I've had the NEC 50XR5 since early 2006 and it's performed flawlessly since. I have only used 720p to it since then on my Xbox 360 and my HTPC has only output it's native 1365x788 resolution to get 1:1 pixel mapping through DVI.
However, I want to upgrade to 1080p all around as I have a new receiver that supports HDMI, upgrading my HTPC which will output HDMI and support 1080p and also later on get a bluray player.
I was surprised to find out that the 50XR5 does not support 1080p
over HDMI, but rather only 1080i
. However, 1080p
is supported over component. I've already read stuff that says that the set doesn't support 1080p "natively" at all, so it's downconverting it to the native resolution of 1365x788.
SO I'm wondering what the best course of action is. If it is advantageous to feed it 1080p signals through component, I would look into the HDFury2
which will allow me to plug everythign into my Onkyo 1007 receiver, and take the single HDMI output, plug it into the HDFury2 and convert it to component for the 50XR5.
If 1080p input on component is converted to something other than 1080p, this plan doesn't seem to make sense and I should just feed it 1080i or lower.
Anyways, I'm overall confused and would appreciate some advice
