Now the question I ask myself is do I use the RTiA7's (I have the matching center) that I have or the LSi9's that I just purchased (but I have no matching center) and I'm not using a separate amp just using my onkyo TX NR 809....... I mostly use the system for movies I would say 70/30 movies/music

On paper it would be the 7's since your center is timbre matched but it never hurts to experiment. Of course you'll have to re-run Audyssey again. You might like the 9's better for 2 channel music but the timbre match is nice for HT.

I'll add that mixing 4 & 8 ohm speakers across the front isn't recommended although I've been guilty of it in the past with no problems.

Did you change the color on the walls/subs? IIRC the pics that you posted several moons ago, the paint color was different (I think). Anyways................everything looks pretty cool and I bet it sounds fantastic!

Thanks for the kind words. I really appreicate.

My room has gone through a few iterations but these DIY subs have always been this color. I had a green Bill Fitzmaurice designed sub but shifted it to a buddy.

Yes Stan is spot on. They are lilmike designed horn loaded F-20's. I built them with the Dayton Audio Ultimax 15". Quite the noise makers. Big cabinets = big fun.

Thanks again for all the kind words from everyone.

newegg has the monitor 60's for $134.98 shipped now, were $99 on black Friday. may want to wait till after the 25th and see if they go back down. Two 60's for under $200 would be the best bet.

Yesterday my dog pulled on a power cord to my laptop. Most of my audio gear is connected to the same wall outlet. All power in this room (except for lights) shutdown. All power outlets in this room are dead now. I have to run extension cords to another room. If I connect all to the same outlet even there (in another room) , the power amp and AVR and laptop shut down once every 5-10 mins. But if I connect them to different wall outlets there are OK. So, right now all floors are covered in yellow and orange extension cords and I have no idea what to do. I reset circuit breakers in the garage - didnt help. All outlets are dead in my office.
Questions:
1) Why did this happen? So dog yanked power cord from the wall - how did this shutdown power to audio hardware?
2) What broke?
3) How do I fix it?
4) Is there not enough power, that is why they shutdown?
5) Do I need a power conditioner?
Thanks a lot.

Thank you for all your help on this matter - above.
The answer was in one of your replies, it just took me two days to comprehend the obvious.
I followed your suggestions and reset the breakers in garage. No luck. I went to a local Lowe's and got a new power outlet. Still no luck. All hardware works if I run an extension cord from another room. At this point I decide to call an electrician. Well, sort of. Its my neighbor who as far as I know has held any job there is (short of the presidency) , so he might as well had been an electrician some time in the past. What I didn't know is that the jobs he has held all had one thing in common - they didn't require the use of brain power by any stretch of imagination. As it turns out, being an electrician is not one of them. A lot of thinking, planning, measuring and other important actions are involved.
Abe (his parents were off by just one letter when they were naming him, I think!) arrived with an impressive tool belt and went straight for the fuse box. When the electricity was turned on for the tenth time I explained to him once again what the problem is and what I have already done to no avail. Abe scratched his head and told me there was something wrong with my "GPS or something like that". He then proceeded pushing "TEST" and "RESET" in all power outlets in the other rooms - kitchen, living room, etc. He did it with a screwdriver which was one size down from a jackhammer. I told him that the problem is with all the dead outlets in my office, but he replied "well, but there is nothing to reset in your office".
One of the outlets next to refrigerator gave him trouble. Abe pushed "TEST", but the "RESET" button would not pop out. He took out the same ginormous screwdriver a broke the "RESET" button completely. A spring fell out, some pin, parts of the plastic button. Abe cursed, told me my whole house was falling apart and he cannot work with such old equipment (actually the whole kitchen was remodeled only 3 months ago with wall outlets, kitchen sink, granite counter tops, - the works!), and finally left. I am not sure who was more embarrassed - him or me. Probably me.
Finally, I turned the power off in the whole house, inserted the pin and the spring in the gaping whole left by the destroyed "RESET" button and pushed it. It clicked. I ran back to the garage and turned the power back on.
Now it works.

The secret was to reset it in all outlets, in the other rooms, even though my office does not have the "RESET" buttons! Now I know.
You guys are great! Thanks for the help. I promise to read your suggestions more carefully. If I did what you've told me this would have been resolved two days ago without any monkeying around.

I'm gonna give those Revel Performa F30's a whirl. If I'm not careful I'll end up with as many speakers as you and Carlos have.

I think you're confusing speakers with women.

So, I need to move quick.  What is the opinion of the cognoscenti?  I have the choice for essentially the same price (410-428) between a set of new Monitor 65T from newegg and "factory refurbished" TSi400 from the Polk store on ebay.

I'm going to pull the trigger in the morning.  Any strong feelings one way or the other?

Jason can answer that. He's full of cognoscenti.  :D  I have speakers to help unload.

why thank you stan. tongue.gif

get the one that is the visually appealing to you. sonically there is very little if any difference between the monitors and tsi series.

Another thing to consider since they are virtually the same speaker...New usually = 5 year warranty and Refurb usually = 2 year warranty.

Here they be. Initial impression:

They look better in person than in the photo and are in Perfect condition.

They sound really really good.

They don't have the bass depth and quality of bass  the 107/2's do but I've yet to hear anything else that does.

Great mids and highs though. I still have to try a movie and see what I think. The CC is being held for me and will grab it later.

Revel charged extra for the grill covers? How odd is that? He had those too but I didn't put them on (like you couldn't notice).

I like the adjustment for the tweeter level in the back cause it looks pretty when your behind them.

Heavy to move for old people.

Will I flip them? Maybe.
