I really find that system to be such an amazing value, especially when it is used for surround duty to compliment some bigger front main speakers.

well I used to have the whole 5.1 energy c-500 setup the woofers on this speakers are paper base with the gray textured fiberglass adhered to the front side. The speaker basket is a very thin stamped frame.the dustcap is a plastic sharp parabolic shape and painted silver is not a real phase plug,The tweeter are not real Aluminum dome is just plastic painted in silver.Shelf brace only 3/8" thick,The side enclosure walls are only 5/8" thick and very resonant,When playing music you can really feel the walls vibrate. The only great thing on this speakers is the crossover.

Yea, that is my SUB between the couches. I need to have it near field so I can keep the volume a little lower and my neighbors a little more happier.

Just ordered the CB-10's for my surrounds from Vanns. They gave them to me for $120.

Wow great price! I was going to pick up the cb-5s to replace my take classic surrounds for $85, but for that price the cb-10s are a much better deal. Did you call in to get that price?

I kind of had extenuating circumstances. I was shipped a CF-70 with some slight cabinet damage in the rear. I sent them pictures and they asked me what I wanted. I said "How about my surround speakers for cost plus shipping". They said OK and notated my account.

Seriously? Awesome! How did you get that price? Did you mention anything or did they just offer it to you that way? And I understand about the sub placement now that you mention it.

Seriously. Someone with a budget that can afford say a CC-10 and 2 CF-70s during a sale would get a great value in buying this setup and using the 4 satellites to make it a 7.1 setup and then they'd have a decent subwoofer too.
I really don't think I'm going to get a straight answer for my list question, so any more time isn't needed as far as I'm concerned. I can very happily guess why some speakers are on there, and that's more than good for me.

I used the Takes with the C-500's for a 7.1 setup and they were awesome value surrounds, plus the sub was a nice bonus.

looks good. I think you may have to experiment with the sub placement. Right back or front corner might sound good.

Cool. I have experimented with the sub placement and I really can't hear any drastic differences. I have tried it up front in the right corner. In the rear left corner and between the couches where it's at now. Where it is sitting now gives me more tactile feedback through the couch and it allows me to keep the volume a little lower so I don't piss off the neighbors.

So you think even though the surrounds aren't directly to the sides, it will still sound OK?

No your placement is totally fine. It's basically right where you need them.

Remember those pictures I posted a while back of my CF-70. It had that little ding on the back of it. I sent them to Vanns and they asked me if I wanted a new one or if I wanted to me reimbursed some money. I asked them if they could give me my surround speakers at cost plus shipping and they said okay. So when I called today and talked with the guy Josh who I have been dealing with, he told me the CB-10's would be $120.

Wow I am having one of those nights!! Was messing around with toe in and cross overs and hit that sweet spot. Been at it for 2 hours so far and am ear to ear grin mode. In a day or two I will probally get used to this sound and start tinkering again trying to get that next little bit of perfection.

That ever happen to you guys?

First time with the new 6.3s I have hit that sweet spot. If only the left speakers port wasn't pointing straight into a corner and get exagerated freqencies on that side I would leave it as is.

Happened to me after I hooked up my RC-50s and ran MCACC. Then after again after setting the sub crossover on my Outlaw to the appropriate setting and then yet again after watching How To Train Your Dragon with the sound cranked up after all those settings were mastered

Absolutely! It is an amazing feeling when the chills get sent through your body because all your gear is just right, including the perfect / near perfect speaker placement. Words can't explain when the emotions come pouring in. Congrats and Enjoy

Now comes the Wine. Sometimes it is nice to be a single man living alone in a detached house.

The cops have been to my detached house but besides that I'm pretty much free to rock out whenever as well. Cheers

Hey, I'm not sure if you have already stated it but what do you have your 6.3's connected to?

I decided to go with these http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...998/sanus-hf1b

I have been looking at them all day. Seems like they got a lot of good reviews on Vanns and Amazon. I just kept thinking, if I went with a fully adjustable stand, I could get the surround speakers placed perfectly along with playing around with the sound to see what I like.

Will the new CB series speakers match my old C-100s well? I need a center and surrounds now and the c-50 and c-c50 are long gone.

I have CB-5's surrounds, the CB-10 is significantly larger, the CB-10's will be WAY to big/top heavy for that stand.

Holy crap, I agree. That stand would be for like a Take Classic 3-1/2 lb speaker. You're going to want a stand made of steel or one you can fill with sand, etc.

Edit: One thing to keep in mind is the spec that says the stand can support up to 10 pounds might actually be when the stand is at its lowest point (36 inches), and probably gets considerably lower as you raise the height. Like I said before I'd get a solid stand or one you can reinforce. You want something that won't fall over if accidentally bumped or if, God forbid a fan blows across it or something

I see them on Ebay all the time... there are a few cc-50s on there right now...

the newer CB/CF speakers are "brighter" than the C-100's, but should match well enough. The more forward treble will probably actually be a good thing for the center channel to help with dialogue intelligibility.

that said, as deano pointed out they do crop on ebay pretty frequently.
