I was going to have it shipped to the US too, but when I saw the int shipping, I figured I would save my buddy the hassle, and he would have to ship it to me anyways... however, I still havent checked out. It got as far as place order, then the credit card verification took me to a dead end....then just used VISA instead of MC and the verisign worked, and checkout successfully.... this was by far the longest it has ever taken me to order something online...

By brutal, I meant that the roughly $100 difference plus HST makes it much more than shipping to a US address; however, compared to FS prices and what I paid to get mine a couple of years ago, it's a bargain. Sad to say but I paid $450 + tax to buy it from Futureshop.

The new RC-xx's and .5s are being fed decent power with the Luxman R-3030. Rock N' Roll. Luxman + older energy = Awesome. Done deal. Do not hesitate to pull the trigger on a Luxman if you have Energy speakers and love high energy smooth sound. I will never sell the Veritas or Luxman gear. Most of the rest of my gear will be up for grabs, for a good reason.

Hank, I have some old Pioneer gear an SX-1080 also a Pioneer 950011 amplifier from 1978, the rc-70's sound great on the old gear.
My question is since they dont sell the v6.3 anymore just the v6.2 Veritas do you think the v6.2 will sound good on old gear. Never had a reason
to have a subwoofer with the old gear and the rc-70's do you think the v6.2 can play 2 channel music and hold there own without a sub?

Just great... at $82 already, I think I will pass if it is too outrageous...

Caper -- I think having an RC-LCR new, delivered to your door, at the very tip of Nova Scotia for less than $300, is quite a deal biggrin.gif

I get excited whenever I see those prices but now I must concentrate on my next upgrades, which would be ceiling speakers in the kitchen, and probably a second sub. Ah and now my receiver is now 1 yo and so is past its warranty -- it should break down pretty soon :P

No progress on the ceiling speakers front for the moment. I'm waiting for an occasion to do the Kinek trick considering the price of reputable brands in Canada. I could order the Energy EAS-6Cst from Amazon but I've had zero comment about the EAS series so I'm not sure if it's worth the shipping fees to Canada. I want to equip two locations (kitchen + dining area); I thought about using two stereo ceiling speakers for this (such as the EAS-6Cst), but I guess if I wait for an occasion to fetch the packages south of the border, for almost the same price I could get two pairs of RC-6Cs at Crutchfield.com (they don't carry the RC-6Cst anymore, alas).

I hear you. I already have a SDX-10 sub kit with 2 passive rads and a BASH300 waiting to be built, and since the TRIO12's are getting low in stock, I have to order another trio12 combo with the 15" PR, and BASH500...

I know close to nothing about DIYsub (and speaker) kits but if I had more manual skills I would give it a shot for sure as I read about fantastic performance for much less money than even the most humble ID makers can offer.

I'll be lucky if I don't have to call a reno crew after I'm done with the ceiling speakers.

Can anyone recommend a good wall mount bracket for the VS surrounds? I believe they are keyhole mount but I believe some brackets have adaptors to work with this.

There is a threaded hole on the back of the VS. You insert the supplied screw into the VS and slip the VS into plastic a bracket that is held in place with a couple of wall screws.

I am running the v 6.2s and I absolutely feel the need to add a subwoofer down the road.

Thanks for your input. May I ask what your using to drive your V6.2's?

A 10 year old HK AVR 500. (80w per chan).

Long time lurker, but very infrequent poster here.
Thanks to all of the contributors here for your expertise.

I've just become an energy owner having jumped on the closeout deals and sprung for 3 x RC-LCR across the front and RC-10 surrounds. For now will be driving with a Yamaha RX-V659. Can't wait to get them and hear them - expecting huge improvement from cheapo HTIB. No sub yet but looking at the Klipsch RW-12d.

You should be estatic, Rc-lcr is a great speaker. How big is your room ? And will it be primarily home theater ? If I were you, I would hold off on the sub until you can buy something good. For example, an Outlaw Ex, or Lfm-1 plus. They have frequent sales, I recently picked up a Lfm-1 plus, B stock, which was flawless, for $499. The Klipsch is Ok, but I would imagine, it may leave you wanting more, and subs are hard to sell once you have them. I would look really hard at Outlaw, Hsu, Svs as a good starting point.

I recommend you in the bass department 2 sub woofers, one subwoofer setup for mid bass and the other one for deep bass.

HSU have a Mid-Bass Module specially for mid bass frequency's.

+1 on that. With that all-RC-LCR frontstage and RC-10 surrounds, I think you deserve a nice sub smile.gif I think you'll find that ID makers such as the ones mentioned by Bucknuts offer the best bang for the bucks above the $600 price point or so. Anyway here is an active, interesting thread on the topic: The Subwoofer recommendation by pricepoint thread.

I currently have the CF-70's for my two fronts. Will the RCLCR match them as a center?

At that price I might bite since it is cheaper than the CC-10 which is suppose to be the match for CF-70.
I wouldn't think so, different tweeters
Just had time to catch up on the thread again. There was some talk about people worrying the RC-70s would not again be carried by Vanns. I just spoke with a representative that confirmed they are still on order and that Vanns will be receiving a shipment in late October as well as a "big shipment" in the end of November.

I'm glad, I still haven't ordered mine, still trying to ease my wife into the idea to boost the WAF. I'm so excited for Christmas!

CC-10 is the best match for your CF-70. The RC LCR would work but it isn't a timbre match.

Try calling the folks at Vanns. They can make you a deal if you speak with a sales rep. The CC-10 has sold for under $200 before. If they have it in stock (and they do) inventory probably isn't moving real fast. Just give them a call and ask for better pricing. You've got absolutely nothing to lose.

Has anyone put the RC-70 up against say....

- Monitor RX6/RX8
- KEF Q700/Q900
- PSB Image T6
- Aperion Versus Forte/Grand
- Polk RTI a9 (should this even be in here?)
- Arx A5
- EMP e55ti (look VERY interesting for the price!)

I know it's completely subjective, but down here there isn't many places to demo. I already set up something to demo some KEF q300's, but can only find Paradigm and B&W down here. Any thoughts??

I was told this as well some time ago by a rep I've dealt with a few times. He told me they were getting more of all the RC line ( 70's, 10's and LCR). Hope so, b/c the timing should be about right for me to replace my current C-6/AC-300 front stage.

What did the RC-70's go for at Vann's and what do you all expect them to be at??

I believe the lowest they were at was $399 each. very likely to see that price again at some point i'd say...

I second the recommendation to save a little for a better sub. I picked up an SVS PC12-NSD and haven't looked back. The thing really slams.

I purchased a pair of RC-70's a few months ago from Vanns for $379 each. They were running a special sale or something. That's the lowest I've ever seen them.

Hm. Interesting. I wonder how they stack up against those below. The EMP e55ti's looks sexy as hell, but worried about their lack of reviews/ FR graphs, etc.
