Where are you located? There is a set of c-50's and a c-c50 on boston craigslist right now. I believe they were actually mine that I sold to him, and he re-listed them. He is selling them for $50 more than I sold them for.

Why aren't you wall mounting your surround speakers up higher, like say at 6 feet? Surrounds for movies and home theater work better up higher for a more diffusive, enveloping sound. If you are more interested in music in surround, then speakers mounted at ear height on stands would be the way to go....

That's right. The emotiva is an XPA-3. For music I either play using the Denons net/usb function to connect to a media server or from the attached pc running Jriver media Center 15 and using WASPI output for the best quality.

I'm looking for some advice on my best options for surround speakers. I currently have a 3.1 system, with RC-50's (may upgrade soon to the 70's) and RC-LCR up front. I'm looking to make it a 5.1, adding a right and left surround IF I can figure out a way to fish the speaker wires without completely tearing up the walls (it's an old house, so this gets complicated). The speakers will have to be wall mounted, either directly or to a low profile wall mount.

I was keeping my eye out for RC-R's at a reasonable price, but that market has been dry for awhile. The VS Surrounds are nice, but that seems like a lot of money for surrounds. So, other than those, what do you think would be my best options?

Thanks.

I have RC-50s and an RC-LCR up front (so our setups are similar). I'm currently using CR-10s as surrounds and I'm thoroughly enjoying them. They don't clash with the RC sound like I was expecting, and they're easy to mount (they're only 5 lbs. each). A bonus is that they're bipole/dipole.

Actually I have read reviews stating these stands holding larger speakers than the CB-10's. Also, the reviews have stated the stands are much thicker than the pictures make them appear and that smaller satellite speakers look out of place on them. The stands come with about 5 choices for mounting option including a flat plate that measures 10x10. If they don't work, ill send them back but from the reviews I've read, they should work fine.

Because it would be a pain in the ass to wall fish my finished basement. Also, there is a bulk head to the left hand side of my seated position and it would put the left surround speaker a couple feet closer than the right surround speaker.

Just took a quick picture this morning, didn't clean up as you can see the clutter heh. My bedroom setup. I normally have the center angled down, but not at the moment.

Thanks. I'll definitely look into those.

If I decide to wall mount my CB-10's for surrounds, does it matter that one side will be a couple feet closer to the main seated position? Also, can anyone recommend a mount for the CB-10's?

It won't matter if your system has Auddyssey or MCACC. It will automatically lower the output of the closer speaker to match what you hear from the further speaker.

I'm on my iphone so i cant give u specific links but for speaker stands go to vanns and search for "sanus nf 36" i have these and they work great for cb 20's. They are $70. The top plate isnt huge so i bought some pic hanging strips. Go to homedepot and search for "command large picture hanging". I bought the black ones. I can pick up the speaker and the stand lifts up with it. Thats how secure the speaker is to the stand. Works and looks great.

I'm assuming YPAO will do the same thing? Also, take a look at these wall mounts and let me know which one you would go with.

So, I "Like" Energy on Facebook, and they just announced their "NEW" speakers... The Jamo 426 towers (now renamed the Energy EF-500) are selling for $400/pair..... When the full Jamo 426 5.0 set sells for $267 at Buy.com or even $400 at Amazon (but keep in mind Energy is selling the towers ONLY for $400.)

How low will Energy get?...........

They're either stupid, or they think their consumers are stupid. Either of the possibilities are insulting to me.

guys, you don't need an auto setup routine, all you need is a TAPE MEASURE. There is a reason that receivers have adjustable parameters for distance/delay and levels.

yes, an auto setup routine will do it for you, but it's not like MCACC can handle this but YPAO can't. Any monkey with an SPL meter and a tape measure can compensate for different speaker distances.

one of my surrounds is 4ft further away then the other, it's fine. I would assume that 90%+ of setups are not symmetrical in some way, yet somehow we all still live

You can get a pair of these for less than $40 shipped from Vanns and you would have the option to mount either to the ceiling or wall...

I went with the DD recommendations for surrounds, but had no choice for the rears (ceiling) as seen here:

are those Take LCR speakers?

So I posted a review on the "new" Energy EF-500 towers ON Energy's site. It basically said these were the rebranded Jamo 426 towers and that they could be purchased for $269 in a 5.1 setup vs. Energy's suggested price of $400 for the towers alone.

My gut tells me Energy won't let it slide past their filter

If I end up wall mounting my CB-10 surrounds, do I want them tilted down and pointed directly at my seated listening position?
What brackets will work to mount the RC Mini CC? I know the RC Mini bracket works, anything else?

Yeah dude. Got them from WWstereo's ebay store (or whatever). "Made an offer" of $300 for 4 of them, NIB, plus shipping. To hang them, I used a combination of monoprice's omnimount kit, and the hardware that came with the speaker. It worked really well once I figured out the right combo Here are some shots without grills:

I just recently sold my CF-70s/CC-10/CB-5 to a local AVS member and now I'm in the market for some new speakers. If I stick with the Energy brand, I'll go with the RC line, will be getting a RC-LCR for a center channel and already have a pair of RC-10s that I could use as surrounds.

I'm interested in what your thoughts are on the front L/R. I did some searching and found a number of people considering going with a RC-LCR setup for the front three speakers. However, I don't really see any impressions/comments from people who actually pulled the trigger and went with that setup. I'm leaning toward going with 3 RC-LCRs up front, but before I do, I wanted to get your thoughts on the RC-LCR as opposed to the RC-50, RC-30 or RC-10.

I'm pretty confident that most would say the RC-70 is the best for a front L/R, but those will be quite pricy when they become available. Speaking of availability, RC-50s are hard to come by right now for a reasonable price, which makes 3 RC-LCRs that much more attractive.

If you were in this situation, what would you do?
