So, IMHO get the 340s if you have a large living room. Get the Sierras if it's a medium to small room and if you spend more time listening to music rather than watching movies. I don't think you'll have any issues concerning power provided you go with a decent receiver.
Thanks for the response. My living room is on the small side. I honestly want the Sierra-1's but I don't know if I can justify the money. I can get a complete 3.1 340se setup with stands for a great price via the holiday promotion or pay about $550 more and get a 3.1 setup with Sierra-1's (non NRT version). I am not an audiophile but I am listening to 2.1 music more each day. The Sierra's obviously look quite bit better to. I would probably buy the TP-24 stands even if I got the Sierra's because of the locking mechanism (I want natural finish which might clash with the stands though).
I have never bought expensive speakers before so this is a big deal for me. The most expensive speakers I owned were the Energy RC-10's that I currently have. I think I would be happy with the 340se setup and in many ways think it might be the better option from a kid friendly perspective. It's not like my kids go smashing into my speakers though either. This is harder than it should be ). I know I am getting a Rythmik FV12 and probably a yamaha receiver to go along with the setup though.
