I can't really say I have noticed any reductions in PQ.
According to WVLT's engineer which I chatted with back in January, he told me at that time that WTNZ had just put a new Harris Selenio multiplexer on the air, and its the same one WVLT has been using as well. He said they do an incredible job with muxing everything together. He also had said he was planning on doing 1080i with 8.1 but I do not think they have made the change yet. He wasn't very optimistic about the change either saying that interlaced tends to be plagued with distortions and imperfections, but he hoped it would work out okay. Last I heard they were waiting on Charter to fix some issues at there headend with there Motorola Cherrypicker modulator before they made the changes to 1080i at WVLT.
Anyway thats all the info I can give out for now, and I will say that we can be optimistic about possibly having DD 5.1 in the future for CBS but thats all I can say.
