I'm confident that if you have the invoice/receipt you will be fine in terms of warranty.

there is no way that the mini's can handle 60hz and frankly even 80hz is too low. You can probably "get away" with 80hz when using them as heights or surrounds because you aren't likely to notice the hole in freq response but don't kid yourself, the mini's have tiny cabinets and woofers and roll off well above 100hz.

Ok, ok, I'm not expecting any miracles. I'm fine with there being a hole there. My main concern was if the receiver auto-picks a crossover above 80 and I cross them at 80 anyway, then Audyssey filters won't be applied to anything below the auto-chosen crossover, but if the speakers cannot reproduce within that range anyway then I suppose it doesn't matter.

In any event, I will likely use RC10s if I decide to have heights.

Also, I defer to batpig's judgement on Energy honoring the warranty. He know what he's talking about.

So, batpig, what do you think? As you know, I've now made the full journey from dumpster speakers all the way to three RC-70s as my front soundstage...

Gosh, I love those 70s so much!!!

Oh yeah, I'm sure they have some more soundbars planned... maybe a HTIB or something. Perhaps some existing low end product will be rebranded as "Energy". Who knows what wonders could await us. I better box up my RCs for eBay right now in preparation.

I don't have a factual basis for this but if you have the receipt what are they going to say? Do you think they will check ID and make sure the name matches? Does that mean that you can't buy Energy speakers as a gift for someone else?

I'm so proud! . How far you have come! Are you still in that same apt? Are the surr backs going to go in the bathroom?

Hey Jeff how do you like the 2.4 on your tube system? By any chance did
you hook up the 6.2 on your tube system just to see what they sounded like? I am running rc-70's on my old pioneer sa9500II amp and they sound really good.

I'm still in the same apartment in Carrboro now, but I'm moving in July to a rented house in Chapel Hill. Once I get everything set up in the new house, I will post pictures of the new setup. And no, no surround speakers in the bathroom and whatnot, LOL. I've also come pretty far in terms of my understanding of all this stuff.

Oh awesome!

I had a feeling you were on vacation or something, having not chimed in much the past several pages. I guess you've been having fun In Real Life, but the heat today drove you inside to the computer, right?

If you can believe it, I've lived here 5 years now and still haven't seen the Outer Banks.

Have a great trip! And thanks for all the wisdom you've imparted on me over the years!

After hearing all of this talk of discontinued Energy line I am glad I picke up 4 rc-70's a month or so ago. Was actually originally not going to keep 1 pair of the 70's glad I kept them. Would get something from the Veritas line but at almost 2 times as much as fthe rc line bookshelf or towers I think I made the right choice going with the rc line. Great speakers for the price by all means. Work really good for home theatre and really awsome for 2 channel music.

The Vann's Memorial Day weekend finally made me jump off the fence. I'm glad I did. I ordered 2 RC-70's and the RC-LCR from Vann's and a Yamaha 1010 from EE. I've wanted a really good set of speakers and receiver since I was a teenager and now that I'm a retired old fart I finally got them.

The Vann's order got here about 11:30 today. I'm expecting the EE order to be here around the same time tomorrow.

Anyhow, I couldn't wait to connect the speakers up to the Yammie so I went ahead and connected them to my cheap HTIB box. My god, they sound fantastic playing the Comcast Classical channel, even at the low volumes I have them playing at. I can't wait to see how they sound with some decent, clean power going to them after break in.

I was going to get a pair of Def Tech BP8060's but SHMBO told me I couldn't spend that much money on speakers. Listening to these I'm so glad I didn't get the Def Techs.

Now I have to figure out a way to get a couple of RC-10's and a sub past her . I should have gone ahead and gotten both last weekend.

Thank you AVSforum members for being so enthusiastic about the RC-70's and LCR. I was really worried about buying speakers unheard. Your positive comments took most of that worry away.

I just posted a thread asking about these subs in the subwoofer forum, and thought some of you might be able to comment.

Seems like such a good deal at amazon today. If you have any info, please see the post over there:

I had the Stf-1, it's a really nice sub for a small room. But at the price of the omni, just get 2 and call it a day. Or wait for the energy 10.3 to go on sale again and grab 2.

Thanks! I just ordered one. :-) Sorry, 2 was just not in the cards, both in price and placement. And though the 10.3 is is much better for HT, the deep deep bass is just not a priority in this room.

I have had serious upgradeitis over the last year and a half, but when I got to the RC line I have no intentions of buying anymore speakers for a long time. Well, except for another pair of RC-10s for my heights!
My experience with the RCs was when I first got them they sounded great out of the box. Then they had a small period of sounding a little scratchy and bright, its kind of hard to explain, but they just didn't sound right for a short period. Then they opened up and it was like Angels marching out of Heaven lol.

I never had a speaker with a break in period like these. I wasn't even sure I believed the break in hype, but these speakers made me a believer and I love everything about them. Grats on your purchase and enjoy!

Thanks to both of you. I just picked one up to finish off my bedroom system. I have one already, paired with an Energy ESW-V8 in my living room (18x10) in an apartment, gives me great bass without having the authorities called on me for both music and HT.

The bedroom gets this sub, an RC-LCR, RC-10's as mains and twin RC mini CC's as surrounds. All music, until I move my Oppo BDP-83 (replaced by an Oppo BDP-93 in the living room) into the bedroom and get a small HDTV in there. Mostly music after anyways, but it would be nice to do some bluray concerts, SACD and DVD-A's.

That is exactly what is happening with my v6.2 veritas in regards to break in period. I was on the verge of sending them back because they only sounded good/okay and was not really impressed, but now with about 20-25 hours on them they are really starting to sound better and have opened up and are more punchy.

I need some help on how to set up my VS speakers. Do any of you have any suggestion on what settings I should set them to? This is where they are mounted. Right now I have them set to about -3 and to dipole. Your thoughts?

Seems perfect to me.

Are you just asking so that you can show off your living room?
I wish I could achieve something as neat. And afford your end table right there (not the one with the lamp).
When running audyssey, you are to set the volume of your sub(s) at 75db. Is it understood that you are to leave your subs at this level for accurate bass production (volume knob up 20% on my vsw10's)
after Audyssey don't touch the knobs on the subwoofer. If you want to tweak the bass up for your preference do it in the processor.

Same for me with my rc-70s. They sounded good at first( could have been just because they were so much better than what I had before), then just ok, maybe a little dull......and after a few months.....boom .....they just seemed to open up and have sounded that way ever since. My rc10s sounded great right away.

Huh, what? All I see is a huge subwoofer. Throw some table top grade glass on that bad boy and you could have another End table lamp, Coaster set................ LOL

Lol. No, I was just wondering if I'm running them correctly. I just don't know if I should be getting more "effect" out of them.

Just got my RC70s and LCR, does anyone here have any recommendations on listening to break them in? I work 12 hour days typically and was planning on just leaving my stereo on while I am gone to expedite the process. I was thinking music with some decent low level to give the drivers a bit of a workout. Also, how loud should it be played while I'm not at home?

HSU ULS-15, AKA the reason I've been so unproductive lately. As to dasanii's question maybe check out the RC 70 manual in Hanks signature. The RC manual had some good documentation on setting up the RCR which is pretty much the same design. Don't know if you've seen the documentation but other than that placement wise those look perfect.
