Are you stating you do not have any of the gold jumper plates between any of the three sets of speaker wire posts?

I don't currently own a set of BP2002 but correct me if im wrong - you should have the three sets of speaker posts labeled Hi, Med, and Low as well as "two" RCA connectors one labeled Full Range Low Level/Sub and the other "Optional LFE"??

It's unclear from the above whether we/you are understanding the comments,

You have a few options:

1. Connect via just speaker wire (no "additional" sub/RCA cable)
- Connect your speaker wire to any of the three pairs of speaker posts - Like OTK I use the "mid" pair. You MUST however have the gold jumpers installed between all three negative posts and all three positive posts vertically etc. If they are not "jumpered," you will only be powering either just tweeters, your mids, or the sub depending on which pair of speaker posts you utilize.

2. Connect via Speaker wire "and" RCA cable from your receivers "LFE/SUB OUT."
- Connect your speaker wire to the "mid" pair of speaker posts. You MUST however have the gold jumpers installed between the Hi and Mid posts and you MUST remove the jumpers between the Mid and Low posts.
- Connect your RCA Cable from the receivers LFE/SUB OUT to the "Optional LFE" RCA jack on the BP2002. Your receiver most likely only has one "LFE/SUB OUT" thus you will need a splitter to facilitate both speakers/seperate RCA cables etc.

3. Connect via speaker wire "and" RCA cable from your receivers "LEFT and RIGHT" "FULL RANGE AMP OUT."
- Connect your speaker wire to the "mid" pair of speaker posts. You MUST however have the gold jumpers installed between the Hi and Mid posts and you MUST remove the jumpers between the Mid and Low posts.
- Connect your RCA Cables from the receiver's front speaker mains "FULL RANGE AMP OUT" (you will have a left and right connection) to the "Full Range Low Level/Sub" RCA jack on the BP2002. You will have an RCA cable for each speaker in this configuration to the Receiver left and right main speaker amp outs etc.

May be more than you required but hope it helps ya!
Cheers

I found this picture of the BP2002 rear panel. scottpez, do your speakers look like this? If so, then it doesn't matter whether you connect to high, mid, or low. If the copper/brass connectors between the 3 positive posts and 3 negative posts are gone, then you'll have to run small pieces of speaker wire to each one. As long as the connection between each set of 3 posts is maintained, you'll be fine. Just don't connect red to black!

The LFE plugs are optional.

i always call those little jumpers brass but they probably are copper or gold plated copper

brass isn't a great conductor

Hello
I'm kind of torn between ml esl's and def techs 8060's mainly for movies. My room is relatively small 12 by 16.

I've always liked def techs so any opionions would be greatly appreciated.

My room is small as well and I'm loving the 8080's. I am a bass nut so I have the SuperCube Reference in there as well.

If it's for movies I definitely recommend the 8060's (or gaming or music...)

Awesome... Bass nut here as well. I currently have an hsu vtf15 (my room opens up to a dining room about the same size) and ml motions all around I like the clarity of them but the def techs just seem more open and alive if you can call it that I guess.

So I'm thinking about 8060's F,L,and C. I currently own a pioneer vsx32 however I'm thinking about upgrading to an onkyo 3009. Do you guys think it would be a good match? I really like the fact I can set the crossovers for each speaker.

Thank you guys in advance.

We are now finally in the DEF. TECH. Fanclub w/ our purchase of BP7001SC SuperTowers -- dying to get them hooked up, and then I will post on what we are hearing in our room.

Great! Do yourself a favor and don't spike them untill you experiment with placement. I found a slight toe in to provide an uncanny phantom center image. Mine are 30" off the rear wall, gave me the best balance between good lf and bipolar effect.

Congratulations, DenPureSound!

I loved my BP7000SC & BP7001SC. They were so fun & exciting no matter what kind of music I listened to - be it classical, rock, pop, alternative, or jazz.

I now own the Revel Salon2, KEF 201/2, & Linkwitz Orion.

Even though I no longer have my BP7000SC & BP7001SC, I sure miss them a lot. I regret selling them. I should've just placed them in my formal living room and my family room.

I'm sure you will love the BP7001SC, as you have already fell in love with their sound at the dealer.

Congrats! Wow, you have them already? You must be icing your back right now lol. Did you listen to them in a dedicated home theater room at the dealer? Let us know how they sound! Also curious how they compared to the 8080s? Home Theater mag stated that they are suppose to be the best sounding st's yet...

Yup, dt's are hard to beat. That is quite a collection of speakers you have there though....

Amazing that any dealer still had a pair of these. They have been discontinued for quite some time. I'm building a pair from components.

Where did you get the crossovers from and how much where they?
Josh, Center is not centered in relation to the screen, L/R not equilateral from the screen.

This would drive me nuts bro. Maybe that's just me, but I doubt it.

Thank you guys in advance.

First, how do you like your VTF-15H? I was looking at buying one (or two) until I read the Audioholics review of poor performance below 25Hz. Obviously, every room responds differently, but have you done much tweaking and testing of bass output and frequency response? I love bass that's really low and kicks you in the chest like a mule.

