Crud....you beat me to it!
considering the energy website says one rc-10 weighs 27lbs, i'd say 24.2lbs is the shipping weight...hopefully so, b/c i just ordered an lcr yesterday off of ebay...

Stop already! You are setting up a pair of speakers, not firing a missile...
Each room and environment is completely different with way too many variables for anyone else to tell you exactly how to set up your speakers.... You need to experiment and find what works/sounds best for you. Toe in or not to toe in! That is the question... but there is no right answer, only what works for you.. And many times what works best for sound, does not work best for your room layout and usage. It's all a compromise....

Just a heads up,

Future Shop has the CF-50 5.1 system on sale for 1099 until february, I think it is a good price as it usually sells for 2099 when bought separately.

I thought I was so lucky to get the CF-30 5.1 for 800, but this is an equally good deal IMO.

This can't be right! (see attachment)

I was running Audyssey on my new receiver this evening, and when out came time to play the tones on my right wide (RC-30), something sounded very off - like a buzzing or rattling from the tweeter. So after I checked my connections and the shorting straps, I popped it open and look at what I found - the magnet isn't centered on the tweeter like it should be. Yikes.

I sent off an e-mail to AA to see if they'll skip me a new tweeter. Hopefully there won't be any hassle. In the mean time, I wonder if I can manually re-seat the magnet and get it working again?

I have RC-10s and the RC-LCR. I'd say the RC-10s are around 12lbs each and LCR is about 22lbs.

Well it is a $300 more equally good deal.

Did you contact that service company about your RC-70 tweeters?

Yes I did, the repair company here confirmed they are authorized for repairs under warranty. Now I am not sure if this Energy warranty is honored for demos, there seems to be contradicting info on that (see earlier post), I will probably email Energy and also talk with someone at FS, someone who actually knows something hopefully as until now I have had a lot of trouble (and spent countless hours) trying to get reliable information about this issue.

It is here that I definately found the most helpful comments, thanks again to everyone who contributed.

Well I finally graphed my basement room out and scanned it as a picture to my computer (it was way easier than I thought it would be, btw). So can you guys help me with how my speakers should be layed out?

I guess I could put them pretty much any where, but I think I would really prefer to put the home theater section back where I put my "proposed sofa" in the attached picture.

I put letters on the "width" side of the room and numbers on the "length" side of the room. So you could say, "surround L speaker G-17", or something like that. Each block represents 1ft x 1ft.

Right now I have 1 pair each of rc-70's, rc-10's, cb-5's, and one rc-lcr. I always figured I would just run a 5.1 system to begin with, but I may be interested in upgrading that if my room allows. I really don't know if it does. I plan on trying to get an avr with audyssey if that makes any difference.

Also, I really don't know much about all of this so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone heard the CR-10's?

I have never seen a speaker set up with a tweeter pointing at the ceiling before. I wonder what that does to the sound?

If it is hitting the ceiling wouldn't that possibly bounce back and narrow the sound field?

I'm wondering how much of an upgrade it'll really be-- my room is basically 12x12, and I have an Emotiva Ultra 10" handling the low frequencies. My wife won't stop laughing at me...

Nevermind........I just tried again and found them. When I searched earlier, only the 50's and 30's came up. Strange........or maybe I am just strange

Did you bite?

This is getting silly - discontinued in theory only, apparently! Maybe Audiovox is bringing them back

I think something is strange about all of this prime RC stock showing up at unbelievable prices. Also, it seems more recent purchases from members are having problems with the 70s and LCRs sounding "off". This stock is probably defective in "some" way. I wonder what if anything Klipsch has to say about this prime stock being sold at these prices?

I doubt there's anything to this-- many of us bought RC stuff during the Woot sales, and haven't had any issues. Buy was selling RC-R and RC-mini, and a lot of people bought then as well. Maybe I'm wrong on this...
Liquidation of stock isn't unheard of. If the RCs weren't doing as well as they had hoped it would make sense that they would discontinue them and blow through the stock asap to avoid further holding costs and loss of future sales due to newer technology.

I just bought my RC-30's, and even those were a stretch with the girlfriend if you know what I mean

I wish I had the extra $ sitting around to pick up the 70's and move the 30's to the rears.

"I object! Your honor, this is purely speculation!!!"
Great price on the RC-70s with free shipping too. Buy.com is not on the authorized online dealers list for Energy speakers but if you really want new RC-70s does that matter? Woot wasn't listed either but it didn't stop me from buying the RC LCR. When you add the items to your cart a Squaretrade Warranty is offered so you can always get that if you're worried. Buy.com carries no inventory but brokers deals between buyers and distributors who would typically sell directly to retailers

My guess is with the new Veritas line out you'll keep seeing discounts on all the RC speakers until they're really gone. At some point Klipsch will liquidate these to whoever can sell them quickly which is already happening with sites like Woot. And with Audiovox now becoming the new owner they probably don't want any old inventory either.

Great for us.

Another chance to pick up some 70s and my 50s are weighing me down. I do love my 50s though and my GF tends to think sometimes more than her.

When I began this whole process almost a year ago I thought, wow, I will never be able to buy any of those sweet looking towers. I jumped in when the 10s we running $300/pr and I bought 2 pairs.

Next the 30s and 50s prices tanked and I dove on the 50s since I had already had 10s. Now everything is bargin basement pricing and I regret not having a tad more patience to see the grand scheme. Now with the 70s so low it's hard to unload my 50s for much money since you can spend a bit more and get the "best" 70s. Ahh hindsight....a cruel mistress.
