All,

It seems to me that New veritas have lower their MSRP in both US and canada

Did anyone order from audiophileliquidator before? I need rosenut so the Veritas center series will be better choice for me over black RC-LCR

The regular price at FS for the centre channel and mini is now less than the RC was originally, so I don't really know what they've achieved by phasing out the RCs. I can only imagine the new Veritas actually cost them less to make.

As for the LCR making a huge difference...in terms of what? The LCR and CC10 are both large center speakers. The only real note worthy thing it will do is timber match with your RC30s.

Sorry newbie here. What do you mean by timbre match? I was wondering if the R lcr would give me better overall sq. The cc 10 was a huge upgrade from the take center I was using with the rc 30s. But something is a little off when I'm watching a movie specially transition dialogue to action sequence scenes. Hard to explain.

I wonder how well the new Veritas center matches with the RC70. Given how rare the RC-LCR is now, especially in Canada, it may be my only option in the future.

It may well match better than the RC-LCR... since it does not have the dual midrange drivers. There is one guy for sure on here who could test it for us! He has recently purchased RC-70s to go along with his new Veritas center and towers.

Before you get too excited about Audiophile Liquidator, put a couple of speakers in your cart and check out their shipping! You might be in for a shock! But, they do claim to carry practically the full line of RC speakers in Cherry and Rosenut, so they might be the only option if a guy really wants one of those finishes...

I do see Cherry RC-LCR showed up few times in last few months but none for Rosenut though!!!! I would bite only if Audiophile Liquidator charge more resonable shipping.

I think the Veritas center will go back up in price. Look at the rosenut finish is still $999. Futureshop does this sometimes and forgets to put the onsale sticker beside it. Also remember the rc series is over 4 years old now, they have to come out with a new series at some point to remain competitive with other new brands if only arguably marginally improved. Still the RC's are a better value for the end of the line discounted prices. Also since klipsch bought energy the new veritas are a combined effort of the two companies.

I just received my RC-LCR from this eBay seller. I opted for the expedited 2 day shipping due to better handling by UPS than straight "Ground". The shipping confirmation and tracking info were timely and I did get my speakers in two days without any box mangling.

BUT, and this is a big BUT, upon unpacking I immediately could hear/feel something knocking around inside the speaker! I messaged the seller asking if
a) Would he cover the shipping back to him for refund? or
b) Would he allow me to remove a woofer and look inside? and then we'd discuss further (and I'd still have the option of returning for refund (so long as I do not cause any damage from disassembly).

His reply the next day said I could either get a refund (no mention on if he'd cover shipping, so I don't think so; or I could go ahead and take a look inside first--my choice.

I popped out a woofer and discovered a large 2" diameter inductor coil had broken it's tie-wrap mounting to one of the crossover boards. I'm continuing to communicate with the seller and weight my options. I spoke to Energy Tech Support and he was very helpful and I believe I can fix this myself but not sure if I'm going this route or not. I will keep everyone updated as I continue to work this out with this seller.

BTW: The speaker does play properly, except I do hear buzzing/vibrating during loud passages, due to the loose inductor coil moving around against the side of the speaker.

Just picked up 2x Energy RC-70 for $99 each tower and a Yamaha RXV2065 for $399. I work for an electronics retailer and they were having a moving sale so this is a steal. BTW this is a Canadian price so you would have to be dumb to not get them at this price. This is my first pair of speakers / Receiver.

Are you sure it's the speaker threads and not the macromount screw? In either case it is probably an easy thing to correct by chasing the offending threads with a 3/8-16 "bottom tap" (speaker threads) or a 3/8-16 "die" (macromount screw). Sears or a good hardware store would have these tools. Just go slowly and back out the tool frequently to dislodge any metal flakes so you don't bind/strip the threads. A drop of light weight oil is also a good idea. Also, have you tried screwing a plain old 3/8-16 bolt/screw into the speaker?

You're gonna be messed up now if you ever have to pay real money for speakers in the future.

GOOD PURCHASE! Congrats!

