I get a clean signal of all Philly stations in southern Chester County with my attic mounted UHF antenna and preamp. However, I have always had trouble with 29-1. The signal strength at my location must be marginal because I often get pixelization, freeze-ups, and sometimes short-term loss of picture. I think their transmitter is not as high and not as powerful as the other stations. My picture quality often is dependent on weather conditions. Last night's NFL game was typical for me with periods of no problems followed by some rough spots.
Here's the FCC DT info for Philly. HAAT is Height Above Average Terrain:
Call Channel Service Status ERP HAAT
KYW-TV 26 DT CP 770kw 375m
WPSG 32 DT LIC 250kw 400m
WYBE 34 DT LIC 500kw 343m
WTXF-TV 42 DT LIC 305kw 161m
WTXF-TV 42 DT APP 1000kw 163m
WTXF-TV 42 DT CP 1000kw 280.7m
WPHL-TV 54 DT LIC 500kw 354m
WPVI-TV 64 DT CP MOD 500kw 390m
WCAU 67 DT LIC 560kw 377m
Notice how much lower WTXF is. I think my distance from the antenna, and their low height, accounts for my troubles with WTXF but not the other stations.
