Yes.. Someone took pictures of the M10 on a table, a few post back....

I want one so bad, the Mythos 8 is definitely the weak link in my system.
While UMR was over my place he ran some pink noise, and showing the data on a true RTA chart. He advice me to set the cross over at 120hz It sounded very sad compare to the Gem XL the Gems are much more smaller..

I'm planning on purchasing two Mythos ONE towers and thinking about which Center speaker would match the ones the best. Mythos Three or Mythos Seven.

I heard that there is also Mythos Ten coming out in October but at $900 seems like a steep price.

Eventually I will probably pick up surround speakers as well. Should I go with Mythos Gem XLs to match the Mythos ONEs or go with Mythos Fives stands as Surrounds.

The 4 surrounds will go 2 feet behind the couch.

That thing ran hot enough to fry eggs on top of (not kidding!) But that was way back in the day when ADCOM actually meant something. The memories !!! . . . what's become of me now?

My current/near future system (which I'm still working on; lots o' other committments are slowing me down, but it should all be in place before Christmas):
Onkyo TX-SR905 AVR (these are next to impossible to find now and never below MSRP, unless one is willing to wait, which I'm not; so even though I hate to pay MSRP, this 'll prolly go down in the next day or so)
Sony KDS-60A3000 60" SXRD rear projection TV (on order, awaiting delivery)
Mythos ST fronts (those will be 2nd to last to get; can't wait!!!)
Mythos Ten center (prolly last item I'll get when it becomes available; will replace my current Mythos Three)
Mythos One rear surrounds (are my current fronts, but will be relegated to the back once I get the STs. They will be run as large in line with a DefTech ProSub)
Mythos Four side surrounds (in place)
SVS PB13-Ultra sub (on order; for LFE & front/center/side low end enhancement)

Only reason I post the above proposed set-up, is to ask if any of you Def-Tech pros/aficionados posting on this thread have any suggestions for improvement, before my choices become irrevocable. Appreciate any and all opinions. I'm addicted to this stuff like a lot of us here, but do not have as deep pockets as others (eg. Djoel, Dream Catcher, otk, etc; only props & more power to ya, bretheren) seem to. Anywho's . . . I hope the above setup will satisfy my addiction for at least the next 6 months to 1+ year, so I want it to be right. Hey, I appreciate everyone's postings on this and other AVS forums; even though I've been obsessed with this stuff for many years, I'm always learning something new and it's still fun (even if a little geek-zoid) !!!

Your near future/current system sound very impressive indeed, there is nothing I would change. I hear what you're saying about the Onkyo, for that matter any Onkyo/Integra products at the moment is almost impossible to obtain...I have sitting right next to me in a box an Onkyo PR- SC885P pre/pro that is out of commissionThat is going back, for exchange for another one.I hope I don't have to wait months for a new one, that would really SUCK!

I am using Cary CAD- 500-MB, Cary Cinema 5 which sounds so smooth and neutral. I love them, they'll be with me for some time, what would be really nice is a Cary Cinema 11A and a Cinema 11V to go with my Cary amps..But I have other commitments no deep pockets here...

I had this 5 carousel CD changer from Adcom that was so great sounding back in the day, it's one piece I really wish I had never got rid of....Live and learn....
About Adcom Amp's, They where the first amps I heard in a speaker audition that made me realized that amps have their own signature sound. I was so clueless in my early 20's

Cheers

Always go bigger with center channel, if you have the cash go for the 8...I have an 8 center that I am selling as soon as the 10 c comes out...( Fo Sho)

Yeah I hear you about the Mythos 8 being the weak link.
The Audyssey auto setup system in my receiver (the Denon 5805MKII) sets my Mythos 8 crossover at 120hz but sets the Gem XLs surrounds crossover at 80hz. That may have as much to do with location as lack of bass from the Mythos 8 compared to the Mythos Gem XLs.
I'm hoping the Mythos 10 can be a center speaker that does the Mythos STs justice, but looking at the dimensions of the 10 it appears to be longer, about 6 inches longer, but the remaining dimensions (height & depth) are the same.
Hopefully this will work out but I was hoping for something more substantial.
I guess we'll find out next month.......

I just measured my Center Channel Drawer in my BDI cabinet and its 35". Same width as the upcoming Mythos 10s. Are the measurements on Mythos speakers exact or slightly off?

Should be exact...

I had posted this in the in-wall forum, meant to post here as I am curious if anyone has compared the RLS II and RLS III's. I have not heard the II's, so curious as to any significant difference in sound and the III's (maybe just on the low end, but with a sub, would this matter)?

"You don't see much on here re. the RLS in-walls. I needed to go inwall, but nothing too large due to wife demands. Was torn between the RLS II, and RLS III, and went with the III's for left / right. Due to stud (and wife demands), had to go with something shorter for the center, so went with the UIW 75. I think the width of the RLS II's (looks wise) may have been better than the III's, but I like the way it turned out. Curious as to if anybody has heard any differences or comments between the II's and the III's - what I have sounds awesome. At first, before listening to the III's, I was ready to exchange for the II's, but I am completely satisfied with the III's right now, plus I can always put the II's in later. To me, an awesome sounding speaker - have you listened to these yet? There were some decent reviews on the RLS II's on def tech's web site.

I am getting ready for a 52" lcd - most likely the xbr4.

Here are some photos of the work in process below. I have a new onkyo 705 receiver. Had to move the speakers wider than the existing ones the builder had put in. Not sure why there is not more on the RLS in-walls on here."

