Ouch. You can always say it's to blend the many nuances of the bass sound spectrum. Hey, I like that...think I'll use that myself. biggrin.gif

They've been around for a while. She was like 16 when she released her first EP in 1999. For all these years, I've wished she'd put out a heavier album. She certainly has the pipes and the guitar chops for it. It's not bad, just not heavy enough for me biggrin.gif \m/

Lol, anytime I get questioned by my loveliness, I just make stuff up, like, "Well honey, because of the Hz to bass pressure ratio in relation to the synchronization of the voltage sphere, this system HAS to have subs"

My new goal for the day is to use that phrase in a sentence with a straight face. Thanks Geoff biggrin.gif

thats gonna hurt....

Aren't the towers like $2000 each? The center is an afterthought after those smile.gif

Whoopsie..........you'll need to tap into a whole new vane of BS biggrin.gif

Ender's comment about the LiSM center is just part of the reason I won't upgrade unless a billion dollars falls into my lap.

Just after I got my second set of A9's, I listed everything to sell to upgrade my entire system to the LiSM's...........no success. So, I'm dedicated to maxing out my RTiA's to perfection and acquire the 703's to incorporate a 2ch set up.

They are, but I will tell you anyone looking at the towers needs to remember that honestly the 703's + a good sub will still be cheaper.

The 703's are ALL you really need as fronts, unless you get a Friends and Family code. And then the 705's over the 707's.

I had the 703's in my house for over a month a couple years back (before they hit the street eek.gif) against my 15's.

To my ear they simply were not as good as my 15's (withstanding any comments about bass).

That said for fronts, they would work MUCH better than the 705's if you paired em with a really good sub. Which you could considering the cost difference between the towers and the 703's.

You could get DUAL subs for that price and REALLY rock out.

So I continue to hold my suggestion that while I LOVE my 15's, for someone NOT getting a deal on em, go with the LSi 7's (or 703's) and a REALLY nice sub and you will be in the same territory as the towers and IMHO BETTER OFF.

So you'd suggest 4+ 703s, a 706, and some kickass subs and call it a day?

If you look at the 703, it's the top part of the 707 tower. Enders makes a valid point here. You'd be getting the best part of the Flagship tower and saving $$$$ in the process by just using the top (703) and a good sub...or two.

Right, but I'd need at least six 703s for 7.1, and more to scale up, obviously. Unless you're suggesting to pair the 703s with something else?

That's good to know on what not to do...lol...my wife already feels like there is enough bass when I talked about getting a sub (or two) down the road! Yeah, that conversation is never gonna be brought up by me again.....ONLY after I have bought them!!! hahaha

4 703's with the 706 and a pair of the 702FX

Actually, the more subs you have, the better your bass response is. When I told my wife I was getting a second Empire, she simply smiled and said "Okay". When it showed up, the fit hit the shan!

She thought I was kidding. After I got the dual subs dialed in, she came down for a listen, then looked at me and said, "Well, I'm actually impressed" (mine hates bass too). Of course, I had them dialed down way low for her demo biggrin.gif

Oh yeah I forgot, it has to be angry and heavy LOL. I saw an interview with Dee Snider of Twisted Sister one time, saying he was sitting by the lavish pool at his million dollar mansion trying to write the next angry youth anthem, and then it dawned on him...what do I have to be angry about? wink.gif

Hrm:

4x703 = $3000
1x706 = $1200
2x702 = $1500
Another 15" sub = at least $700

Total = $6400

It's gonna be a while biggrin.gif

Yeah, that's not too bad when you factor out the tower cost. Don't forget, as if you need any more shoving, Polk offers the 6 easy pay plan. I've gotten a few of my speakers that way. Get one or a pair, how ever you want. Make a downpayment, they send 'em out, you make 5 more monthly payments, then get your next pair, stick that in your fuse box biggrin.gif

Hey now, I take issue with the "angry youth" assumption. smile.gif I said heavier, not angrier...she can keep her lyrical styles and themes, I just wish the riffs and drumming would hit a little harder. And there's plenty of heavy stuff that's not angry. This will break your neck, but it's almost entirely in major chords (almost unheard of in brutal death metal biggrin.gif) and the lyrics are about spirituality and other uplifting themes (of course, you can't understand anything he's saying without the lyrics in front of you, and even then, since English isn't his first language it's a little stilted). I freely admit, it's not for most people (let alone everyone), but if you can get past the growling, the musicianship is incredible. In fact, it might be the best 72 minutes of drumming prowess I've ever heard...if you don't believe me, check out 48:58 to 50:30 (I promise, no scary growling that whole time...just amazingly technical, insanely fast drumming talent on display). Of course, I'll get flamed for even posting it biggrin.gif

Stanley you were warned about clicking my links several pages ago biggrin.gif But seriously, click the second link to 48:58, no lyrics, just major chords and drumming. Heavy, but not angry!

Ahh I do believe you are correct, hmmm.
That is very unfortunate my friend. Don't worry, when you finally do get them hooked back up and dialed in I'm sure you'll be amazed all over again, they look like beasts.

Oh I believe it. I listen to stuff like this all the time using IEMs (Etymotic ER-4Ps, which are literally my most prized possession...I have two pairs JUST IN CASE something happens to the first one...I'd have to stay indoors lest I be forced to interact with the outside world on my way to work biggrin.gif). Between that and the live shows, I'm pretty sure I'll be deaf in a few years.

Yeah, keep those bad boys handy at all times. My hearing is really bad due to concerts, headphones, and working in a computer environment for many many years. Wish I had been a little smarter back in the day.

...and now back to drumming. You want to hear a couple of the best drummers of all time? Here ya go (Stanley, these will be right up your alley).
