Well, I moved the loudspeakers a bit more out from the wall and away from each other and bam, microdetails.... finally...!
I actually just moved mine into the corners about 12" from the wall, rather than the WASP setup I had before, and discovered tons of bass I never knew they had. I feel like I lost a little prescence in the midrange (might be my huge CRT TV sitting in the middle of them), like snares don't seem as punchy as before, so I'm going to need to play with it a little more, but I really like the extra bass. The soundstage is a lot wider and more natural sounding too besides the midrange thing I mentioned.

Hey guys,

I finally had the chance to setup the Diamond 9.4's and CS. I'll post pics soon. Have them running through an Onky SR308, and while they sound incredible, the tweeter on the left channel is not outputting any sound! Anybody have experience with STO warranty? Is a tweeter fairly painless to replace?
Have you tried hooking up just the top terminals on that speaker with no jumpers? Besides that I'd call STO right away.
Wow, I feel dumb. The jumper bars had fallen off the left speaker during unpacking. Guess its absence just shot right past me since i've never owned a bi-wired speaker before. Thanks alot for noticing that, heh.
Don't worry about it, it happens. It actually might be a good idea to replace the jumpers with speaker wire jumpers as the brass jumper bars usually aren't very good. I have mine like this:

Anyway glad to hear you like them, enjoy! Looking forward to the pics. Also, how do you think they compare to your previous speakers?

Hello, Ice!

Yes, I did.

I think I've mentioned that I have three systems in my house. Well, over the last few years I've also purchased several Jamo speakers (Jamo C809, C807, C803, C607 and C603) for the other systems.

After six years of living with the Opus 2, the Jamo C809 system have displaced my Wharfedale Opus 2. It was a tough call and I listened, thought about it and listened some more.

What it comes down to is this. The C809 have an overall better balance of sound and the bass is incredible. The Jamo's also have this overall seductive, very musical sound that just sounds so good with all kinds of music. Even moreso than the Opus 2.

It's the same with the Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand, but moreso.

Overall balance is fanatastic. And again, there's this seductive warmth and musicality that surpasses the Opus 2 and C809. Yet, detail is wonderful. Very engaging speakers that draw you in and simply play the music so well.

And the synergy with my McIntosh MC252 amp and C220 Preamp....is out of this world.

Never fatiguing...never harsh.

They're just such a pleasant speaker to listen to. Can't fight it

Curious, have you ever tried the newer OpusII-3's?? You had the first edition right?

Yes, I have the original First Edition Opus 2.

No, I've never heard the OpusII-3's.

After further consideration, I lowered the price to $1,300.00 for the Opus 2 and Opus Tri-Center Channel. For quick sale, hopefully

Can't argue that's not a great deal.

Wish I had the money...

thats a good price, too bad you are kinda far away, not sure the the opus 2 can make it safely to MA. Do you want to sell the center seperately? if so, how much shipped to MA?

Guys, I have a few questions for you all.

Who here has heard both an original Opus Series speaker model and an Opus V2 speaker model?

What do you think of the tweeters in both series?

Is the tweeter in the original Opus series less smooth, less musical, less pleasant; when compared to the tweeter in the Opus V2 models?

What's the difference between these tweeters?

What's the difference in terms of audible differences?

Or are they equally smooth, musical and pleasnt to listen to?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I own the Opus 2 model (original Opus series, not the V2), which I'm selling and I was looking for people's experience with the two series and how they compare. Specifically the tweeter.

Hey Guys,

Thought you guys might be interested that I have put a recently bought Wharfedale 9.CS cherry center channel one up for sale at ebay. It is in like-new condition, bought just under a month ago, and as such is still not broken in. I am getting rid of it because I neither have the space or need for it, decided to use my 9.4's as a 2.1 system. If you are interested, please PM me for further informaton.

Hello Wharfedale owners. I emailed Wharfedale so they can direct me to authorized dealers in the states, specifically in New York. If any of you are in this area, where did you buy your speakers? Also, what would you guys recommend for a small apartment living room, roughly 12x12x8? I want towers speakers but no overwhelming large one's. I have a set of bookshelves now that I'm looking to upgrade.

Hey, I got mine through STO Sound & Vision at tsto.com - They carry the Diamond 9 series at very reasonable prices.

You can also get them through Wild West Electronics - The Diamond 10 Series

I would get the Diamond 9.6 or the Opus II if I could choose again!
Thanks hi_fi82 will look into it. How do Wharfedale compare to Bowers & Wilkins.

Sorry I can't comment from personal experience, I did read about a better cooling design and some pretty hefty upgrades all across the board. Perhaps you should order a pair from WWE and get it in your room and do a comparison back to back, then sell or return

I've heard the B&W 804N and it sounded great, however, I felt them to be a tad fatiguing to my ears, so I opted to the OpusII which I thought are more detailed and not fatiguing at all. Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but the OpusII's sound great as well.

Perhaps the smallest EVO2's (Evo2-20) floorstander, or the Diamond 9.4's/10.4s'. Should be more than enough for that small of a room.
Or if you aren't strict on floorstanders, Evo2-10s which would have close to the same performance as Evo2-20s sans a few hz in bass extension and are much cheaper on STO's eBay store right now.

I changed my mind.

I ordered a pair of the Wharfedale Opus 3 v2 from my long time authorized dealer. Ordered them in the Cherry Piano Gloss finish. Unfortunately, that finish is not available in the USA, right now. So it's a special order and I have to wait till the second week of August, for them to arrive.
Which is the entry level and "reference level" of Wharfedale? Is Diamond entry level and Opus its best?
