Note that the tweeter on the is not flush mounted either. If fact, in the above photo, it is clearly raised above the surface of the cabinet, as is seen on my CBM-170SE's. Also, is that a seam I see across the top?
In contrast to the CBM's, however, note that the mounting screws on the tweeter aren't even counter sunk! Can you say edge diffraction? And, clearly, the X-LS has made no attempt to flush-mount the woofer. This should cause further edge diffraction of the tweeter as should the cornered top edge of the cabinet.
Major difference: of course the component quality and resulting sound speak for themselves.
I am a new CBM-170SE owner and also awaiting the arrival of a CMT-340SE center. I agree with the observations made by LeeLee and don't think he should be attacked for stating them. He hasn't overstated anything, IMO. Perhaps his aesthetic expectations were higher than some of us?
Personally, I am happy with the product and accept, and welcome, David's explanations. My only concern, appearance wise, is that the logo doesn't fall off with the passage of time.
