Are you saying you have no center speaker or subwoofer?

Why are you downgrading the audio to 2 channel and then re-processing it to pro logic?

I have 3 Center channels C/L/R config and 2 subwoofers.


I am mixing the DD signal to PCM 48KHZ signal and feeding it to my HK AVR-2600 and applying Logic7 Movie processing. Not Dolby Prologic, But Lexicon Logic7.

How do you guys think the new SM series would work as surround rears and height channels compared to the older SM-350's or SM-450's? My setup consist of BP-30's mains, and a C/L/R-2000 center, as well as a pair of BP1.2x side surrounds. I am looking to playground with heights and also want to try using some rear surrounds as I only have side surrounds right now,

Which of the new SM series would you guys recommend for playing around with heights and rears?

for heights and rear surrounds I would go with the 45's....im in the process of adding these 2 and for the cost and how much sound goes to heights and surrounds the 45's would fit the bill perfectly I think...

Heres my problem/question :
I have a dedicated room that I watch tv in with an occasional blu ray here and there. The speakers are powered by a Pioneer VSX 1014TX, so I have plenty of power. Currently I have the Polk RM10 5.1 set up which has been ok for what it is.

A few weeks ago the sub died, which was no great loss anyway. I've bought a new sub, BIC F12, and was thinking of upgrading the rest of the speakers too. Originally I wanted to keep it around $500.00 and was looking at Polks. But a trip to BB yesterday changed that. I ran into the Def Tecks

Here's what I'm thinking :

ProMonitor 800 for the 4 speakers, and the ProCenter 1000 for the center. The sub is the for mentioned BIC F12 This set up will be roughly $800.00. Please keep in mind, that this set up will roughly be for 95 % tv and 5% blu ray. I already have a dedicated home theater for the sound quality and blu rays

I don't want to spend a lot of money for the TV room. The $800.00 is slightly above my limit, but I think worth it.
So, what do you folks think of this new set up ? Anybody have this set up ? the 800's combined with the 1000 ?

Loving the setup there James see you've added a few things since we last chatted. Maybe one day I'll get around to posting pics of mine. When did you get the cylinder subs? How much difference does front heights presence add to movie experience?

On a separate note, anyone seeing the Avengers this weekend? Might go to matinee with a couple buddies of mine. It'll be my first time going to cinema in a couple yrs. I don't care for the experience much which is one of the reasons I enjoy home theater gear.

Speaker too bright? Like a laid back speaker?

I set my treble to -10 and my typically bright def tech are now laid back, and yet very clear.

Wow. Now i can listen however my mood feels like!

Very nice James! How do you like the XPA5 with the Onkyo 1007? I have that receiver as well and often wonder if I would hear much of a difference with either the XPA5 or XPA3.

Comb filtering? What are you talking about? I have no issues like that.

I have had the cylinder subs for little more than a year now along with the PB12-NSD that is now up for sale. As far as the front heights its nice not that much difference but havent had them up very long to really play around with them yet

3000's all around are unbelievable I put in immortals yesterday just to see the difference and WOW My front 3000's have the subs facing out but 3000's surrounds the subs facing in on each side of me I heard things I didnt with the BPVX's I actually didnt know what I was hearing until the wife told me it was the blood splattering heard that way behind me...awesome movie for surround

Here is a vid I just uploaded of my 8060-center playing music....my towers are active also but are only playing ambient sounds....90 percent of what you are hearing is from the center......enjoy!

I do love the xpa 5 it sure gives my 3000's more power than the receiver. I have all 4 3000's in my xpa5 its so it should be pushing 250 watts to each tower. My CLR300 and rear surrounds plus front heights are going to the receiver so now im thinking maybe another xpa5 or maybe just an xpa3 and keep my front heights to the receiver. Thinking thats too much ? Anyone

The Buttkicker rocks! I had originally bought it when I was in an apartment so I could feel the bass without the neighbors feeling it too. I have it under a peg of my bed (yes, this system is in my BR where I do most of my HT watching; my roommate actually insists on a HTIB in the LR lol). It really helped make up for where my Mirage Prestige S8 was lacking. Though I must say my new SC6000 can kick butt, too! I'd say it's definitely a worthy investment, particularly for nighttime viewing.

On a side note, I really have to recommend the subdudes as well for any sub, but particularly for nighttime or apartment listening. You get deep, clean bass that hits you before shaking and rattling the house.
