I don't know about the DVI input, but the HDMI input on mine is HDCP compliant. I believe that HDMI is always HDCP compliant for that matter.

i don't really care for picture quality as long as its hd. as my eye vision is mediocre at best. is the hp as durable and reliable as the sharp?
nevermind.
I don't think any of us have enough data to be able to answer this question. Read through this topic and you will see that there are many satisfied hp owners. Considering that the hp has Sharp guts, I'd expect the reliability of the 2 to be comparable. Good luck.

i just ordered the HP LC2600N from buy dot com, against my moms and dads will, as i'm jobless and already have an lcd tv (17").
i was thinking of getting it from buy, but i ordered it from walmart.com. although they wouldnt price match and it was a little more, i dont mind paying the extra $$ for the peace of mind of an easy 90 day return policy to any walmart store. plus, someone reported here earlier that they got one of those from buy and it came in as a used unit or a refurbished unit. they take returns, but its A GIANT hassle.

i'm hoping i get a new one. allthough i don't think the site specifies if its used, refurbished, or new.

one question for whoever used discover card to buy this tv. does discover give you an automatic 1 year warranty extension?
AFAIK discover does extend the mfr's warranty.

well..good old wally world jacked me around, and sent me an email saying that the unit is backordered....idiots...since its backordered there wont be any available anymore so itll never get filled. so i am cancelling the order and buying the 26 inch sony xbr1 instead off ebay....so now ill have even more anxiety. sainchung must have gotten the last one off buy.com because they are now out of stock also.

hey guys. hope everyone is enjoying their set.

can you take the audio out jacks, and run them to some computer speakers?

my old computer speakers has 2 stereo mini line-ins, so one is coming from my computer, and i was thinking i could take the speakers off the tv, and run those outputs to the other input.

Ordered my LC3200N from J&R on Sunday 9-July-2006. They shipped it on Monday. Then on Tuesday they dropped the price $100. I called and they refunded $100 to my debit card...

Box was totally intact when it arrived. No issues. No dead or stuck pixels. Uniform backlight on the blank screen. Everything worked out as hoped.

Great idea! My wife has been bothering me about how ugly the attached speakers are, but for some reason I hadn't thought of using the monitor audio out. I just finished hooking it up and changing the audio output selection to "Variable" so the TV will control the volume, and it works great. Now I can take off the dumbo ears and have a better sounding audio. Thanks for the idea!
haha, well i wanted to make sure it was safe before i did it. i was reading some other thread about the audio out levels being different or something than regular audio levels. but i guess if everything works/sounds fine, then i'll go ahead and do it too.
The other really nice advantage about the removeable speakers are the speaker out jacks to power most any speaker of your choice (if you don't want to bother with an external amp)!

did i do something wrong? i bought an RCA to stereo mini cable, unplugged the speakers, connected the rca ends to the tv, and the stereo end to my powered 3 pieced computer speakers. the tv made a little static sound, and then i didn't get any sound at all. not even after putting the tv's speakers back. i had to turn the tv off and back on again to regain sound from the tv's speakers.

Plugged it in to the "Monitor/Rec Out" audio RCA port next to "INPUT 3" up at the top. That's line out level. Also remember to change the audio setting to "variable". That will allow you to use the TV's volume control to control the external speaker volume and also turns off the built in speaker.

Your experiment could have cost you big time. Apparently the two outputs do NOT share a common ground, and apparently your computer speakers do share a common ground. By hooking the tv outputs to your computer speakers, you effectively short circuited half of the output signal on both R and L channels, and the tv's protection circuitry shut off the signal. That's why you needed to power it down before it would start working again. Same thing would have happened if you had hooked these outputs to R & L inputs on your system audio amp.

This suggests that using the Monitor/Rec Out is your only option if you want to amplify.

You could still swap speakers though. That might still make sense for some setups.

hehe, yeah, i guess i was lucky. thats what i figured would happen. ah well, everything is still ok. i knew i got that warranty for a reason

this sucks. i sent an e-mail asking why my tv didn't ship yet. and they say the manufacturer ran out. what does that mean? since didn't hp stop making the lc2600n?
Did you talk to someone BEFORE you placed the order and ask how many they still have in stock??

if youll notice earlier i posted here that that walmart.com screwed me around for 4 days letting me think they had one in stock, then i get my order status as backordered...and knowing that HP isnt making them anymore, i know they wont get any more so i cancelled my order. jr shows them in stock now (even though i called them last friday and the guy said he never got any) but its too late now as i purchased a 26 inch sony xbr1 from ebay.
but i am glad to hear that if had pulled the trigger on buy.com that id have gotten screwed there too.

I ordered the lc2600n from b -u -y . c: o m on July, 7. It is currently "on order". I have called b -u -y d o t c: o m several times and they keep telling me that they are going to contact the vendor to see what is going on. So if the tv is no longer being manufactured, should I just give up on this order? Keep in mind b -u - y d ot c: o m has told me that they still might be able to fulfill my order.
mjcouvi, you probably wont get it. try jr and see what happens. report back please.
i just requested cancellation.

Ok, this really confuses me. Buy.cm now has the hp lc2640n available at $1,194.99. This tv looks exactly the same as the lc2600n. However its resolution is 1280x768 (rather than the 1366x768 of the lc2600n), it has only a DVI port (no HDMI), and it does NOT have an integrated hd tuner (it's only "hd-ready"). How is it possible that this tv is selling for almost $450 more than the better featured lc2600n?

I would just go to JR and buy the lc2600n, but I was attracted to buy.cm because of their "preferred account" that offers the option to pay over 6 months with no interest (I am a poor college student). I don't seem to qualify for the "Bill Me Later" payment option at JR.
The 2640 is the replacement.
Many reports say the newer Sharps (HP) don't look as nice and are missing features of last years models (cost cutting).
