Not to be a wet blanket guys but you really should list your equipment on the for sale thread.

Quick question..... What is the best ceiling mount to use for the ProCinema 800's ????!!!! I bought the Omnimount steel 20.C and the screw on the back is too big.
IMHO, the DefTech mounts. They were great for my Gems.
Scratch that, just noticed the word ceiling.
yeah.. the 2 rear 800's need to go in the ceiling. Anyone ??

Hey guys I've got a pair of DefTech BP8 towers for sale and a DefTech C1 as well. PM me if you're interested. Everything is in excellent condition.

And I have a pair of Def Tech Reference Supercubes in great condition for sale -- sorry to have posted here, but this is where Def Tech fans hang out and were unlikely to have noticed these for sale in the sale forum. I am original owner. PM me if interested.

This thread has really gone in the dumper this week.

As a recent DefTech convert, I do not intend on selling and plan on keeping my BP2000s for a long time.

As such, I noticed that spare parts on eBay for 120V BP2000s are few and far between, but there seems to be a good supply of BP2000TL parts.

While mine work perfectly now, if I wanted to get some spares on hand just in case, does anyone know if a BP2000TL amp/sub would work in the BP2000 towers?

my guess is no but you could check with Chet at def tech to be sure
post #23593 of 29360
i wonder if you could use the 240V amp with some type of voltage converter

i also noticed baja is selling bp2000 tweeters for $69 and bp2000tl tweeters for $40

i wonder what the difference is

Good guess - I have had my BP2000 amp in for repair (3 times before it was actually fixed) recently and talked to Chet about the possiblillity. Here is his response "Unfortunately, the amplifier used in the BP2000TL has a very different design. It's designed to drive a 75 ohm woofer instead of a 4 ohm woofer. (In addition, we no longer have replacement amps available for the original BP2000 towers.)".

I purchased the BP2000's used in early Dec. 2010 - the seller had indicated that a problem with the amp exsisted so I sorta new that I was getting an item that would eventually need repair. Just didn't know that it was going to need it immediately , but hey the price was right. I have talked with both Chet and the Def Tech tech, Curt several times and have emailed them many more . Although it took some 6 months to get the amp working properly Chet and Curt were always pleasant, curteous, responsive and willing to do what it takes to get the amp working . I must say that it was well worth the effort as the 2000's and CLR3000 up front is just blowing my mind with both music and movies. I had been very happy with my 2004tl's and clr2500 for 7 years, but this is just a HUGE difference.

During the last 6 months of waiting for my 2000 amp to be repaired I often wondered about this as well...I even emailed baja but he never replied back. I always meant to ask Chet, but never got around to it.

So I finally got my check today from UPS from when they damaged my BP7001sc's that I sold and shipped almost 6 months ago. Glad it's over with but it's sad to know that two fewer DT's are being enjoyed today.

On another note, we watched The Incredibles in the theater last night. The Rythmiks in the rear corners are now fully broken in. Let's just say that two Epik Empires and two Rythmik F15s plus 7 channels of DT awesomeness juiced at 400 watts apiece in a 15' x 17' sealed room = no need for Buttkickers.

Good to hear from you Keith, I was startin to worry. I have become hesitant to ship or have anything shipped to me. Too many horror stories. Sounds like you got some wattage in the cottage and some bass in the place!

Where did all of the 7002's go? I'm searching eBay (bajawaverunner)and Amazon and Audiogon with no luck.

Thanks for the info HTPCat! It is good to know that they will still service the amps out of warranty. I wonder if one replaced the amp and the woofer with the TL versions if that would fly. I'll ask Chet and post back my findings.

Amazing, I agree - I went from BP6Bs which were great but the sound stage wasn't big enough for the large room. With the 2000s (and 6Bs in back) I still can't stop smiling.

You need to remember that the TLs were ported and the older 2000s had a sealed sub - that's the main issue with the amp/woofer.

I have emailed Chet about BP2000 replacement subs. I would like to have a spare on hand also. Here is his reply,

" 2- The 4 ohm, 300 watt, 15" woofer used in the original BP2000 is no longer available. You could, however, purchase a suitable substitute from Parts Express. You can find this woofer at: "

Has anyone used this sub from partsexpress?

Looking to replace some old onkyo speakers for my front and center. I am somewhat stuck between the Promonitor 1000 or Mythos Gem. My room is somewhat strange as the front speakers may be close to ten feet apart and will either be places inside a wall unit low down (possibly turned on side) or hung from ceiling facing downward. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
IMO the pro monitors sounds fuller than the gems, wider dispersion plus, they're cheaper and slightly bigger too. But you have to determine which sounds better for you. You can't go wrong with either one. You could also try using 3 pro center 2000, if you're planning on placing your LCR horizontally..

Couple of pages back (785 to be specific) I mentioned a problem with my 7001SC not outputting LFE from its active sub.

Well ... DT provided me their 'diagnose' cheat sheet, and I found the positive (white) lead not connected to the active sub speaker.

Im awaiting my new AVR (Yam RX-A3000, paired with my Emotiva XPA-5 [200W/ch]) which will let me run test tones later this week.

Hopefully (fingers crossed) the loose lead was the only problem and all will be good in the world - back to sweet sounding music and movies.

Thanks for all the feedback and assistance.

Yah I would think that the only real possiblility to pursue here is the 240V version of the BP2000 amp with a voltage regulator.
