I would love the CC-10 but to tall for where it must go.
Just be aware that the CC-10 is the matching center and that the CF-70s produce ALOT of sound. Hopefully you have Audyssey or MCACC to help balance the two out.

Only one place for center speaker to go and the hieght of it can't be higher then 6.6.Thats the main reason for getting rid of the Infinity fronts there smallest center is 7.2. and right now I'm using an Onkyo center from a all in one box system.
Also is Energy still owed by Klipsch
Just ordered another set of RC-10's because of the sale. I'm excited but it's a little bittersweet because since I'm in an apartment I think the RC-70's are going to be too large. So, I've decided 4 RC-10's plus an RC-LCR is the best thing due to size and budget. $1200 is a hard pill to swallow vs. just another $240 I just spent for another pair of RC-10's.
Since the RC-R's are pretty scarce and/or ridiculously expensive would the CR-10's be ok since Vann's has them at a great price and surrounds aren't as critical as the front soundstage? I'd like to pick them up while they're super cheap to be ready for a 7.1.
Well... looks like Vann's put a stop to the promo code stacking for a few of the products...
RC-10 back to $300
CR-10 back to $175
CF-70 back to $250
CC-10 back to $200
I would bet Vann's lost money on the orders that went in with the codes stacked... They had to be selling below cost on some of those, when you factor in the cost of shipping they incur.
CC-5, CB-10, CB-20, and V-Mini are still heavily discounted, so I'd grab them now if you want them.... might not be long before the promo stacking doesn't work for them too...
Congrats to the folks who got in on the great deals... RC-10's for $240 is crazy...
unbelievable prices at Vann's...I jumped on a pair of CR-10s for $104 and pre-ordered a pair of RC-70s and an RC-LCR and a Denon 3312. These will be my first Energy speakers...can't wait.
1. I have Onkyo Tx-NR5008. I also have 6 energy CF-70s (purchased for two setups, I just do not need the other set up any more). I want to set up a 9.2. Is it too crazy to use all CF-70s for left, right, surround and rear? I also have CC-10 as the center channel.
2. To set the front high, will a pair of CR-10 work? This will complete my 9.2 set up.
3. I also need a good speaker stand for CC-10 to put it on the ground. And two speaker mounts for Cr-10 for front high. ANy recommendations?
Should I just get "speaker wires" for all speakers? I suppose I should get "speaker wires" terminated with male banana plugs at both ends, correct?
Thanks.
I wouldn't say that having six CF-70's in your set up is crazy. Why not make it seven if you have the room? lol.. I wouldn't tell someone that they should go and buy six but since you already have them, absolutely use them all together. I use six RC-70's / RC-50's in my setup.
The CR-10 would be great for your front heights.
You'll have to check for stands because I don't know what height and space you need them for. You said you are putting the CC-10 on the ground? I'm not sure what you mean, but that doesn't sound like a good idea.
I would recommend that you stick with the speaker wires, unless you listen to SACD and buy specialized components. Since you are asking, I am going to guess that you don't, because then you wouldn't be wondering what the surround cables are for. I use basic analog (red and white) cables to hook up my SACD players up with, so even if you did want to use one in the future, you wouldn't have to go out and buy any new specialty cables to be able to.
Convenience in the colour coding is the main benefit, assuming the quality of cables are the same.
If you are sure that the setup and location of all the speakers and gear is going to stay the same, then I would go by price when deciding if the welded banana plugs are the best for you to buy. If it is very expensive to buy permanently attached plugs, I wouldn't. You are always stuck with the lengths that you bought, and also on most of everybody's equipment-you won't hear a difference. Just buy some good banana plugs and some thick gauge wire and easily attach the removable ones yourself. You'll probably save a bunch of money doing it this way, and will have nearly the same / same audible results.
All in all, they do look like they would be nice cables
Wow...the veritas mini center is only $220. Thinking hard about getting this one to go with my RC-10. Hoping it'll match decently well with the RC-10 for music.
As I recommended to you earlier when you were asking about getting the CB-5's for side surrounds, I wouldn't think about doing it. Stick with the same RC line for your 5.x surround system. Enjoy your finished system, instead of regretting trying to incorporate speakers that don't belong. It's a no brainer for a mostly music setup, that won't leave you annoyed and frustrated.

