Wow, some really great work here. All of you should be proud and I hope you're enjoying them as often as possible!

The before shots are when I thought I was going to have a dedicated room on the second floor in the back of my home. After construction was almost done I found out that I had to make the den a dual purpose room. The first shot is when the dem was first completed. I took down a closet and wall to combine 2 1st floor bedrooms to make a large den. The second shot is the same room after some sheetrock, spackle and a freshly mudded floor. Then after some tile, and some hardware you get the last shots.

How does your theater sound with the "open" wall on one side? Is the sound lop sided?

Jeff,

Can you tell me what carpet you used in your theater room?

Thanks,
Scott

OK Someone needs to start a: I'm a poor working stiff who had to build a theater room on his own, with a budget low enough to still be able to afford to pay the mortgage, so I can still enjoy the theater thread.

Man, I only wish I could put together some theaters as nice as you guys. Most impressive. Here's my humble contribution.

Bass Addict,

Wow...Nice work!
Thanks Randy, much appreciated. It's nowhere near the likes of the ones here but the end result is the same. To be able to enjoy the best possible picture and sound in the comfort of my own home whenever I want.

BTW, I have that same equipment cabinet you have (got mine at Lowes a couple of years ago). I put medium dolly wheels on it and it's easier to turn to get to the back.

Yep I do I just passed 45,000 pts this week. I work out of town a lot and there isn't much to do so I take my 360 with me and it gets a lot of play time.

Yes. I had them pending a sell but ended up having to replace one speaker. They are great in a less than perfect room like mine because of the lack of any hint of brightness as well as great imaging. They are not the greatest looking boxes but they are pretty low profile.

Good for you. I finally got a chance to hear them (well atleast the front 3) at a local store and they are just amazing! Once I finally am able to build my theater room these are the bad boys I am going to use.

'Hallelujah, Holy $hit!' I'm DONE, I'M done, i'm dONe, done, did someway done? (oh, I still need to put in a shower door, but someone else is going to do that for me, but) I'M DONE!!!!

4 years, 3 kids and 1,000 square-feet later I have finally completed my basement project! I've been watching this thread anxious to make my mark and here I am. I did everything but the drywall finish and the main sewer stack relocation.

I hope my pics aren't too big, but I don't care because I'm done. Hopefully you can tell which ones are the before & after

Looking towards the Theater Room:

Looking towards the bar on the left and Lounge area in the back:

Facing towards where the bathroom is located.

I had a lot better finishes in mind when I started, but the cost & time got in the way. I was going to have plusher carpet, a rock wall instead of an acid-stained concrete wall, better light fixtures, remote lighting control, and a knock-down plaster finish on the walls. Oh, well - I love it the same.

And now the kicker...... I didn't construct the riser for the second row because we are moving. Our home is to go on the market in about a week.

Awesome Neuner! Sorry to see you sell the house! But we all look forward to your next new project.
Looks sweet, Neuner. And excellent choices for a home you won't be keeping. Good luck on selling!

Selling after all that! That sucks. I finished off my small HT room earlier this year and ended up selling it. Worst experience! The contract stated that all of my equipment would be replaced (with an Onkyo HTIB, Infocus 480P, etc.). The guy actually started trying to back out because he wanted a specific projector. My realtor ended up buying it for him to keep the sale from going south. In the end he complained that my theater entrance curtains (which cost me $300) did not stay.
Wow... there are some REALLY great transformations posted here. We're just about done with our theater, so I guess I'll post a couple of before/afters.

Here's the before...

And the afters...

We still have a bit more decorating to do. Plants, ottomans etc. in the theater, but it's pretty close to done. As close as it ever gets, I guess.
