I'm about to buy 2 C-300s for my fronts and 2 C-50s for the rears and try to find a cc-50 or cc-100 just bought the esw-v10 and I love it! I'm using my panasonic htib speakers until I get the others. What do you guys think I wish I could get high gloss black but that will be kiler expensive the speakers are going into a 11x10 foot room

So I take it that, for you, the minis are preferred over the C-50s even though the minis are smaller?

For mini owners....mini-cc or another RC-Mini for your center channel? I could go either way if I buy the minis.

Is anyone using a Pioneer VSX-919AH-K with RC-10s and RC-Minis? Just curious as to how it sounds. I might buy a pair of RC-10s for the fronts and a pair of rc-minis for the surrounds. Unsure about the center.

I really don't know. I've never heard the Mini's or the C-50s. I've heard most of the RC series from the RC-10 to the RC-70, and the C-100 and C-C100s, so my experience has been with the larger Energy's. I like the C series a lot. They're great sounding speakers. It's just that as you crank them up to much higher volume levels, the C series starts to exhibit some harshness that I've never heard in an RC. At lower volume levels, the C's really shine. The larger C series and RCs have formidable bass, but I don't know how well the C-50s and Mini's hold up in that range.

Do you know where can I find Energy speakers in Montreal? or a Canadian online store?

thanks
Ok, so I'm curious if anyone has heard both the Minis and the C-50s. If you have, what were your impressions?
If you care to go back 50-100 pages you'll find your answer. The RC mini is clearly the better speaker.

If you have doubts you could always order both and send back the loser.

Really? Better than than the C-50? Huh. I wouldn't have thought, the RC-minis being essentially satellites.

How about the newer C-series, like the CB-10 for example?

@ Pack: Also consider that you can get a set of 5 C-50s for about $250, while the RC-minis will run you rather more, I believe. Looks like if your budget allows, the RC-minis would be your best option.

Energy is a Canadian speaker company, shouldn't be that hard to find.

Try futureshop.ca, they carry Energy speakers for sure.

Both speakers have 4.5" woofers and 1" tweeter. The RC mini uses better components, handles more power, and has a better quality cabinet, why would it be difficult for them to be better?

The C-50 retails for $199/pr, the RC mini for $225 each! Look at them both on Energy's website and you can see the RC mini is a better quality speaker.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already tried FS and Best Buy.. no luck.

And yep, they're a Canadian company but their web shop delivers from the US to Canadian addresses..

My Cherry RC-10 paired with an Onkyo Integrated Amp, for my computer setup. Definitely not the best room placement, but that's not within my power to change atm...oh well.

yeah, that does make a bit of difference!
you might want to look at the Energy Act6 speakers in black. Similar performance to the Take Classic. And these are located in Ontario.

Here's a guy selling 3 Paradigm Cinema 110 speakers and 2 Cinema 90's for surrounds for $350 and he lives in Keebek too.

Sorry this is the Energy thread but I thought I'd point out those to you, that website is an excellent resource for Canucks.

It's hard to find the Take Classics, I shouldn't have sold mine so soon...I would have gotten more for them if I held on longer!

Actually, I still have all 5 speaker grills for the Energy Take Classic set because the guy that bought them didn't come back for them. Anybody need them PM me. Just pay shipping and they're yours.

Very interesting, I'll look into the Act6. The room where they'll be is not that big so the size fits very well.

I haven't really looked into Paradigms so can't say much about them, but that webpage is really usefull too, thanks.

Funny that they are easier to find in the US than in Canada; I'd buy them but dealing with duties and UPS and -hopefully not- warranty issues would be a pain.

Thanks guys !

My receiver arrives tomorrow

Any RC-Mini Centre Speaker and Energy Connoisseur Centre speaker owners here have an idea how much of an upgrade either of those would be over an RC-Micro centre?

Would the Mini even be worth the upgrade or will I have to go straight to the CC-10?
@DeusExa: Those are some beautiful speakers.

@AfroGT/Kyuu: For some reason I was thinking the C-50s were bigger than the mini, I must have confused them with the CB-10. Since the CB-10 is bigger, how would it's sound compare to the Mini?

Although I would suppose that once you get that big, you might as well go with the RC-10.

Which ones are you looking for? Futureshop.ca still has some listed but not much RC line in store. I called Energy (now based out of US) and could not give me an answer where to find them out west here. They gave me the canadian distributor but did not get an answer by email then decided I did not want to upgrade speakers after all.

Here is the info

Hey CalgaryCowboy, great tip... I'll contact them. Funny thing the take classics are easier to find (and cheaper) in the US than in Canada, where they are produced.

The Energy RC Micro were at ~ $ 700 CAD, I wonder if it is a good price

OTOH, I saw some RC 30 today... tempting...

For a small room go with the minis, for a lmedium sized room go with the cb-10s.

The take classic set is for sale for $130 with free shipping on new egg.
I've been looking at the Take Classic 5.1 system for a while, but have stayed away because I really don't need a new sub (have a Velodyne 12" right now).

Seeing the deal on newegg for just the 5 speakers is veryyyy tempting.

I had heard some other extreme audiophiles recommend to me not mixing and matching speakers (like a new center with diff surrounds) because it won't sound right. Would matching these 5 speakers with the Velodyne sub be all right?

Yes, it will work well. Mixing subs is common practice. I'd bet the majority of the people on this forum, including myself use different brand subs than their speakers.

There are a countless amount of subwoofer manufacturers that don't even make speakers, but only concentrate on subwoofers.

your sub is probably better than the one that comes witht he take 5.1s anyways.

What is the main differences between the Take Classic and the RC-micro (I know the RC-micros are smaller)? Which are better?
i posted this in the idea in the speaker company thread but I know that owners are biased to their product s I wanted an equal response from you guys...

I have a Logitech z5500 set for TV watching in the bedroom. My complaint about the z5500 is the lack of detail (not that I was expecting much). Here are my choices

Energy Take 5 5.0 set for $130 after coupon code

one of several combos from thespeakercompany.com including this possible setup...

(3) RC1 5.25 MTM speakers $30 each
(1) P5-PR pair 5.25 bookshelf speakers $41.99 pair
total of $131.99

both seem to be outstanding deals and should offer a good upgrade while being able to run on the lower output of the z5500. opinions?

Can someone enlighten me on what stands I can use for RC-10s. Also If a few of you could post pictures of how RC-10s look like in your setup (with stands.)
Thanks.
