

I agree pretty much with Audyssey except I tweak the center some.

Okay, I saw superman

I grew up with superman, I used to piss my mom off by jumping off our roof with a towel tied around my neck because I wanted to fly like superman. I had all the comics!!!!!!!!
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I can understand him killing the dude. In his defense, the victim was not human, and it was either him or the population of the earth, duly noted..........but........superman could not grow his beard unless he was under the red sun, his beard couldn't grow under the yellow sun..........yeah, I have to call BS on that one.

Otherwise, my A9's were putting out some pretty heavy bass and the surrounds were very active.

Yes you do. Amps don't take speaker level inputs. That would be amplifying an already amplified signal. The input gain would be crazy.

I would go to NewEgg, Crutchfield, Amazon, and some of the other good sites and filter the receivers by price and pre-outs. That will give you an idea. Then you can read up on some of the threads over in the AVS amplifier section. I know a lot of the guys here swear by the Pioneers. A couple have Denon's and a few of us have Onkyos. Sub $400 with pre-outs I can not speak intelligently on.

There are a few guys here that rock the Pro Amps as well. They are about as much power as you can get for the money.

edit:

P.S. I just looked around and you are going to have to buy used to find an AVR under $400 with pre-outs. Most are in the $550 to $700 and up range.

here is the cheapest receiver w/ preouts I was able to locate after a quick search. Its older and a refurb but not a bad unit.

Those are nice looking speakers, and for some reason, make me want to change my underwear.

I'm getting test tones from my sub, but nothing from inputs. Any help? Thanks again, I ask so many questions for so little in return lol.

more info needed - you playing a source with x.1 content?
do you have your sub "enabled" in the set up menu of your avr?
do you have your speakers set to small? if so what crossover?
