LOL - no worries - you might have glanced at it briefly and thought it was a "C" series

But truth be told, it's smaller than 2 of my other 3 centers, but it 'sounds' the largest - more depth (spatially), and IMO projects sound off axis better than my other two (Ascend 340 & Polk CS400i). Very nice center channel and not that big. I'm able (as you can see in the pic) to have it away from the T.V. so that helps the sound as well I'm sure.

fairly large, about the size of my receiver but not as deep.

Also, since upgrading to the LCR, I no longer have use for my C-C100 so its going up for sale. If anyone is interested, PM me, it will be on e-bay within a week or two.

Can I team up with you to sell my C-100 as L/R or surrounds?

Sure. Don't know exactly how it will work though, being in 2 different locations and all, LOL.

it was basically a joke but if somebody wants a system out of C-series speakers then he can order yours and mine and then buy some other speakers as fronts or surronds. Just another opportunity that's it.

yeah, I have a pair of (nearly brand new) C-200's and RC-Mini's, up for grabs

I am using a pair of Connoisseur C-3 for my L/R front speakers. I am getting a center channel speaker to match them, but do you think I should consider getting a pair of newer L/R speakers as well. In another world, has speaker technology advanced so much that the C-3 are now considered "not so good"?

I know it was a joke. But would be a good combo if someone wanted to get started.

Westcoast, how much for the minis? I'm considering using them for computer speakers, they're about the right size. Just to revisit the topic, all I would need is a small amplifier to power the speakers and then run an RCA to my sound card? or what do I run to my sound card? Also, I currently have a 2.1 Logitech Z3 comp speakers, would I be able to use the sub from that separately with the minis?
The C-3's are still considered excellent speakers, but the consensus is that the newer RC series are a definite step up.

Check out this review of the RC-10's, and read the sidebox about 2/3 of the way down where they directly compare the C-3 to the RC-10.

Most here will recommend you sell the C-3's and switch to the RC-10's with an RC-LCR center. I see C-3's in good condition going for $200ish on eBay, and the RC-10's can be had for $299+shipping from audioadvisor.com (demos) or $349+shipping new. I believe RC-LCR's are about $500, although you can find them used sometimes for a little less.

To match the C-3's you'd want the C-C1 probably, which you'd have to find on the used market (around $150ish on eBay when they come up). So the cheapest option is to wait and find a C-C1, but if you can afford it most would tell you to sell the C-3's and step up to the RC line.

No doubt speaker technology has improved over the years, but its all in what sounds good to you. I'm sure those C-3 are excellent speakers, they are from the same generation as my C-7 and I love 'm, sound great. The only reason to upgrade is if you are wanting [new] towers.

I wouldn't mind getting $200.00 for my C-3s. Even though I have contacted Energy about what's the current match as a center channel speaker for the C-3, I still wonder about possible mismatch.

Maybe I will make the jump....

I just received my RC-10 for computer duty yesterday. Powered by 50 NAD watts. Lovely! Why not go for the 10s at the price they are at audioadvisor?
The RC-10's from AA, really are a no brainer IMO. I'm still thrilled with them almost a month after my purchase.
hmmm, looks like the $299 demo price on RC-10's is gone now, I'm only seeing the $349 used ones on audioadvisor.

they might come back in a bit as some more returns trickle in, but congrats to those who got them!
The RC-10s, even at $350.00, are very tempting.
The $299 for the demo RC-10s is their usual price. I have seen them come in stock and out of stock a few times over the last two weeks.

I do not have room on my computer desk for anything bigger than the mini's. But how do you send the signal to the sound card, RCA cable, yes? Besides, I'm fairly happy with my comp speakers as is, I am only looking if the price is right. Currently at FS, minis are on sale for $149CAD. But I would like to know how to plug them in.

You'll need a small amp and a 1/8"mini-jack to RCA adapter (Y-splitter).
I believe audioadvisor is getting low on stocks for the RC-10s. 2 weeks ago you could order black and rosenut now only rosenut was available (phew!) when I ordered mine last week.
I just landed a

C-200CH
C-100CH
C-C100CH for $604 including shipping.

Now need to get 100ft wire and a center stand. I think my parents should be happy with these. Room is 20x14 so I those little JVC's weren't cutting it. Hopefully these should sound pretty good.
Sounds like a hell of a deal. Even if your parents are picky about sound quality, I'm sure those speakers will please. Most parents are happy with a cheap HTIB. Well done.
Oh yeah, check racksandstands.com for a center stand. They have a huge selection with good prices.

Well, I decided I'm getting those mini`s at FS today for $149CAD and I'll be sure to pick up that "y" adapter. I'll try to get them in rosenut, it'l add some color to my desk. I'm also going to pull my S8.2 from my HT system and use it with the mini`s for my comp. Should sound good in my 11x9 room.
11x9!!! Yeah that will be a great computer system. I'm going to see about doing that myself. 10 billion times better than the monitor's speakers.
Have any of you fine people heard of ultralink challenger 12 guage bi-wire speaker cable ? I have a buddy with 3 10' lengths of it. I know i can get it for cheap so if it's as good as decent 14 guage wire (monster or rocketfish) i may as well scoop 'em up. Probably gonna be a damn tight fit in me banana plugs tho lol.
It looks to be a decent quality speaker wire, I'm sure every bit as good and probably better than the monster stuff. Hate those guys.
FYI, I made my own wires, not bi-wire though, I am bi-amping, they would be a bit more expensive most likely, and time consuming but not that difficult.. but they do sound really really good. lets see....this is the diy i did this from...

Yeah, that would be a top notch system. That was exactly what I was considering doing for a computer speaker system. You do know that you need an amplifier though right?

You'll probably need something to get the speakers higher toward ear level to get the best sound out of them though.

Well I got the RC-10 for that duty so I don't need to add a subwoofer (plenty bass for a computer system (music only)). A small ICE amplifier should do the trick. And as for something that's getting them up a bit, I stack a couple of CD cases. Very adjustable. You just add or remove some as you like. I worked great for me cuz I just changed my computer monitor an hour ago and I needed to lower the speakers.

Thanks. Buy.com had one for $34.99 I think with free shipping and if you sign up and use google checkout for the 1st time they knock off $10. So that right there is $25 for a 28" center channel stand.

Their JVC speaker is an SP-XSA-450. But I can't find it online. I guess how bad it is lol.
Yes, I really just hang in the background reading.

I have checked through the thread and didn't find anything about this, so...

Has anyone else noticed that the Energy website is listing the Veritas I series as Limited Availability??? (on each model, ie V2.4i)

I was getting ready to replaced my C series and am now wondering if a new Veritas is on the way OR worse????

Cheers!
azmcrae:

A new Veritas is on the way, but no idea when they'll be out. If yoy go to the energy website and go into the forums section and then look under "General Questions & Comments" you'll see a thread in which people who work for Energy are discussing the new line.