Second, I haven't owned a Pioneer amplifier since the stereo days, but I can tell you that I'm in love with my Yamaha RX-A3000. There is individual EQ for each speaker (although I think it is for each group - center, mains, rears, surrounds, etc.) and plenty of power to feed everything. It pushes my four DT BP7002s (and 5 other speakers) above reference without issue. As a bonus, you can still find them for sale for under $1,000 on occassion (as they've been replaced by the 3010). Makes me sick because of how much I paid.

That is exactly what we were planning, your right on. Need another couple feet/spikes short a couple, but will just put front feet on w/ no spikes.

I know I can get around 16" off wall, will need to see if I can get more distance.

Thanks g_bartman.

Geez, you sure did UPGRADE their, those are VERY Expensive speakers, way more in cost than these SuperTower 7001's -- after reviewing all the specs and chatting w/ you regarding the BP7XXXSC's you made up our mind and that was solidified by the Total Sound Quality when we heard them --

Imagine the Def. Tech. SuperTower kicking a nice Reference KLIPSCH aside for Front Towers. This is one sweet design/engr. feat w/ the dual D'Appolito arrays including the SuperCube SW. Very powerful motors.

Oh BTW the dealer has some 60th Anniversary Heritage CornerHorns -- so I asked how much, as I know they will be Classics and only go up in price, and he said they are $17,500, Up .. Up.. and Away .. Geez, those speakers were gorgeous, but you would need a pretty darn big room for them, and two corners to put them in.

I just got VERY lucky to find them, and the dealer was close to where all the cows graze in a very OLD warehouse. He also had a pair of 7000's but wanted only to sale them as a full system w/ CC/Surrounds included, so that messed up the deal on them. Oh well, not much if any difference that we could tell between the two diff. model 7K's, but certainly in the bass dept. but we have dual subs already so should be fine on the bottom end with the 7001.

That is one fine looking setup there w/ those 8060's -- that picture could go into a Hi-Fi Audio Magazine, Clean looking. We auditioned the 8080's, 8060's, Mythos, and the newer Golden Ears Triton Twos, along with the Big Boys SuperTowers 7XXX Series. We liked the Mythos better than the Golden Ears TT's, then the 7XXX series next and those seemed to just sound the best of all, but yes all were in the $4K bracket or more per Pair for Fronts. So when he had a pair of 7001's that were standing tall on the floor we grabbed those w/ full warranty - hopefully we don't have buyers remorse after months of work looking for something that would kick the Klipsch Reference Towers.

Two possibly dumb questions:

1. Where can I buy new feet and spikes for my BP7002?

2. Would there be anything wrong with using a matching 5th and 6th BP7002 as a front center channel and rear center? The only negative I can think of is the 12" woofer is side-firing...

Point of diminishing returns.

Once you've reach a certain point, in this case the BP7001SC, you will only get a little more refinement in SQ. The majority of the improvements will be the aesthetics, speaker measurements, and bragging rights.

DefTech has great customer service. Just call them or email Chet:

Chet.Pelkowski@definitivetech.com

And using 6 identical BP7002 for 6.1 will be fantastic.

I used a BP7001SC as a center channel at one point, and it was awesome.

It doesn't matter if a speaker is bipolar, dipole, omnipole, or monopole. if they sound great and clear, they will work for any applications.

Yes indeed, they were amazing last time I needed their help. Not sure why I didn't think to contact them about this.

That was my thought as well. Looks like I need to find another pair.

From Definitive quite some time ago. They had only a few left when I bought them. All I'm lacking for the build is the woofers and passive radiators. I've been buying the components a little at a time for the last year.

Wanted to share some info about my 8060-St towers.I have owned them for a few months now and they really sound great.I have a pioneer elite avr vsx-31 and a Sony bluray player. After getting into higher end audio I must say there is a ton to learn about setup and such.I have ran MCACC many times for my speakers and was OK with how things sounded but never really wowed a bunch....a few times I have been but not every time. Now one funny thing is I like to stream Pandora through my bluray player and listen to music in stero but music would come out both towers but sound was more profound on the left tower.I came to find out just yesterday...lol...that under my audio settings on my bluray there is a down mix setting to apply Dolby digital or stero mixing to a source.Well I had it set to Dolby digital nit stero...that's why music sounded really off...OK one problem down...:-)

My next issue was with MCACC...and since my speakers are bipolar MCACC has a hard time setting them up right I come to find out.Last night I reset my avr and didn't run MCACC I just set the distance and set towers to large...I tried all to small with 80hz crossover but lost bass since I don't have sub...just subs in towers. With towers large and the rest small all has been perfect.Leaving my towers flat gave me that wow factor compared to what MCACC did so my recommendation is if you own the 8060's or another bipolar tower run them flat first and see what you think...from my experience using room correction on bipolar towers can give screwy results...cheers:-)

I assume MCACC is auto-calibration? I experienced similar results after running my Yamaha RX-A3000 YPAO setup. Fortunately, while it incorrectly recognizes the bipolar speakers as being "out of phase", it still calibrates the correct angles, distances, and EQs. Ultimately, I select "through" and bypass the EQ for the DTs as recommended by the manual. At the expense of sometimes sounding too bright with some material, they sound richer and fuller with everything else. I can control the brightness to some extent with different materials and furniture.
