Long time Polk owner here with a question about audio static.
Here's my setup:
Rti38s - sitting in a closet...
DSW MicroPro 2000 sub
Outlaw Audio 7125 amp
So I've noticed that occasionally when watching a movie that scenes where a person yells that there is a bit of static that I can slightly hear. I thoughtbi heard it the other night while watching chapter 3 of Thor. One of the frost giants yelled and i swore that i heard a faint pop or static type sound but my wife says that she heard nothing I've read that this could be attributed to the audio mix but I am trying to figure out if there is a way to determine that the speakers are not actually blown somehow.
Download high quality flac or mp3 test tones and run them on your suspect speakers. You can adjust the volume to see if they produce the anomaly as the volume increases. Make sure you download all freqs at 10 Hz increments from 20 - 200 and 1k increments from 1k - 20K or download a sine sweep (below).
You'll probably not hear the 15K or above, but if the tweeters are making any popping or cracking noises at those freqs, you'll hear that.
