Just use Blu Tack putty or velcro squares to hold the speaker in place on the top plate of the stand.
Been doing this with my bookshelf speakers for years.

I got similar speakers and have them sitting on top of the rubber pads. Should I take them off and just use velcro?

Also can anyone recommend a center channel Stand? The one below goes with my set however can you angle the center upwards towards the listeners ears? If now and the speak points strait foward it would be at the persons belly or knees when sitting.

How many RC LCR's do you have?
The RC-70 is definitely a better speaker. It'll play lower and sound better with music, plus you wont need stands. If your main use is home theater or games then maybe it wont make a huge difference for you if you have a quality subwoofer.
$399 each or below would be a good price for this speaker.

I am using 3 x RC-LCRs + Mirage S12 for movies only. Three identical speakers up front are perfect !

for movies only I would stick with what you have, the RC-70's would offer the most improvement for dedicated 2ch music listening.

Missoula, Montana... that's gotta be Vann's. Probably some F'd up returns that they are trying to unload.

If you are willing to deal with the physical damage that's a GREAT price though.

man those are in rough shape...probably from no double boxing with the shipping carrier throwing them around. maybe 100-150/ea and use them for spare parts if one already has the rc line.

Thought the same, was seeing few posts here who were interested in a RC70 so thought of sharing. Cheers.

Free shipping. It will be interesting to see what they go for. It looks like they have a few different pairs? I won't be bidding. But still, it will be interesting to see what they go for.

Getting a V 5.2 C to pair with my RC 70. Does anyone has experience with this setup?

Is recommended to have the same front speakers that have the same timbre,The recommended speaker is the RC-LCR.It could be distracting or maybe not.

Amazon has the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system on sale today for $299 and I was thinking of picking this up. I am setting up a 7.1 system, coming from a Bose Acoustimass 5.1 setup. I was thinking of using the satellites in this system as my 4 rear speakers and pairing it with a pair of CF-30s for the front. Has anyone tried this setup? I would spend more time researching, but don't want to miss the deal. I have read plenty of positive reviews about the Take system, but haven't seen much about the CF-30s or combining them.
There's really no rush, the Takes are always on sale. That's not some especially ridiculous price. Especially since the sub it's packaged with is sorta meh.
Went to Fry's in Atlanta tonight, they had around 10 pairs at $599 each. I glanced at the computer and a bunch of locations have plenty. Seems they bought all the stock from Energy.

Anyone out in the State of Washington there are a pair of RC-50s for sale $300.00 on craigslist.
Very tempting but I already have more speakers than I need. He is in a town called Vancouver.
Good buy for someone around here.

That won't work too good. I'd get a CC-5 or 10 depending on budget first, then a better sub, then find some loose Takes on eBay for surrounds.

I agree with batpig. $299 isnt the greatest price for the takes. You can do better. Also, i would buy the 5.0 takes and get a better subwoofer. Like batpig said, the take subwoofer is meh.

Personally I only use some of the thin rug underlayment stuff that mean to keep rugs from sliding around. I had some left over from a rug so I used that. Its the real thin one from home depot. I cut out a little square that fit the bottom of the speaker perfectly to hold it in place. But then again, I dont have any kids or pets running around. If I did, I would definitely use some velcro, but I would also worry about the speaker finish if I ever needed to take the velcro off.

I dont know of any stands that actually tilt the speaker up. I have my center under my TV in the tv stand so its lower than ear level. I used a couple of these under the front of the speaker to angle it up a little. Its not perfect, but it definitely helps

Here's an example. Does Sanus make something like this but with the 22" base. I mean having the center straight ahead pointed straight at your knees doesnt make sense does it?

I have a RC-LCR in a box. Was waiting for a sale, then stock went way down, and I jumped on a deal at meijer. Have had the 70s for 2 years now, and now I have the center. Just have to wait for the right time to move everything into the HT and replace the 3 Take FPS up front. Will be a while before that happens, at least another year I would say. Better to buy cheap now, and store them, than buy at 3 times the price later... smile.gif

Well, if they were local to me, I would consider buying them, removing everything, and refinishing the cabinets using wood putty, or something to reform the corners, sand, paint, install drivers and hardware. A little "DIY" project. Cost $400 approx. Value: almost $3K in sound quality... just throwing that out there for anyone...

Do you like the CF-30s in that combo with the CC-5/10 and Takes? I am starting to think the CF-30 is discontinued. Not as easy to find as it was a few months back...

Do you recommend another Energy sub since I would have all Energy speakers or is there another known good combo?

Unlike matching speakers in brand,. there is no reason to buy an Energy sub to match with your speakers. Get the best sub you can that fits your needs. If you consult the AVS subwoofer forum, you can find out more information about best deals on subs.

Thanks. I understand the electrical design is different between RC and Veritas, but aren't they using the same woofer? The tweeter is little be different and make it sound brighter on the Veritas, just want to see if anyone in this forum has listened to similar RC/Vertias combo.
The price of V5.2 has been really good recently (getitng for 198 with F/S), the RC-VCR price is almost at the MSRP plus hard to get. I am using a Mythos three as part of transition phase upgrading speakers.
As Cel said above... no need to timbre match the sub; plus, while some Energy subs are "OK" to "Reputed" (thinking about the S10.3 here), the smaller, cheaper ones are not really up to par. At every price points where Energy produces subs, except maybe for the S10.3, chances are that you can find better subs.

It's the tweeter that counts. The difference is probably slight, but it would be there - at the end, though you have to go with what you like. The best match obviously would be the RC-LCR.

I'll back this up. The Sx.x series are very good, the ESW-V* series are also very good. I have 2 S10.3's, an S8.3 and an ESW-V8, all of which are perfect for my smaller apartment spaces. The latest veritas subs I heard were fine (but have no experience with) The C series, though is not as capable as what is available for the same price.

I'd go to the subs forum, but would recommend that you get a good sub from one of the online sub vendors; that gets you the best value.