Sweet! You are gonna love your new setup. Congrats.
Why is that a bad thing, if you don't mind me asking?
No one is sure on what we can expect. When Energy was a Canadian owned company, the quality of everything was all around extremely high. Breakthroughs in technology were made and many people admired Energy speakers.
Now we are already seeing shortcuts and skimping on materials, since Klipsch and now Audiovox have bought them. I think this will continue to happen and the "glory days" may be already behind.

I was wondering why people weren't pouncing on the sales. The amexaudio promo code said "20% off normally priced products" so I knew it was a mistake, as having another promo code would make it not normally priced. At least I got the CR-10 pair for basically $100. Congrats to anyone who got the RC-10 for $240. If I had any money to spare I would have gotten another pair of those but I couldn't spare an extra $140.

Let me know how those CR-10's sound alongside the RC-10s. I'm thinking about adding them to the 4 RC-10's I've got now. I wish I would have pulled the trigger on those too when I bought the last 2 of my RC-10's this morning.
If Vanns came to me and said they made a mistake I would have no problem canceling my order. That to me would seem ethical. Of course I would like to be asked first. If it just got cancelled without any one contacting me, I would imagine that would impact my vigor for scoping out their deals. With all these promo codes and manufacturer backed promotions it is too hard to know for sure, as a consumer, whether there is ever legitimate mistakes made.

Thanks Hank for your reply. When I said I'll put CC-10 on the ground, I meant that I am going to put CC-10 at the bottom of my projection screen. I have about 13-15 inch inch from the bottom of my screen to the ground. So I need a very low stand that is about 6-8 inch high (CC-10 is 7.1 inch high). if I want, I guess I can mount CC-10 on the wall so it stays at the top of my screen. I just do not know which way is better. Any idea?
Yup, I will use all 6 CF-70. For now, buying any other surround speakers is just additional money to be spent since I have CF-70s laying around. I will jump on this deal though to buy a pair of CR-10 as Front-High.
As for the speaker wires, thanks, and I will stick to probably 10 AWG with banana plug then. I guess banana plugs work with ALL CF-70, CC-10, CR-10, right? It only adds $13 for a pair of banana plug and I guess the convenience is probably worth it.
Ordered the CC-5 for $100 from Vann's last night. Then I kicked myself when I saw you could stack codes. Then I realized that $100 is still more than a great price and decided I'm still happy with the deal, especially in light of the fact that you can't stack the codes anymore. Congrats if you got those prices! It will be interesting to see if they really do raise prices on the 1st.

I would most likely put the centre channel under the screen (if it isn't an acoustically transparent screen) and angle it upwards.
I use 12 gauge myself, but as long as you are getting the plugs welded 10 gauge will be great, but it will be a little harder to hide the wires. Many speaker stands will not accept 10 gauge wire, so make sure you check first before buying any. And yes, all of the Energy speakers that you listed will accept banana plugs.

it's fine to use a low center channel stand below the screen but make sure you can angle it upwards so it's pointed towards ear height.

Since you have a DSX enabled receiver, if the room allows, I would strongly suggest using your six towers as fronts / wides / surrounds, and scrapping the back surrounds.
CR-10's will work OK for heights, and note that they don't need additional wall-mounts...

10 AWG is WAAAAY overkill, 14 gauge is plenty for nearly any setup. All the C series speakers can accept banana plugs, although they aren't necessary by any stretch, just a convenience thing. They are really nice though for the back of the receiver, since binding posts are packed in pretty tight.
For speakers you need SPEAKER WIRE. The other types of cables are just RCA interconnects for connecting components.
