I personally don't consider the 3000 a full range speaker, and I cross it over at 80 Hz, but I find it has more 'clarity and fullness throughout its useful range than non-powered centers. Dialog seems fuller and easier for me to understand. Pans seem to flow more seamlessly with the 3000 than they did when I tried a non-powered center with a center dedicated sub underneath. It could have been the difference in brands and driver size that contributed to this effect, so I am not saying others might find just the opposite results.
It does take some effort to set the sub gain properly, but it can be done easily by ear with a full range noise reference, just like I do with the towers. Verifying with REW never hurts as a final tweak. I am pretty quiet now on the AVS boards, but the basement theater is rockin'!
Happy Easter, everyone!

Maybe someday I'll know that feeling.
I must agree with your POV with the powered centers, but I've never ran a separate sub attached to the center.
Good luck with the turbo upgrade progress.
'The Spot' is certainly a top notch setup.
