According to google maps, I'm about 390 miles away. I don't know if you consider that close or not.

Okay, I'm a little (a lot) creeped out! I just went to Google Maps thinking I'd see how far I am from Fort Wayne. I clicked on the little street-view guy, just for kicks...have you ever seen that thing??? I was literally able to "drive" up my street, turn up my own driveway, and see my daughter's car sitting in front of my house! All photographically. All accurate. This is a stalker's dream....and pretty scary for the rest of us.

LoL! I have some neighbors, an older couple that live in a tiny gingerbread house, who we all kind of laugh at because they are so paranoid. They have an iron gate on their little gingerbread driveway (through which they drive their little Smart Car), and placards for their security service posted all over the lawn. Even their screen door has a dead bolt, and they have the only locked mailbox on our street. (Their HT system is a 13" Magnavox CRT that sits on the piano, and they have nothing that anybody would want, but I guess that's beside the point.) They would absolutely s**t bricks if I ever showed this to them! They were already scared that somebody was watching....

Guys,

Need help! A friend of mine has a pair of STS DT's and one of the speakers is is outputing a low frequency audio hum when powered up but no input from a receiver/amp. Swapped position with the good working speaker (output from receiver and power outlet) but to now avail. Anyone have any idea why I would have a hum. Speakers are only 6mos old.
^^ Others have had that problem and when they finally get it fixed it seems that it always comes down to a bad amp.

Seeing that stack of Onkyos, I'm reminded that your volume and channel balance control must be quite a chore. When's the new AVR going in?

I just came from buying an "all functions working normally" Onkyo 805 for $398 shipped from ebay! I am very excited
The same seller has 2 more up that will end in about 12 hrs if anyone else is in the market.

I should have sold one of mine when I could still get $500 for it. They've so solid, I've had a hard time parting with either one, even though I've since gotten an 876 and a 5507.

I use my 805 in my main system mostly as a preamp. I have three stereo amps also in use. One bridged for the center, one for the side srurrounds and one for the rears. I found the amps so good in the 805 that they are driving my mains (BP7001's) and the sound is awesome.

I was tempted to get one of the new integra dtc processors but I am very happy with my 805. I have outboard amps but will be using it to drive some dt aw6500's this summer. On a side note, I really let my system rip today. First time since I added the phoenix. Have had it at -12 before but went to -5 today. The pod scene in war of the worlds was downright scarry.

I just replaced my preamp in the BP7000SC. It appears that the replacement is a little different.

1. The replacment doesn't have some sort of component zip tied to the main AC wires coming in. I'm not sure what it is since it's wrapped in some kinda of rubber or plastic wrapping.

1. The replacement has the main white AC wire attached at the bottom of the preamp board instead of the left side of the preamp.

3. Also looks like there is on more component on the left side of the replacement preamp.

4. Also the replacement states Definitive Technology in the middle of the boad where as my bad one states just ZEON 2 94v0.

5. And the final thing I can find, is that the Optional LFE input, has a white plastic ring under the gold nut where as the bad preamp has a red one. There is also some more print on the outside of the panel, some kinda of saftey tested..

Anyone know the differences between the preamps? Not sure if the replacement is a newer version of the preamp or an older one. I just got the BP7000SC no longer then 1 year ago.

Thoughts?
As a side note, anyone know what the two harnesses on the left side of the preamp board? Just curious, wondered if it has kinda accelometer type device on the woofer kinda like on my HGS18 to prevent clipping, distortion, etc.

I also did some looking on Ebay, and it appears that my replacement amp looks almost like a preamp for a BP3000. Just not sure if I had the extra connector for the RC in.

Also seems like the speaker with the replacement preamp stays on 5-10 minutes longer then the orignal one.

Thanks!

Looking for some sound advice on what sub to get. I recently purchased and love the DT SM450, CLR2002, and BP1.2x and now im looking for a Sub. I have been looking at SVS PC12NSD or PC12 Plus. Between the two i cant figure out what will be suffice for my 26x13x8 room. The SM450 have some sort of bass and i cant justify the extra $400 between the NSD and the Plus models. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Given that you are considering two SVS subs, I'd recommend emailing SVS with your information. They are very good at helping make the right choice. In my experience, they are not unwilling to suggest the lower priced alternative if it fits the customer's needs.

it can never hurt to go a little extra on the sub if you can swing it

always good to have extra head-room instead of not enough

more headroom means less distortion when pushing the system extra hard

it might also mean less distortion when pushing the sub not so hard. the less the driver has to move the better

Pull the trigger on the SVS PC12 Plus. Spoke to a rep at SVS and they said that the PC12NSD or the PC12Plus would work in my room. So I went with the latter. I guess it never hurts to have a little head room. I hope!

I brought it down to -23 after that, had to let my heart rate get back to normal. Gonna go there again soon, probably with some music this time. May be with "all in the suit you ware" by stone temple pilots. Is this a kick ass hobby or what?

Good choice. Now you don't have to have the "I should have gone with plus" mindset.

I have a remodeling question/concern.
With the moving and adding of walls in my listening/living room, I feel that I will have to go without a ceiling fan in there.
Consider this;
Everyone has probably talked (or sang ) through the turning blades of a floor fan and heard their voice get chopped to pieces. I'm wondering if the same effect could be possible in my listening room due to a ceiling fan with larger blades.
Of course it wouldn't be the same as the sound injected directly into a fan, but would it be possible to still have some blade interference .

I have a ceiling fan in my family room, and in the summers it can get pretty warm in there, necessitating having the fan on full speed. The only thing I've noticed is a higher noise floor for the room (obviously), but no actual distortion of the sound itself.

I just picked up a new center speaker from EBAY. It looks like a CLR 1000 but is only labeled CLR on the wiring posts. It has two 6.5 inch drivers, a 1 inch tweeter and two ports low on the front on either side of the tweeter. Is it a CLR 1000, before the 1000B?

Only the sweet sound from my Definitive speakers made that game enjoyable. I've now watched the Vikes lose another NFC championship game...argh. I've got some soothing tunes filling the air now though.

Thanks to all who posted relies about the CLR2000. I've got one on the way.

Yeah, I would have liked to have seen a Colts/Vikings (Manning/Favre) matchup, but considering the Saints have never been to the SB, I'm not too upset. I played Madden 10 on my PS3 after the game; I'm always the Broncos (it's the Colorado native in me), and I lost on a last second field goal to the Chargers. I took that harder than the Vikings loss, so I turned the system off for the night.

Sorry about your Vikings, though. Let us know how you like the CLR2000...I've always loved mine. As much as I've gotten to play around with a lot of different DT speakers over the past 5 years, there are a couple that have found their way into my home that won't be leaving anytime soon, and the CLR2000 is one of them. The BP30's are another, as are my BP7001sc's. The PM900's are great, so I'll need to find a use for them somewhere. Okay, this could go on for awhile...