How else could a 7000 or ST be logistically configured as a center speaker except behind an acoustically transparent projection screen?

he asked for a money no object set-up and that's my selection

if money is not an object than getting a projector should not be a problem, you can also use 3 towers across the front with LCD and Plasma but they would have to be up high of course

also, when just listening to music in SACD or DVD-Audio, you can always swap out your regular center and put the tower in for music only

and if you read my whole post, i included systems where a CLR-3000 is used if you absolutely can not use a tower for your center and i've included systems with BPVXs for people who absolutely can not use towers in the rear

as far as living at radio city music hall. it's not really about that. it's about having "true" full range sound at ever channel and having identical, well calibrated full range sound at ever channel for the ultimate in timbre matching. 16 trinitys might be over-kill for some smaller rooms but again but in my opinion, you can never have enough head-room on the LFE channel. i would want 16 of them. some people would be happy with one but we're talking about "money no object" here

if your room is really that tiny, you can go with 7 studio monitor 450s all the way around with a reference supercube
post #3493 of 29325
forgot to add this to my last post about using full range speakers at every channel

and if you can't use a full range tower, a BPVX with a subwoofer is in effect, the same thing as a full range tower

but about full range capability at every channel. dolby digital and DTS 5.1 were designed to utilize full range at EVERY channel. not just the mains and hollywood is mixing it's movies with full range sound at EVERY channel

people seem to be stuck in the old pro logic days of using "small" speakers for the center and surrounds. the reason for that was pro logic only used full range sound in the mains and limited bandwidth in the center and surrounds (the surrounds were actually mono also)

granted, people don't always have the room or money or wife approval or space to do it the right way which is why we have small speakers available and bass management but bass management is a compromise, not a true solution

when you have full range speakers at each channel, you start to notice effects in movies that are totally lost with bass redirection not to mention the loss of perfect timbre matching all the way around the room which by itself is an incredible thing

Just swapped my pm1000's for bp7006's. My first floor speakers since I had polk rt10's like 7 years ago, had to leave those behind in NY.
The 7006's rock! I would recommend them to anyone looking fill a medium to large size room with great sound.

The whole setup:

Sammy 56" LED DLP
fronts: bp7006's
center: pc1000
back: pm800's
sub: mirage omni 8"
avr: rx-v661

avr and center will be upgraded soon.

I posted this on the main forum page, but not sure if that was the right place. I am currently planning on getting the following for my living room (14' x 14'). I would use this set up for TV and Movies mostly

Fronts - Mythos One
Center - Mythos Eight
Surround - Mythos Gems

Question I have is to save some money would I lose a lot if I went to Mythos Four for the fronts and Mythos Three for the center given the size of my room. I will have a sub (yet to be chosen) for this setup.

Hi,
I'm looking at buy a pair of BP7004 or BP7002 towers. Does anyone know if Definitive is going to be coming out with a model anytime soon to replace these? I just don't want to lay down $2000 and then a month later a new model comes out, lol.
THanks!

Wow! You post twice a year do ya

I would go with one's , I use to own Mythos 1's and they where in my bedroom!( with a sub Sunfire Eq. though )
With the 3's in a center, sold that 3 to get a 7 for the bedroom....And now I have an 8 but in a living room ,that's a few feet bigger than yours..Well at least wide..

What I am trying to say is I would always get a bigger center when ,and if fiance allowed it.

It's been working for the ladies for eons ,I say we steel a page from thier play book.

Quick question; I'm running a 3 way splitter from the sub pre out in order to have the 7006's hooked via LFE. Will I get the same amount of bass out of them if I just run them as speakers...perhaps by setting my avr to output bass to sub/front l/r?

I'm also having trouble aligning the bass output of my sub and the built in subs in the towers, the mirage hits deeper and when all 3 hit at the same time it just sounds distorted and boomy.

I just got back from Best Buy Magnolia. I was there to purchase a set of BP7002 towers. They didn't have any in stock and the computer said the item has been deleted from their system. Does this hint towards a new model coming out soon, or does Best Buy just no longer carry them?

First time posting on here. I wanted to get some opinions on equipment. I am looking to upgrade all of my home theater speakers. I don't listen to much as far as music mostly just movies and tv. I have 12 feet across the front in which to put all three front speakers with the center directly above the 50" DLP tv I have. My couch is 10 feet from the TV so I need something that is going to deliver good sound for movies. This is my thinking for a future setup. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance.

I was looking at getting the C\\L\\R 2300 for a center channel and then a pair of Mythos 4 speakers for left and right. In the rear I was going to get the Mythos Gem speakers. All of this will be mated to a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH. I currently have a Definitive Supercube I so that will be staying as well.

For those of you that have Myer-Emco stores in your area, there is another customer appreciation sale going on Wednesday. They usually have a nice selection of DT speakers on sale. This is where I got all my equipment and saved over 50% off MSRP. I have my eyes on a pair of BPVX speakers for surrounds, so we will see how much they want for them in a couple of days!

it can be very difficult to get subwoofers of different "types" to couple with each other

is there a phase knob? i would recommend getting the sub as close to the towers as you can and play around with the phase and listen to music with some good bass in it. it's trial and error as far as placement of the sub and playing with phase

I have them both set at the same level. The Omni has a frequency dial which I might have to turn up a bit....or unplug the LFE on the 7006's and direct all the bass to the sub.

Any suggestion on where the speaker crossover should be set at on my avr?

Hi,
I received an e-mail back from Def Tech and they said the BP7002 will be the current model for another 12-18 months. I guess Best Buy just isn't ordering any more.
