I posted this in its own thread , but thought i would share my basement in this thread as well

the old owners thought they new what they were doing when they finished the basement but it was horrible, dark damn they basement was split down the middle 1 half being the rec room the other half the furnace room laundry room and rough in for bathroom

I ripped down the drop ceiling and the wall dividing the basement

having the ductwork and plumbing all exposed on the storage side of the basment I had to drop the ceiling below the ductwork , so I built drop peice that would allow me to maintain the most head room below the ductwork

I relocated the laundry room into the rough in for the bathroom, we already have 2 and don't see a point to have one in the basement

the corner where the sewage pipe and electrical was I built a small storage room to isolate that ugly corner of the basement

I also defined the room while also allowing me to hide some vents that could not be relocated, and I wanted to hide the bulk heads
this allowed me to put pot lights in as well for a nice touch

Well its time for drywall and lighting

the corner where the furnace was there was enough room behind the furnace to use as a component closet

Installed the Pot lights and primer on the walls
post #212 of 652
removed the carpet and added paint

laid the flooring and finishing touches

I am replacing the 58 dlp with a projector and 100 inch screeen

here is the audio rack behind closed doors, don't mind the messy wires

I leave a window open in the room and being winter time allows to the room to remain cool for the equipment

Waiting for my HD6800 and 92 inch motorized screen

Here's a pano that I finally got to line up correctly...

Anyone have some photos of before and after?

Wow!!! what a beautiful theater/bar. Extremely well done. Wish I had the room, talent and dough to do what you've done. I have some pics of my own but it's so crappy I'm ashamed to show now. LOL. Congrats.

Woops! I better wait until I have the "after" pictures as well as the "before" pictures, before I post!

I guess it's close to the right time for me to finally post some of my pics. I finished my entire basement and the HT was just part of it. Here's the space where the HT is now......

Here's a shot from the bar/kitchen area.... The HT is at the end and the pool table/game area is in the middle.

This is from the back wall of the HT, looking at the future screen wall and the rest of the basement.

This is in the exercise room/kids HT room....

Another one of the pool area....

The kitchen/bar area

After 2 layers of drywall, the riser is in

The stage is underway

THe columns, 703 and bead board are underway

Just about done...

Finished bathroom

Finished pool area..... I just can't afford a pool table.

More to come one of these days.....

I am almost done with my setup. I know that this does not compare to some of the system I have seen on this page, but this was my first build and setup and I am hooked!

This was about all I can do to my house since I don't have a basement or a dedicated room.

Be nice with the comments.

Al,

Nice built-in look! I need to do something like that in my family room.
Very nice, Al! Can you cover up the TV & components area? If you could, that's how I would have a family room as well.. (i.e. I agree w/Bill...)

I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either. I did things myself to put more of the money towards making things nicer, instead of forking out thousands in labor. All that money saved = wood doors, better carpet, HT chairs, etc.... My projector, screen and anamorphic lens only cost me $2,750. A lot of people spend that or more on a much smaller TV.

The two door below the tv are flipper doors and fold in if you want to see the components or leave them closed. I do not have a cover for the tv, it will be exposed like in the picture.

Now that's true AVS spirit - when faced with limited funds and not sure what to put in your pool room, the plasma TV obviously has to take priority over the pool table...

Great looking basement!

Thanks! It's Sherwin Williams Mannered Gold on the walls and Blonde on the ceiling. They're both on the same color card... same family of colors. I like the way it turned out.

Yeah, actually it boiled down to us having a New Year's party and we (I) "had to" have a TV to watch the ball drop. I "couldn't" move a TV from elsewhere in the house so I found a "great deal" and bought the plasma.
