Unless you've got perfect speakers that are perfectly placed in a room that is acoustically perfect, one could argue that any system would be better with such calibration and correction than without it. With Mirage speakers in particular, because of the way they use room reflections more than most other speakers, room correction becomes even more important.

XT32 makes a night and day difference in my set up.

What does everyone power these with? I was planning on using an Onkyo 3009, because I like Audyssey calibration and Audyssey DSX for movie watching. However, the guy I talked to at vanns strongly suggested against the Onkyo. He said since the Onkyo runs hot, I can agree there as my 707 definitely runs hot, that running 6 ohm speakers with it would be a very bad idea as it would just run even hotter. He suggested using a Yamaha, saying that Mirage and Yamaha pair very nicely together. Only problem I have with that is that Yamaha doesn't have Audyssey, and I can't find any information about how their 9.2 channel creates the extra channels. So, what do you guys use?

Kinda seems like he's blowing smoke. I use a Denon and lots of other guys here do with no power issues to note.

It doesn't use audessey but something similar. I have an onkyo 805 and had no such heat issues running the mirages..

Scroll up to Spurrier's post and click on his set-up, he has one. Also, look at how his Mirage system has evolved along with the rest of his audio rig. Absolutely gorgeous!

Stay on them with that price match. It took them forever to price match my 15s at $399.. They said 5-7 days it took bout 2wks or little more.. I kept calling and they kept telling me they would send to manager and just felt like it was getting lost some where in the exchange. But it did eventually get done!

Off topic for a sec, I have a Yamaha-RX867 and I am just trying to figure out exactly what the "Cinema 3D Display Mode" does? It only is capable of being turned on/off HDMI4 which my PopcornHour is plugged into. I haven't got chance to look at the manual yet but was wondering is this feature worth having ON?

I'm using an Onkyo 809 to power two OMD-15's, four OMD-5's and an OMD-C1. It doesn't play as loud as my ElectroVoice Interface C's with 250 watt/channel Parasound but I would not expect it too. However, it certainly does not run hot. From what I've read on the Onkyo forum the 809 does run cooler than some of the earlier models. I've had it cranking for pretty long periods of time with the volume set at 90 and the top cover is barely above room temp. Never had the fans turn on.

Similar, but YPAO doesn't EQ below 63Hz (unless they changed that), so it's no EQ on the sub...

And many agree that Yamaha's Adaptive DRC is inferior to Audyssey Dynamic Volume or Dolby Volume. Of course, this is subjective...

Dynamic Range Compression - to control wild volume swings in a similar manner to Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dolby Volume... but doesn't seem to do it as well.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll probably end up with the Onkyo as planned then. Btw, UPS dropped off a Mirage pile today, I'll post a pic later. Problem is, I'm so far out on my theater build that they'll just taunt me. I grabbed them now before they no longer exist. How do you all like the sound of the Mirage/Onkyo combo? The Vanns guy said that the Mirages sounded the best with the Yamah as well, I'm just not liking the features.

Hey Bluvette, how do you like the Mirages with the Emotiva's? What do you have powering what? Also, is that a Dennon receiver? Is it powering any speakers or just lined out to the Emotiva amps? Thanks!

Hey Sean, good eye. That is a older picture since then I moved the Denon up to my family room and got a Integra DHC-80.2 for the HT. The 2 mains OMD-28's are powered by 2 Emotiva XPA-1's and the rest of my channels by a XPA-3. The 28's love the power, the Mirage work very well with the Emo's. How does the Integra sound compared to the Yamaha? Improvement? Is it better for HT? Audessy XT32 much better than YPAO?
