Greetings fellow Def-heads. I have a CLR 2002 as the center to go along w/my (awesome) BP-2000 fronts and BP-6b rears and everything sounds great. Locally I see a deal on a 1000b, and can't help but wonder the difference between the 5.25" vs 6.5" drivers between the two centers, so that the front stage is the same size all the way around. Has anyone been able to compare the two centers?

At what price? It's going to sound just like a CLR2000. So given the fact that most like the 2000 over the 2002 could answer your question. If the 1000b is going for around $100 I would grab it.

Cheer

That's the largest "sound bar" I have ever seen. :-). I know what my 7000SCs weigh thus your entertainment center must be pretty stout. You must have had fun tossing that beast up there. Would love to hear it.

Cheers

FWIIW I have been a happy Def Tech owner since the mid 90's. I found when I upgraded my center from the C/L/R 2300 to he C/L/R 3000 to match the drivers in my front BP10B's, my front sound stage became more coherent. I know it is a huge step up in center speakers and there should be a difference, but I feel as have others, that part of the difference is the continuity of the drivers. I know this not scientific, as of now I have no data to correlate my findings (I plan on running REW Room EQ shortly), and that my brain may be telling me what I want to hear, . . . That said, I feel the center channel is very important in multi-channel systems and for me matching drivers has made sense. So, if it is reasonable $ wise, I would go for it. Just my $0.02.

About to be running three bp8b up front so im pretty excited. I have bpx for side surrounds and im debating whether to use one of my sm450 as a back surround or use bp1.2 as front height? The thing is my couch is only a foot and a half away from back wall so im not sure what to do hopefully i can add some pics to show my room but for now off to buy an av rack!

Does Mythos 3 Center Channel Speaker match good with 7006? Please let me know ASAP. Mythos 3 is the only affordable center channel I can find so far?. Is there any other center channel from old models that matches for a fair price?!

I had a 2002 and now the CLR1000b and there is no comparison IMO. Definitely grab it, you won't be disappointed.

Ok, tv craigslist tv stand installed...8060 towers, 8040 center, hsu vtf-15h sub, 8040 rear surrounds. Pro Monitor 1000's as front heights soon.

Ok upgraded to the 8040hd today it was a major improvement over the pro center 1000 was thinking of moving the pro center to a surround back for a 6.1 setup seeing as my room is too small for me to do the full 7.1 system I originally had any input will this be a noticeable improvement?

That's my next ugrade, though it's tough to justify as my wife likes the sound we have now with the 8040st's and the 1000 center. But I feel the 1000 is lacking a little. Then there is the issue of having to plug it in somewhere, when i built everything in there was no provision for a power cable for the center speaker.

Is it that much of a difference that i should convince the wifey and make mods to hide the cord?

Pretty cool. . .

What changes are you noticing vs. the c/l/r 3000?

Much bigger sound stage up front almost too much when volume up when watching movies. Still playing with it a bit just did this a couple days ago im curious if wanting to go LFE in just for the center. All others are just hooked up via speaker cabels.
Thoughts anyone ?

If you go with the 8040 you don't have to plug it in but I have a friend with 8040 st mains and the 8040 center and they sound great together
post #28044 of 29303
As for the difference it's huge there was so much sound that I didn't realize I was missing

If you go to an LFE in your center will basically become your sub and you will lose a lot of range in your vocals. IMHO I like to be able to hear the bass in the voices when I crank the volume if you go to an LFE on your center you will lose that and pretty much everything below the 80hz range
post #28046 of 29303
I would play with tuning the bass on the back of it until you find that blend you like.

The 8040 center doesn't plug in. no active woofer, only passive radiator. The 8060 and 8080 centers plug in.

Sorry about my std typo, my macbook likes to auto correct...anyway I heard the sts towers where I bought my speakers from. They sounded really good. I was suprised how big they were, tall and fat. I had envisioned them as smaller I guess.
^I noticed they have the same enclosure design as my Pro Monitor 1000/s
post #28050 of 29303
Has anyone heard the UIW RSS III and DI 5.5BPS in ceiling? I'm debating on which one to put for my 4 surrounds. They are $50 different from each other, yet very different designs. The UIW RSS III has smaller mid/woofer drivers and doesn't reach as deep. The UIW RSS III is their reference line and I would assume better, but is it really? It just seems like it is a big pita to mount.
