I have the C-8's. I tried them in pure direct mode with 4311 and Parasound 2205. To my ears, they sound better with the separate amp, but the difference is not huge. I would say definitely discernible.

If your current receiver is not as powerful, you may get more benefit.

When I saw the RC-70s selling for even cheaper at FutureShop, I decided to make the switch. I had pretty crappy stands for the CB-20s (the CB-5s were on shelves), and that was kind of frightening with a 1-year old toddler around. The towers are much more stable smile.gif

Neutro, I was wondering if you could tell me (if you know) when the CB-series bookshelf speakers were released for sale on the marketplace. Same for the CC-10. I would like to dig back further into this thread and read what was said about them during their initial release time period. I purchased my loudspeakers back in April of this year.

The new "connoissuer" series was announced in late 2008: http://www.energy-speakers.com/news/press-releases/EU_Connoisseur_SpeakerSeries/

If his goal is convenience/simplicity for multizone distribution then he should look into something like Sonos, which will allow him to place wireless speakers anywhere he wants them as long as they can "see" the wifi network. Alternately, if his music is in iTunes and he has apple products (e.g. iPhone or iPad) to control he can use AirPlay by adding an AppleTV (if he needs video) or Airport Express (audio only) to any "zones" where he wants to distribute audio.

For example, if his music is in iTunes he could add an Airport Express, a cheap 2ch stereo receiver and a pair of bookshelf speakers (like RC-10) and have a really nice "second zone" for music that can be controlled with an iPhone.

Thanks much, batpig, just the information I was seeking. [BTW I just "liked" you on Facebook; glad to be a new fan!]

I remember it being mention that Energy quit making the RC and Veritas line. If anyone is not on their Facebook page, I asked them on there. They actually replied the other day and they ARE still making the RCs and Veritas.

All right, have been debating all week. Actually ordered a rclcr and 4 rc10s from vanns this week for my small front living room, and guess what, haven't even received, and got upgradetis and found a set if rc30 today for 499 , free shipping. So I'm thinking of sending one pair of rc10 back, going to cost me 30 bucks, but oh well. Still need to decide on a sub, room is 12 ft wide x 14 ft. Any thoughts ? Did I maketheright call for the rc30 ? One last thing, can my center channel be slightly higher than my towers. Didn't realize how wide the rclcr is, so I can put on stand below tv, or about a foot lower in my actual center channel area, if I do some cutting to the stand.

Well Vanns seems to have exclusive deal for the RC-70, LCR and RC-10. Don't know if they are selling any other RC Models.

Maybe they have a similar deal for Veritas speakers? Although at those closeout prices for the V5.1 you'd think they are on clearance.

Could be. Even on Energy's site for the RCs, its says available at Vanns. I would LOVE to snag up the V5.1s but the wont pass the WAF. Stupid girlfriends.. lol Shes dead set with the Micros for the rear 4 channels. I want the RC70s, but will have to wait for another sale.

Well for the RC line we already got a hint that it is discontinued, *except* for that deal with Vann's, meaning that everything is as before in that case. As for the Veritas line, I guess what the Vann's representative was saying is that they were soon out of stock and he didn't know when new stock would come? Anyway it would have been really weird of Energy to scrap the most recent line and flagship models. So... nothing to see, keep moving I guess.

As far as I know, the contract between Energy and Vann's means production resumed for those three speakers. The three others (RC-30, RC-50 and RC-R) were last produced in 2008 or so I guess. Thus, bucknuts07 finding RC-30s is a great find. In terms of price, I guess it's not bad at all since they never were sold at the cheap prices that currently apply to the 10, 70 and LCR. Until a few months ago, a local store still carried RC-30s, and were selling them for $700/pair. At the time, FutureShop were selling RC-70s at $800/pair so that didn't make sense, but now the RC-30s are totally gone from my region. That being said, they will do great as fronts with the LCR and with RC-10 surrounds. You could also have kept all RC-10s and made a 7.1 setup wink.gif

The RC-LCR is not exceptionnaly wide when placed horizontally, but it is quite high for a center speaker. Maybe that's what you're saying bucknuts07. I myself am still waiting for the right moment for wall-mounting my TV, and then at last, put my RC-LCR at ear-level where the TV stand was. It fits on a shelf in my HT cabinet, but it's quite low. As for your subwoofer, it really depend upon your budget. It's a world on its own, and depending if you want to spend $200 or $2000, options differ to say the least biggrin.gif The Energy S10.3 is a popular choice here when it's on sale at Newegg, providing great bang for the buck. If you're prepared to put at least $500 on the table, then you will probably be advised to jump to internet-direct sub manufacturers, which offer tremendous value for the price. There are many excellent choices above that price.

My friend says sound quality is #1 and I thought the RC's would fit his needs perfectly. In fact, he is planning to buy a 4311 for multi zone playback. Suddenly, he wants wireless speakers. Do those even work with the 4311? Also, he is old school in the sense he does not use iTunes or any other online music source. I thought I was going to get another friend into the Energy family. Now, I have no idea what he wants.

Dude...no,no,no,no,no! Tell her when you put a ring on her finger she can tell you what to buy, but until then get the speakers you want. You will spend less money in the long run. biggrin.gif

Yes it definitely still works. Use the link that was provided in the previous post and type in "audio" in the provided space.

This pair is to be use as front height with the rest of my veritas v setup.smile.gif
post #39709 of 47758
Would the v5.1 be a good choice for front heights for the 6.3's? What would I gain? Bigger sound stage I'm guessing? Would it be a day and night difference? Anyone know?
In my opinion one of the best deals is on the 6.2 Veritas Towers

when did you buy your 5.1s? the $120 price is temporary and will be back and normal price soon which will be more proportional to the open-box pricing

The only solution I can think of is this http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/OAWA3.html

I don't have any experience with this product. And find it kind of pricey. But if he's dead set against running wires, maybe it's something that might interest him. He can use rc speakers with it since they handle 8ohm speakers.

I purchased 2 open box black v5.1s back in mid May for 161.88ea and a third open box black v5.1 for 143.90 last week. I chatted with vanns yesterday and they said they would credit me the difference so that I end up paying the 120.88 price per speaker. They said they couldnt give any more of a discount even though I bought them open box. I didnt complain because 1) the open box speakers I bought were perfect condition and 2) the price cannot be beat with a schtick......I suppose maybe I would have been bothered a bit if I had purchased damaged speakers from the outlet and didnt get an additional discount.

I am keeping 2 in storage to use as wides when i eventually get the room for them (currently use v-mini's as my heights and v5.1s as backs). I have the third v5.1 since I slightly damaged the cabinet veneer on 1 of my back 5.1s (minor cosmetic) in case i ever have the want/need to swap it out.

a great deal especially if you can bargain down the price a bit.

Was checking this out, have some interest in the C6 Speakers, but the Seller is using two Photos from a three year old Canuck Audio Mart sales advert. So Caveat emptor

If I were in the area, I would have dropped by to take a look and listen. If in good shape, great speakers.

I was talking with then about your discount they said that there is nothing in the computer showing any of the discount that your are claiming and that the 120.88 with the promo code audio is a error is not supposed to go that lower with the discount.mad.gif that they wont even sell then for that price because is way below the lowest they can sell this speakers.confused.gif