This means tonal match of the speakers...for example if someone was speaking and the sound was coming from front-right part of the screen (so front-right speaker) and walked from right to left while talking, then the sound would pan across your front sounstage, as it passed from speaker to speaker, the tone would change if they were not timbre matched...

I assume to place the coil you may need a solding iron and some solding skill. Is it easier to replace the whole crossover circuit board? It could be just wires swap. Does Energy honor any warranty? Sound like all you have to is ask them to ship you the crossover circuit board.

I wonder if all of these RC-LCRs that keep magically appearing are all damaged stock that was just sitting somewhere and Klipsch decided to liquidate them.?

I wonder if Klipsch is really selling out as mentioned in CES2011

I'm running mine small @ 80 Hz... I've also tried 60 Hz, large etc... I think I liked it the most with small/80

sup fellas,

how would the Energy RC50's compare to the IQ90's?

Both on sale at Vann's and setting up a pair of fronts and a center of either brand would cost about $1000 total. I have a Epik Phoenix so any LFE is taken care of.

I never heard KEF but I like the way Energy's sound. Read that the KEF's are very detailed which I would like. However There are very good reviews on the RC line by Energy.

Currently I have a pair of Polk Monitor 40's and a CS1. My room is 12x12 with an opening to the kitchen and a small hallway. Please shed some light on PROS and CONS for both becuase I feel like upgrading soon!

i am running a pair of rc 50 towers and i had it set up running audessey from my onkyo and it set my rc 50 at 40hz and set to small so the subwoofer can handle all the low lfe and it is set at 80hz it is a 12 inch 300 watt powered sub.

Yes, the ideal route is to replace the crossover board. Energy says they have some left in stock. I'd have to solder the driver wires onto the new board. It would be a bit tricky working in there with a soldering iron, soldering on the bottom side of the board. And all that fiberglass insulation makes it a messy job. I'd want to protect the exterior of the speaker with a plastic bag so I didn't get glass fibers into all the crevices of the external drivers and onto the outside of the cabinet.

Another option would be to coil up that inductor and re-fasten it with a new tie-wrap. The Energy tech said that may be ok. I could try that first and see how it comes out. Still a messy job with having to access the underside of the crossover board and deal with the fiberglass. I can see the circuit board would come loose by removing 4 screws at the corners, though it would still be constrained by the wires to the speaker drivers and difficult to maneuver around I'd guess. If I did this I might want to purchase the new board anyway as a backup in case I screw things up like breaking a wire to that coil.

Still waiting for response from seller regarding my findings. I'd be ok with him rebating me some money so I could go and purchase that replacement crossover. I may not hear until Monday since I believe he operates on "1 - 2 business day response".

I too wonder if these units are "second tier" stock that was blown out by Energy.

I've had both RC10s, and KEF IQ5s, IQ7s, IQ10s, etc. I prefer the KEFs, but that is my preference. I feel they are both good, and I also feel that the KEFs are more detailed. However, the KEFs rely greatly on a good sub, and benefit more by audyssey. The energy is fuller by themselves. The IQ90's are larger than anything I owned so they may be a full speaker. I ended up keeping the KEFs though.

It's jacked-up that you have to deal with this, for sure, but have you heard of complaints from other people who bought LCRs from this batch?
guys there's a sale on Klipsch RW-12d Subwoofer Each $350

How does this compare to the Energy ESW-C10 that I got for $230 shipped in a sale at Electronics-Expo

Is the RW-12d that much better to command a $120 premium?

No I haven't seen any other reports from RC-LCR buyers. As others have said here, this eBayer's feedback has a fair amount of neutral to negative reviews in terms of numbers (though it's only 0.6% of his 304,487 ratings). He is clearly a HUGE volume seller so attention to detail on every item is not feasible I'd guess. I'd think it's in his best interest to deal with me fairly on this issue or he'll get a bad reputation on this forum!

I'm curious how others who've recently ordered RC-LCR's from this person will make out. Please let us know you guys!

Bob
