That's pretty cool ....... congrats on your system, welcome to the family. Let's go over really quick on a couple of rules:

First - you must post your initial impressions on the speakers as soon they are hooked up.

Second - pics are a must. The more the better!

Third - don't bother to put your credit card back in your wallet..... with the folks here you will be using it in no time.

Fourth - please make sure to give a hard time to Stanley, Geoff, Jason, Big Chief, Climber07, Enders, Gus, Fresh, Migrane, just toname few.

Once again congrats and welcome home!

An official welcome......and do watch out for Carlos (CR), he will try to spend your money faster than he spends his own biggrin.gif

Boys, I've go both show and tell and to tell a show, first to tell of the show.....my wife is at her parents very far miles from me, with our daughter. So, I'm dog watching her black lab. She does quite well at my place, but tonight, my neighbs are gone, so I'm testing the limits of my ears, my dueling XPA-2's hit four lights each per speaker (2ch) My gosh, the wonderful pain biggrin.gif

The bass coming from those A9's had the bottom ports-a-chuffing big time, June (the dog) was a very curious girl and decided to "sniff" it out, she stuck her snout so far into the port, she was wearing my speaker for a hat, couldn't get a pic off in time.....it was priceless.

Now for to show for what I've been doing while my A9's and XPA-2's have been working very hard.......................

This was pretty constant, there were several surges that gave me eight lights per side but were just that, so no pics of the eight. Jason, wish you were here, unbefreakinglievable.

I've been working on my garden hoses, one rear done....................... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Man those look nice.

I'm a little envious of the dual XPA-2s too bro. The RTiA9s can pump out some serious bass with the right power... cool.gif

...and yes I'm still up. Have to assemble all of the crap Santa delivers! rolleyes.gif

Thanks Dave. Those XPA-2's are between 860 and 1000w in bridged mode, so I'm hoping I've got the "right" power biggrin.gif

The tunes I'd been jamming through, just grabbing CD's and picking out songs, "Hitching a ride" from Boston, several from Styx; Snowblind, (the pic is during that song), Queen of Spades, Man in the Wilderness, Clapton; Bluejean Blues, Let it Grow, Skynnard; Tuesdays gone, Simple Man, Eagles; Hotel California and then a home made CD with mixed rock and country..........I can't wait to do it again biggrin.gif

Oh Jason, let this be your song list for the day

I'm from Texas baby!!! I may have rocked the majority of my cells away, but country just couldn't be forgotten. It's encoded as a base line and acts as a default if any "scary" stuff tries to invade biggrin.gif

Now, it's time to introduce some Bohn Scott to my system biggrin.gif

Lol, I played it three times last night, once on original recording and twice on a remastered CD titled Regeneration. I had to do Queen of Spades twice from that CD as well. There was no such thing as too loud last night. My neighbs were gone from 6:30 to just after 11pm (dude will txt me and say "Hey, me n Christy are heading out, time to crank it").

I've been here for a year and that was the loudest I've had my system, there's a chance I might even do it again today.........if I can just get this blood to stop dripping out of my ears biggrin.gif

Hey

Merry Christmas

I've got a PL-200 and will decide after I hear the RTi10s if I need another. Plus the room is a finished basement with a drop ceiling. Its great for running wires and has the heavier 2x2 acoustic tiles but at a certain point they will start to vibrate and make noise with too much bass in the room. May need to put some weight on them or insulation of some kind above them.

Thanks!

First - will fore sure.. but won't they get even better after some breaking in? how long does that typically take with Polks? I can just leave it run non stop during the day to get it over with. What volume level is good for breaking them in (130w/ch denon)

Second - no problem, need a reason to dust off the SLR smile.gif

Third - no need to remove it from the wallet, its on file at amazon biggrin.gif lets hope they don't get hacked like target ! Just got an Oppo BR player too, which is awesome for streaming MKV & FLAC files, but that was a gift from a client.. next on my list will be upgrading the Epson 6500UB and possibly the screen from 110 to 120 and better screen material.

Fourth - lol.. wil do..

Where do you get those garden hoses, I haven't seen those at Lowes? biggrin.gif Seriously though, I've pondered upgrading the speaker wire, running a good basic 12awg right now, but was thinking maybe running something a bit better, at least for the RTI10s, but then everything I read here says there's no real benefit and that even the plugs are pointless unless you need to unplug them often, which I wont. Thoughts and recommendations ?

Good morning Kuch and Merry Christmas.

Since I've been using banana plugs, life became a little easier. I'm the kinda guy that loves to tweak with my system......changing speaker positions, running Audyssey four or five hundred times biggrin.gif

I started with 14g, moved to 12/4 then 10g. The charts tell you that you don't need such a low resistance cable unless your runs are super long.

I prefer the low resistance cable just because, I'm running med to high power amps so the big fat cables is what I get.

I don't go expensive, or at least to some. How about I say, I don't go cheap?

You mentioned Lowes, Lol, that was where I got my 14g, worked great too. Moved up to Monoprice for the 12. Got me some 10g Emotiva for my mains and now have Furez 10/2 for my rear A9's and 13/4 with a 9/2 conversion for my center. I love the DIY methods on what I can work with, cables, cabinetry.

If you want to take a look at Furez, check out http://douglasconnection.com/Raw-Cable-for-DIY_c17.htm

Doug is a really cool cat, and he's down in Austin.

Oh Yeah, Leslie West gets some MONSTER TONE...that guitar snarls like a big dog. Speaking of Rush, I recently saw a documentary on them "Beyond The Lighted Stage". Really really sad about Neil Pearts family. Losing both your wife and daughter within 10 months must have been devastating.

I know some of you might be enjoying a White Christmas, but there's nothing quite like 75 degree, blue sky So. Cal Christmas like we're having today. In honor of this great cruising Christmas weather, I leave you with a top 10 hit from the summer of my 11th year...1971.
